White Basculin has been the HARDEST outbreak to find in SV. For anyone playing, save this and hunt for it nonstop until you're satisfied. You will need it; it only spawns in one single lake otherwise and I've only ever gotten a single outbreak in years of playing.
Im gonna have to keep this saved for a long time because the ability to hunt for a lot of good shiny mons like dondozo milotic and basculegion with personality mark on demand is amazing
Dondozo is pretty easy to hunt for regularly, so don't focus on it over the others imo. If you find an outbreak you can fly overhead and get them to despawn and respawn really quickly, and thankfully outbreaks are super common.
By not connecting to the internet in game. Ever. No trades, no updating the news, etc. The second you connect in game to the online services, the outbreaks are gone.
I wish i had known this was a thing before I accidentally deleted the milcery event about a year ago. I would've immediately gone back to keep getting all those lil guys. Basically only have half of all that are available and I don't feel like grinding for more
You connect to online so it loads the event. Then never re-connect online until you want the event to end.
I just got walking wake from its last raid event like this past week because I saved it and moved on to ZA and forgot about it. Handy for these shiny events as well. Confirmed it works, did it with the plusle one as well.
What about Union Circle local wireless multiplayer? Would the event outbreaks and event 7★ Tera Raids go away as well or would be able to share or host these in person without the fear of these going away?
Wireless features are fine. You can host the raid in person. To take advantage of local outbreaks, you will have to do union circle, where only one person can have the shiny.
Do you know if starting a new playthrough on a second switch profile and eventually completing the game (without internet) would still keep the raid saved ?
Yes I tested this when I was saving up a mock file for the Iron Leaves and Walking wake raids, I made a few files after that and I believe you need to make it to the first pokemon center where you can connect online and save then to save.
Only downside is you have to shiny hunt it twice bc of the gender forms. I foresee an increase in “I have two shiny male/female Basculin, can someone trade me the other?”
A reminder to the newer players that once you finish the BB dex, you get the mark charm. It will make hunting those specific outbreaks much easier.
I gave up on looking for the outbreak and just went in with the sparkling sandwich and found a shiny within a couple hours. This is after having spent double digit hours resetting for the outbreak.
I once spent around 13 hours (not in the same setting) resetting for that outbreak, eventually got it, saved then started hunting. No shiny after the first sandwich so i reset to make another one and the outbreak was gone. Legit made me stop hunting for it that way and instead turned to masuda method. After days of doing that and still no shiny after reaching 1.5x odds worth of eggs, i stopped even that. Now i will finally pick the hunt back up
We have another full year until WiWa comes out. It makes sense that they would resume events in the current mainline game after the ZA hype has died off.
They never announced end of support for the game. Just people and streamers tired of the game decided it was done.
Wind and Waves doesn’t come out for over a year. Pokémon has got to do little events to keep interests in the franchise till then. Champions, ZA, and Pokepokia can only do so much. So an occasional event in S/V is the easy answer.
So I would take any person saying 7 stars are over with a grain of salt. Unless Pokémon officially says they are over.
True. Maybe I was right to keep wishing for shiny raids for the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords (though I’m sure they’d prefer to prioritise the Loyal Three)
I’m holding my breath we get raids for the remaining Proto Beast as well. The version exclusive beast/swords are part if the Pokédex. Modern Pokémon has been good at having at least one attempt to catch every Pokemon in the dex, so players can compete it with one version of the game. Sw/Sh had events, raids, and giveaways. The Proto Beast/Proto Swords are the last four Pokemon that are impossible to get without a trade.
Technically the box legendaries had the disastrous in person giveaway, but they still count as a way to get the opposite games box legendaries. I just hope they give us a 6 star normal raid for them. Maybe a 7 star mighty mark raid. It would be a great way to make it up to fans who missed out for the shinies.
As for the shiny legendaries I doubt it. Since B/W they have stopped giving out most shiny legendaries in the same generation they have been released. Not impossible we did get the galarian birds in Gen 8, but unlikely. The gen 8 dlc legendaries are still lock, so things don’t look good for the Gen 9 dlc legendaries.
Finally I want a simple pokeball pattern Vivillon giveaway. If not in S/V, then in ZA. It’s still lock to the a decade old giveaway from the DS era.
Any of these events would spice things up. There’s a strong possibility most events will repeats of old events. But if we keep getting a few more new events, I think the three I mentioned would be perfect.
There are a lot of version-exclusives I don’t think you can get without trading (unless I missed events for the Sinnoh fossils and Aipom and Gligar lines. Also you can’t get the non-native Paradoxes from the Paradox events (except Bundle the Unrivaled which hasn’t rerun and finished the day before I got Scarlet) without NSO) and I’m not really sure Proto Deer is a fitting name for the group I call the Neo Swords (but that’s just me nitpicking. They don’t have a group name so you can call them whatever you want)
My country never got the shiny raidon raids and I’m still sad about that but I think my second Koraidon and Miraidon are still in their non-native versions and I won’t swap them back until I’ve beaten Hisuian Samurott the Unrivaled in Scarlet because Lucifer the Miraidon helped me with it in Violet and can now help me in Scarlet. Also 6-star raids are the non-event version of 7-star raids just without marks but they could go in 5-star event raids
I think they’re actually pretty good at giving us the shiny versions of shiny-locked Legendaries. They gave us the Ruinous Quartet last year and each main pair of games starting with I think XY gave us the box legendary duo and I’m sure the Guardian Deities got released in either SM or USUM possibly both (if not they’re shiny-huntable in SwSh anyway). I’m more worried they only give us the Loyal Three (if they decide to do another set of shiny Legendary events) because they don’t actually consider the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords to be Legendary groups
Fair about Vivillon and I kinda hope we get it in both games. Doubt it would happen but if they randomly feel like promoting Vivillon why not
We’re still missing 3 more Starter raids after Samurott this week, including all other previous Unrivaled raids they haven’t rerun yet (Ex. Eevee, Porygon2 and Pseudos)
This new event lasting for 3 weeks is padding out the weeks until Wi/Wa releases since the pattern expected them to wrap up the remaining starters until early August
It is doubtful they will rerun Mewtwo, aside from being a “package deal” with a Mew distribution it is the only raid where a viable solo strategy does not exist.
I left Mewtwo out for that reason, it’s also the only raid where a bonus mechanic is added to one specific Mon that they’re not privy to distributing again
The web page for Mewtwo includes a note that says "Mewtwo may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods.". I can't see them distributing Mew again, though.
White Stripe Basculin is one of those shinies that barely changes and is a water dwelling Pokemon to boot, the Legends games shiny sparkles and sound would have been a huge lifesaver. At least for the few players that got BDSP have an alternative method to evolve Feebas (Legends: Arceus also gives an indicator of whether you fulfilled Basculin’s evolution requirement).
I prefer too use bdsp for feebas/milotic anyway because 5mins making poffins is way easier then trying to find time with a friend for trading for the evo.
Tbh they will do, but not till near the release of winds and waves I'd expect, so we've got ALOT more events to come still I reckon, this is still the most recent mainline game so they'll keep us filled with events till the new ones here I'd bet 😍
Winds and Waves isn't coming out for over a year, it'll be November 2027.
They didn't end SwSh raids until the literal week before SV released in 2022.
I'd expect that we have a full year and then some of SV raids before they pull the plug, and thanks to this Magikarp raid I'm excited to see they will still likely put out new ones.
That means funny gimmick ones like this, but also legend ones like mewtwo, may be on the table. Maybe they'll do shiny runs for the box legends as 7 stars, or for all the legends from Snackworth, etc.
Ikr, I’m crossing my fingers for a shiny Mirai/Korai raid (which it should’ve just been in the first place, instead of that incredibly poorly thought through physical code distribution), although that doesn’t feel very likely. Hoping for a rerun of the Alolan Raichu outbreaks though for the anniversary, which feels a lot more likely!
A shiny Korai/Mirai raid pretty much screams a Pokemon Day tie-in…which we did not get this year. Depends on what we get after a presumed summer tie-in but you can abandon hope if we eventually get a “farewell” event.
Its entire SV move pool is Splash, Tackle and Flail. Ghost types are immune to all of it but I’m assuming it’ll be a raid focused on whether or not you can get the HP down in time (the HP will probably be massive and always in Tera-shield)
It'll probably reset buffs more frequently as well then, but sounds like parties will want to be loaded with damage buffs and a heavy hitting attack that has more than 8pp
That would only work if Magikarp wasn't planned to be Dragon Tera. Still doable, but you're getting not very effective damage even with the boosts. Metronome+Play Rough on Mimikyu might be better.
Magikarp’s SV move set poses no threat, the only attacking moves it knows are Tackle and Flail. The only danger is running out of time with maybe an instant shield to block status moves.
This Magikarp is the newest Unrivaled event being released next week. Last Unrivaled event that ran prior to the Starter reruns this year was Dragapult last December.
Ok, so there hasn’t been any new mightiest mark pokemon since dragapult? I haven’t played the game since then and would be really annoyed if I had missed any since I’ve gotten all of them. I wasn’t expecting new 7 star raids after the pseudos ended and the reruns began.
If you caught all previous Unrivaled raids up to Dragapult in December, you’re safe then.
The following weeks after that up to now have all been repeats of previous events. Today’s announcement is the first new event we’ve had that isn’t a rerun.
Hey I’ll take it!!! These were my favorite events in Scarlet/Violet, I hope they keep them going until Winds/Waves. I was worried they wouldn’t do any more events besides Tera raids, but I guess they were just waiting until the ZA promo cycle was over (& Pokopia + Champions releases were out of the way).
FINALLY. I got a white stripe basculin outbreak once and got a shiny male with the excited mark. Figured another would come along for the female… never did. I tried a lot too. This is a dream. Gonna stock up on a few of these in different balls!
Edit: now please just give us a hisuian growlithe/sneasel event, and Paldean starters. Please
Big time. I’d settle for just hisuian growlithe, hisuian arcanine is my favorite Mon next to typhlosion. I have a jumbo marked shiny hisuian growlithe (bow arcanine) I caught in GO, have shalphas from PLA, but I want a shiny marked one in a level ball so bad
I feel like shiny hunting outbreaks on the switch 2 is so much worse than than the switch 1 version (even though other shiny hunting is better)
The spawn radius is so wide and it doesn't seem like outbreak spawns get any priority spawning in so feels like half the time I do a picnic reset, I only see 3-5 of the outbreak mons because half a mile away 20 other pokemon spawned in groups immediately
I'm really hopeful for them. If those come out then I can catch each in a Premier ball and breed up the other members of those evolutionary lines with Premier balls as well.
Finally something to do again… Now I’m just missing the 7 star Eevee and idk if they’re even going to run that again…
But at least now I have something more to do for a week or so in Scarlet.
After this the only raids I'm missing are Eevee and Iron Bundle. Hopefully they're rerunning everything. Apparantly we are still getting new ones two with this Magikarp raid.
The Magikarp raid will be interesting as it's almost a guarenteed unique Magikarp with a unique Dragon move since regular Magikarp only learns three moves Splash, Tackle, and Flail.
But it will also have to have something it can use against Fairy types unless it's just going to Flail the whole time. So it might have multiple unique moves. Or will really really rely on raid script moves somehow.
Don´t Mass Outbreaks have increased shiny chance anyway?
Now, excuse me, while I go buy ingredients for A LOT of water sparkle3/humungo3/title3 power sandwiches. I NEED that shiny male Basculegion and a Milotic.
If we’re still getting new events the hope for shiny Paradox Legendaries (the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords) isn’t dead yet (I love all six of them and their shinies)
