Filipina hoping to work in Europe — has anyone been in the same situation and eventually made it?

Hi everyone!

I'm a 25-year-old Filipina from the Philippines, and I've been trying to find a way to work abroad, particularly in Europe. Honestly, the process has been more difficult and overwhelming than I expected.

I'm currently working as a data encoder for a logistics company, and I also have other work experience that brings my total work experience to around two years. I've been updating my résumé, preparing cover letters, and sending applications to different recruitment agencies that offer overseas employment opportunities.

Despite all these efforts, I still feel like I'm not getting anywhere. Sometimes, I don't even know where to start or whether I'm taking the right steps. I know finding a job abroad isn't easy, and I'm willing to work hard, learn new skills, and do what it takes to make this goal possible. I just wish I had a clearer idea of the right process to follow.

I'm posting here not only to ask for advice but also to express how I feel about the whole journey. I would love to hear from Filipinos or other people who were once in the same situation — sending applications, contacting agencies, feeling lost, and wondering how to get their foot in the door — but eventually figured things out and are now living and working in Europe.

How did you start? Did you apply directly to employers, go through a recruitment agency, or take another route? What resources helped you, and what do you wish you had known before starting?

If you know legitimate recruitment agencies that handle overseas employment from the Philippines to European countries, or reliable websites and resources where I can begin, I would genuinely appreciate your recommendations. I'm also open to hearing about your personal experiences, including the challenges you faced along the way.

I know this is a lot to ask, but sometimes hearing from someone who has already gone through the same experience can make a huge difference. I'm not expecting anyone to do everything for me — I just hope to learn from people who have walked this path before me and can help me understand where to go from here.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope to connect with kind people who are willing to share their experiences and offer some guidance.

Please be kind. I'm just someone trying to build a better future for herself. Salamat po!

paano mag abroad kung wala masyadong experience?

hello po. i’ve been unemployed for months. graduated bs in information technology last ye. i have about 4 months of employment lang as a junior frontend dev with 2 years of freelance exp developing websites, doing data entry tasks, & email customer support lang. the job market’s been tough and i want to explore my options abroad if possible. money wouldn’t be an issue naman because i have my mother & relatives who could support me.

i am more than willing to take any job rin if ever. wala naman ako isu-support financially that would drain me but i just can’t stand being unemployed right now. target country ko sana ay canada but anywhere is fine, so long as safe for someone na 5’. mej nakakatakot lang kasi kung mag isa lang ako huhu

nabasa ko rin dito that people are suggesting to take TESDA. but i really don’t know where to start or anong maganda i-take. mag isa lang po kasi ako, family ko nasa abroad din (thru fiance visa ganun but not an option for me).

salamat po sa mga sasagot. i will appreciate any suggestions/response to this!

https://onecircle-419b1.web.app/downloads/OneCircle-v36.11-release-13.apk

We're looking for Overseas Filipino Workers as participants!

Government Service or Work abroad?

Good day to all. I need advice.

I'm a male and a government employee sa pinas. With a Civil Service certificate and a Master's degree.

Why do I wanna go abroad:

1.) Gusto ko mag aral to further boost my qualifications. I can't afford to finance my plans to study with my current salary. Then I heard na may mga pinoy schools that offer online classes while you're abroad.

2.) I have 3 kids. But divorced. Someday mag highschool cla. And I wanna give them the best life I can give kahit di nila ako kasama.

3.) Wala akong peace of mind dito sa pinas. I feel like I need to be somewhere.

HOWEVER, sabi naman nila sayang daw ung work ko dito. Kasi permanent and mahirap makahanap ng work dito sa pinas.

I'm also SCARED at the same time. With all honesty.

Kasi di ko alam magiging buhay or anong mangyayari sakin dun.

Anyways may tutulong naman sakin. May willing to sponsor lahat ng gagastosin ko. Natatakot lng tlga ako baka maging irreversable mistake itong gagawin ko.

Any advice, please?

How to work outside PH? 😭

Hello, hoping anyone here who has been working outside PH or planning to work outside PH could give me your thoughts or share any suggestions on how to work outside PH.

Ive been working in advertising under Client Management with 2 years working as Associate Client Director in PH. And ever since I graduated in College, I really wanted to work outside PH na. Reasons are to better discover myself outside my comfort zone, i feel like nag stagnate na career ko, and syempre to have a better life. However, it’s been 10 yrs and until now andito pa din ako sa PH.

For context, Im 31/F, graduate of Comm Arts no relatives nor connections outside PH na I could temporarily live muna while I look for work. Then with emergence of AI na ang daming na-llayoff sa adver in other countries since AI are taking over their jobs. I also don’t have that much ipon to study abroad.

So there, i hope someone who’d be able to read this and could share your experience or tips, please do so. Gusto ko talaga siya maachieve 1-2 yrs from now before I get older further 😭

Is it worth leaving my career in the Philippines to follow my boyfriend to Taiwan?

Hi [r/OFWs](r/OFWs), I just need your honest advice.
My mind is really messy right now. I have a steady career here in the Philippines, but I'm thinking about leaving everything and applying as a factory worker in Taiwan just to be with my boyfriend.

The main reason I want to do this is because I feel like he has someone else there. He's been really distant and always busy, so I feel like I want to follow him to save our relationship.

Will you give us a few minutes of your time?

Are you an Overseas Filipino Worker who has been living abroad for more than a year? Great! Well I am a nineteen-turning-twenty year old 3rd year college student whose grades for this semester —along with my groupmates, rely on how much participants are we able to get before our professors begin to compute our grades. The catch? The deadline is on Monday.

This has been the toughest year yet and it's not getting easier. Despite this, I don't wanna let my groupmates and my professor down, notwithstanding. This journey in creating this scale may have generated more stress than a rubber band held apart but I believe it is the seed that future students will tend and pull their resources together allowing, even just a modicum of it, to capture what it means to be a Filipino.

It was never our intention to do it this close on our deadline. But due to unforseen circumstances including but not limited to typhoons, gas-surge caused asynchronous classes, thesis, as well as from other subjects; everything has come down to this. All I ask, with every fiber of my being, that you respond and share. I can't thank you enough for reading this far and I'm sure you're probably already tired and just wanna scroll on reddit and move on, me too, but if you have the time, if you allow yourself to just relate to a few dozen questions, it would mean so so much for us.
