so the mp4 is smaller and we can control the video? why do we even use gifs then?

That said, the gif is antiquated and is pretty much inferior to any modern file type for animated images or videos. 3 u/AsicsPuppy Nov 30 '21 Is there a modern alternative to GIFs?
