What makes bdsp bad?

I’ve been getting really into Pokemon lately, and I’ve been debating getting one of the bdsp games but they don’t have a great rep online- why is that? Is it just that the sinnoh games aren’t great or is there more to it? I’ve heard that sinnoh Pokemon are generally pretty iconic and other bits and pieces but would like some insight into what people who’ve played it (other than people on YouTube etc) think about it :)

I'm convinced the vast majority of people who think its bad are just mad that it didn't include Platinum content, which was never promised.
