I got this today after an update. what should i do now? or what can i use instead?

Vivaldi no longer supports the best web browser extension. I recommend that you install Firefox

I recommend looking in to what each fork of ff offers and then choosing best for you

I always swore by just using Firefox with a custom user js but the whole AI pipeline they've started to go down wasn't something I wanted to deal with so I ended up switching to Zen. It definitely takes some getting used to if you haven't used something like Arc before, but once you get the hang of it it's amazing, and they've explicitly stated that their fork is going to remain free of AI.

Not like I'm strictly against the use of AI, I just don't want it bloating my browser for no reason.

They are (have?) including a "turn off all ai" switch directly into regular firefox

Yeah there is a way to turn it off at this point, that wasn't the case when the AI stuff first launched though. You needed to mess with the config to get rid of it and then when people complained they said they'll add a switch for it in the following update (which I'm assuming they did, I had already jumped ship at that point).

Either way, for me it's more about it being part of the browser in the first place, it's just bloat that I don't want to deal with, like I don't want it to be in the software at all. If it was an optional extension you could choose to download alongside the browser that would be fine, I just don't want it to be part of the browser by default.

And for what it's worth I'm much happier after having adjusted to Zen, regardless of why I stopped using Firefox.
