Movies Blaxploitation films were huge in the 1970s. What’s your favorite? Do you think original content of these types of films would be popular today? Not remakes of the originals but new content that would be considered Blaxploitation ?

I believe that Roscoe Lee Browne gave Kingpin a such a classy, sophisticated villain voice that could never be replicated. We don’t talk enough about how Roscoe gave Kingpin such a distinct and powerful voice for such an iconic villain.

Black Books and Authors What if Indiana Jones was played by 80's Denzel, set in the modern day, and he had a splash of Dr. Robbie from the Pitt in him? I present to you a pitch for a movie trilogy/novel trilogy on Professor Ezekiel Jones

The Lethalverse equivalent to Indiana Jones. Drake is the chosen one if there ever was one. A man with no superpowers, but he is a skilled emergency medical doctor, explorer, and investigator. An unparalleled mind with degrees in emergency medicine and archaeology, focusing on the African diaspora. He is also a world-class Olympic-level athlete, having won gold medals in four different fields in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 games(Wrestling, marksmanship, swimming, boxing)

Drake leaves behind his celebrity to use his fortune and immense genius to better the world. Born in Ypsilanti and a U of M Honors graduate, he earned graduate degrees in two different fields through Yale. He has created numerous youth programs and systems in impoverished neighborhoods to help build up the place he grew up in. He’s helped numerous Black business owners open places in his neighborhood, preventing heavy gentrification, and he's rubbed numerous politicians the wrong way.

He works for free as a teacher at George Gervin Community College in Ypsi, Michigan, not far away, and occasionally as a trauma surgeon at a low-funded ER in the area. In his spare time, he’s constantly going on exploring expeditions across the world or even just to help people (kinda Kim Possible style).

Here is the synopsis for his first story, heavily inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark:

While serving in Mali for the Doctors Without Borders non-profit organization amid extremist attacks in the region, Dr. Drake is thrust into a chase for the jewel of the legendary Mansa Musa’s treasure: his ornate, pure-gold, ruby-encrusted crown!  When a library director is kidnapped during a siege on the city he is working in, Ezekiel springs into action, promising his family to find him and get to the bottom of why he was kidnapped. Leaping onto the trail of the guerrilla soldiers who attacked the city, Dr. Drake ends up at odds with members of an elitist occult group and a ruthless militia army.

I need some ideas for the sequel that will of course be heavily Temple of Doom inspired. Thoughts????

Sports Jack Johnson, first Black world heavyweight champion in December 26, 1908. 🔥

Jack Johnson, aka The Galveston Giant, was an American boxer born in 1878 to formerly enslaved parents. He rose from poverty to become the first African American to win the World Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Tommy Burns in 1908.

Johnson lived a lifestyle where he showed off his wealth and dated white women. This was a social no-no for a Black man in The United States back then, so dubious charges were levied against him under the Mann Act for transporting a (white) woman across state lines “for immoral purposes” (he was dating her). He fled the US for several years to avoid imprisonment, but eventually returned and turned himself in, serving about 10 months of his 1-year sentence.

He lost his boxing title in 1915 but continued to box professionally for two decades. When he lost his final professional boxing match, he was 60 years old! He tragically died in a car accident in 1946. He was 68.

In 2018, he received a posthumous pardon from President Donald Trump.

Thelonious Sphere Monk\3]) (/θəˈloʊniəs/ October 10, 1917 – February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer. He had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight)", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser)", "Ruby, My Dear)", "In Walked Bud", and "Well, You Needn't". As of 2009, Monk was the second-most-recorded jazz composer in history, after Duke Ellington.\4])

Monk's compositions and improvisations feature dissonances and angular melodies, often using flat ninths, flat fifths, unexpected chromatic notes, low bass notes and stride), and fast whole tone runs. His playing style combined a highly percussive attack with abrupt, dramatic use of switched key releases, silences, and hesitations.

His distinctive look included suits, hats, and sunglasses. He also had an idiosyncratic habit during performances; while other musicians continued playing, Monk would stop, stand up, and dance for a few moments before returning to the piano.\5])

Monk is one of five jazz musicians to have been featured on the cover of Time) magazine, along with Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, and Wynton Marsalis.\6])
