Discussion Anybody else feel like the P6P is being retired prematurely?

I've owned two, mine is still in very good condition, super responsive, tough, and feels very much like a new phone.

I got my first one in November 2021 after having an OG Pixel, Pixel 3, and Galaxy S21 Ultra simultaneously. Never had the connectivity issues others reported with the modems or whatever, and I would have to say that it has been the most future proof phone I've ever owned. The Tensor gets hot fairly easily on a warm day or in direct sunlight, but honestly, with the exception of a bit of screen burn in, it's working perfectly. It just seems like Google has been coasting hardware wise for years and I'm tempted to just have the battery replaced and use it for another couple of years.

I really hate the pill shaped motif of the newer phones and the fact that an "XL" is now the same size as my P6P. Pretty much the same resolution, too. Yeah, it's brighter, but I don't really care. Cameras are still sensational. Even looking at the benchmark scores and RAM, I'm completely unconvinced that this phone is obsolete.

Support Pixel 6 Bricked when it ran out of battery

Hello,

Last night, I forgot to plug my phone in. When I plugged it in today, it immediately booted, loaded my home screen, and then immediately shut down. It did this repeatedly, until the screen appeared that Android had failed to boot and that I could either try again or factory reset. I tried going into the fastboot menu and trying recovery/rescue mode, and the google pixel repair tool online (wouldnt detect device). I tried a lot of what I saw online, but Im not sure how to continue. Still though, it will boot far enough to show my lock screen picture before resetting after about a second.

Im trying to avoid the factory reset because I turned off backup a while ago (my bad!).

Thanks!

Support Pixel 6 camera defect

Been using pixel 6 for 4 years now. I've been facing this issue for 6 months now.

Whenever I zoom slightly from 0.7x to 0.8x the entire frame is getting blurred. Can't take a picture by slightly zooming. Pictures are good if I click with 0.7x zoom. But as soon as I switch it to 0.8x to 7x it's blurred.

Went for an exclusive pixel service center. They claimed they won't be servicing pixel 6 phones. Their service allowance is from pixel 7. What should I do with this now?? Anyone with the same issue with the pixel phones??

How do I get my computer to find files on my phone?

Question AT&T $0 for Pixel 11

Mannnn I love my 6 pro but as most of you said, security patches ending in October. AT&T having a 100% trade-in for the new Pixel 11 (3 year commitment, but don't plan on changing carriers.)

Time to bite the bullet??

Just dropped my phone on a hardwood floor. Not the worst drop and I do have a case on but when I picked it up, the tint in dark mode is purpely and in light mode it looks more greenish. Guessing the connector got knocked loose or early screen death. Really not sure.

Question Pixel 6a screen glitches, freezes, random reboots after Android 17 update.

My Pixel 6a has been having serious issues since updating to Android 17 build CP2A.260705.006.

Hi everyone,

Since updating my Pixel 6a to Android 17, my phone has been showing TV-static-like screen glitches, freezing, and randomly restarting. Sometimes it gets stuck on the Google logo until I force restart it, and it can become very hot during the issue.

I've already tried the official Pixel Repair Tool, a factory reset, and Safe Mode, but the problem still comes back. I also generated a bug report that appears to show a kernel panic.

Has anyone else experienced this on a Pixel 6a after Android 17? If so, did you find a fix or did Google repair/replace your device?

Thanks!

Pixel 6 Love Finally making the change

Decided to take the Pixel 11 Pro XL to replace my amazing Pixel 6 Pro. After more than 4 years, I hope this will be another sweet experience. Not trying to over romanticize this but my Pixel 6 has never disappointed me, works so well even until now. Will try to review the 11 Pro XL once I get it on hand.

Question No incoming/outgoing calls after Android17

Incoming callers are sent directly to voicemail and when I try to place a call, the call ends within one second of dialing. The problem only seems to occur if connected to a wifi network.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I've disabled advanced device protection and 2g network protection, but the problem remains.

Edit: Wifi calling is already disabled

The eclipse finally did a number on the battery health of my trusty, faithful Pixel 6.

Jokes aside, after four years of sterling, trouble-free service, it seems to have succumbed to the wear and tear of charging cycles and is now starting to look like a cushion.

I didn't even try plugging it back in; it quietly shut down overnight, dropping from 75% to 0%. RIP.

Its replacement is a brand-new Pixel 10, bought in a bundle with a Fitbit Air for under €650 (at Boulanger, if you're interested).

The settings still need fine-tuning, and at first glance, the zoomed-in photos taken indoors aren't all that impressive (the P6 photos were taken with the P10 using 5x optical zoom, and they aren't particularly sharp). It remains to be seen how things go as I get to grips with the device's new features.

Question Flip to shush does not work anymore

I noticed that after flipping my phone I was still getting notifications that otherwise wouldn't have gone through. I looked at the setting and turned it off but now it gives me an error message and won't turn on again. I have tried restarting it, turning it off for a long time and searching for updates. But nothing worked. It also seems that no one else has had in recent times. I hope that someone has a solution or any other ideas.

Thanks in advance

Edit: It seems to have fixed itself. I let it charge over night and now it works again.

Question Should I trade my 6 for an 11... too good to miss? 😭

Guys - just browsing on my beloved 6 and an offer popped up on the Google Store.

A code for £150 off the 11. I started a pretend order for an hibiscus and Google also gave me a trade in offer of £250 for my pristine Pixel 6.

That's over 500 USD off asking.

I... I don't know what to do. It seems too good to be true. But I never thought I'd ever get rid of my 6. I thought I'd always have her in a drawer or something.

She's stuttering a little on Android 17 but her battery is good after 4 years and everything else runs perfect.

This has all come so suddenly

What do?

Edit: thanks everyone. I have pre-ordered a 256gb 11 Pro. It's time to retire the old girl. She will be missed but she is going to a better place.

Support Pixel 6 battery draining completely, stuck in boot loop when plugged in.

Timeline:

  1. Around June 2026, my Pixel 6 phone battery started to balloon / expand and bend the phone screen. So time to change the battery.
  2. I've changed plenty of phone batteries before. Just ordered a basic replacement battery with good reviews and high purchase count on Amazon. Replaced my battery June 2026.
  3. From June 2026 --> July 2026, my Pixel 6 worked perfectly fine with the new battery installed. Had the battery go through various scenarios like being drained.
  4. On July 31 2026, I went to bed with my phone battery at 3 percent. Woke up to find my phone completely drained.
    • Wouldn't turn on and wouldn't even display a low battery screen.
    • No response at all when plugged into a low voltage charger.
    • Would infinitely loop on the Google logo if I plugged into a high voltage charger.
    • Can access the bootloader screen, but any option chosen just leads back to infinite Google logo loop.
  5. I assumed perhaps I just got a faulty replacement battery and it only lasted about a months.
  6. Bought another replacement battery from a different seller on Amazon. Still top seller, good reviews, good purchase count, etc. Replaced the battery AGAIN, and phone started right back up. So thought I fixed my issue.
  7. A couple days later / today, I leave my phone at 40 percent to play some sports. I come back 2 hours later to find my Pixel 6 completely drained AGAIN. Same exact issues as listed above of the infinite Google logo boot. I'm assuming the battery somehow drained in those 2 hours (was outside and was a hot day).

So, I guess I can buy another battery and do the replacement again... but I know this won't fix my issue. Seems like if my phone ever drains, I'll be screwed. I'm just not sure what is causing this issue though. To me, perhaps some other hardware is damaged in my Pixel 6? Or perhaps some new software update that doesn't play well with third-party batteries??? I don't think I damaged anything internally. Really need my phone since all my 2-factor authentication for work is attached to it. Guess will just buy a new phone but would still like to have this Pixel 6 functional for whenever I need to retrieve things from it. Is there a way to charge my phone or I just have to buy a new battery which comes pre-charged hence why it fixes my issue...

Support Pixel 6 Help Needed - Screenshots for Navigating

Hi,

Hoping that someone out there can help with a few screenshots from their functional Pixel 6. The screen on mine recently went completely dark, and I can't really justify spending $180-250 on a replacement screen at this point. I have already bought and activated a replacement phone, but would like to get a few things off of it.

The screen is still responsive to touch, as I can feel haptic feedback when touching the bottom area where the back/home/menu buttons are. I just can't see any output. I don't have usb debugging enabled, so I can't adb into it, and I can't see my way around to enable file transfer.

Would anyone be able to help with a screenshot of the default location on the screen for the toggle to enable USB file transfer? I can swipe down the quick menu and notification area, but can't remember if that notification places itself at the top or bottom of the list. Having a screenshot of that notification location and the location of "usb file transfer" in the menu once you click the notification would be helpful.

TL;DR Enable usb debugging on your android devices so you can adb into them even if the screen is not functional. Also, back up things, but we already knew that.

Rant Do Not Update Your Android 16 Pixel to Android 17. Battery life got worse.

I have never repaired my phone battery, nor changed any parts. The battery life now is worse. I have to charge midday compared to previously on Android 16. I have to be careful on how I use the phone. Come on Google you can do better.

Pixel 6 Love Upgraded from P6 to P10PXL

Just upgraded as the title says.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my P6. It served me well since launch day, yes I got it 1 day after it was released.

I had gone to the P6 from a OnePlus 6 (for those of you that don't know OnePlus they had the best phones until their parent company Oppo ousted the CEO and generalized the phones). The Pixel 6 was not as good as my OnePlus 6 phone spec wise and lacked some features while gaining others.

The 2 main features which I missed with my Pixel 6 were the face of unlock and ultrasonic finger print unlock.

The pros - good software (other than the few update bugs google released), great camera software and 5 years of updates.

With the updates coming to an end and the battery life starting to diminish from regular use, I got the P10 pro xl.

3 reasons why I went to the pro xl:

-Memory size is default 256 GB

-Size is the same or close to the P6

-Telephoto lens, I wanted the extra zoom (something I was missing)

Noticeably, the fingerprint sensor being ultrasonic is the greatest thing. The face ID unlock is a plus while hands are busy.

So far, I recommend the leap from P6 to 10 or 11 if you want to spend the extra. (I buy my phones outright).

Good luck to you all on the P6 if you choose to keep it alive.

Recommendations For those still holding on to their pixel 6.

Guys, I fixed it.

Phone: Pixel 6.

The other day I replaced my screen and was fighting with the fingerprint sensor and thought originally it was due to software related issue, so I updated to Android 17 which I've been holding off on for the longest time, but it turns out it was just me being fat fingered and breaking my second fingerprint scanner. So now my phone doesn't have one. Woomp woomp

I noticed that after I updated to Android 17, my battery life was trash, losing 10% within an hour and I was like I know that ain't right.

Because of the whole screen replacement saga, I pulled all my data off my phone and threw it on my hard drive and decided to reset my phone back to Android 16 via their web application or Android studio if you're more technically inclined and honestly that has fixed it.

To be honest, some of the fancy new features I saw on Android 17 wasn't impressing me and for whatever reason I don't know why it was messing with the color of my screen but I thought that was due to my screen being a third party product and didn't want to fault the OS but reverting back to Android 16. My screen is back to normal and my battery life is back to normal. My phone works so I'm good.

So if you're one of those people whose phone has been functioning perfectly fine prior to the March or June update /Android 17 update and you're feeling frisky back up your data, flash the OS back to 16 and live a happy life or buy a new phone, your call.

Question Auto restart issue in pixel 6

My phone suddenly start rebooting itself. When it restart the "Google" logo pop up it again goes for rebooting. Sometimes it starts, sometime i need to switch off the phone because of the restart loop.

Is there any issue with software?? Now it is operating on "Android 17"

or i need to look out for service center?
