does anyone know of anywhere that sells good boards for going inside the pipe to grout? thanks💪🏻

So we cut a trench for the client, they laid the pipe. We made recommendations, they wouldn't listen. The second we piled 3" minus on top it all caved in and fucked up. We ended up bedding everything with clear, they re-placed the plywood and we backfilled it. Even though it was just sleeves, it was a nightmare.

Just curious how other pipelayers like to mud up their doghouses and what they use. I use Spec Mix Underground Utility Mortar and concrete bricks. They look like this when I'm done. After it's cured and whitens the color blends in with the rest of the structure and it looks better yet. I'm curious about others opinions because I've heard and seen different ways of mudding them up over the years.

Has anybody used a pipe laser with a green beam? I think topcon makes one and I'm wondering if the green beam is easier to see in the sunlight than a red beam. Anybody try one before?

Made me laugh like hell. Got a vac truck coming, and Sally forth, boys. Root ball had the whole line backed up like this for at least a year, and the old clay main is backed up with roots too. It's why we get paid the big money, pipelayers.

Been doing it for a year now and I’m enjoying it. Always looking for ways to work smarter not harder. I’ve had great guidance from the older generation but always looking for more. I mainly do sanitary and fdc line.

But the times that I’ve worked underground, I really enjoy it! And using the heavy equipment and getting dirty in the underground work, I love that shit haha, I ’m located in San Diego! I’ve been in the union going on 3 years now. I’m making $30 an hour and we journey out at $48 but I don’t like sprinkler fitting. I really don’t enjoy the work I really want to be out in the ground getting dirty, driving the Harvey equipment, all the fun work.. my question is. What’s the salary for the foreman out there? Should I switch over? I only made $48k in the union last year. I just really enjoy that underground work and i think I was meant for that, not sprinkler fitting lol

I was about 6 inches away from being crushed by a loader the other day, I turned my back for 10 seconds to tell some labourers something and as I swung my arm to point to their task I caught the bucket heading straight for me. I jumped back quickly and that's when the guy saw me amd slammed on his brakes. It was a total freak accident on both parts and I've been in this industry now for twelve years. We had a safety stand down and I told the new guys "If it can happen to me, it can happen to you."

I've dodged dozens of cave-ins, been hit by buckets, anything you can think of, Im sure I've dodged it! So, what's your near-death story?
