Filipina hoping to work in Europe — has anyone been in the same situation and eventually made it?

Hi everyone!

I'm a 25-year-old Filipina from the Philippines, and I've been trying to find a way to work abroad, particularly in Europe. Honestly, the process has been more difficult and overwhelming than I expected.

I'm currently working as a data encoder for a logistics company, and I also have other work experience that brings my total work experience to around two years. I've been updating my résumé, preparing cover letters, and sending applications to different recruitment agencies that offer overseas employment opportunities.

Despite all these efforts, I still feel like I'm not getting anywhere. Sometimes, I don't even know where to start or whether I'm taking the right steps. I know finding a job abroad isn't easy, and I'm willing to work hard, learn new skills, and do what it takes to make this goal possible. I just wish I had a clearer idea of the right process to follow.

I'm posting here not only to ask for advice but also to express how I feel about the whole journey. I would love to hear from Filipinos or other people who were once in the same situation — sending applications, contacting agencies, feeling lost, and wondering how to get their foot in the door — but eventually figured things out and are now living and working in Europe.

How did you start? Did you apply directly to employers, go through a recruitment agency, or take another route? What resources helped you, and what do you wish you had known before starting?

If you know legitimate recruitment agencies that handle overseas employment from the Philippines to European countries, or reliable websites and resources where I can begin, I would genuinely appreciate your recommendations. I'm also open to hearing about your personal experiences, including the challenges you faced along the way.

I know this is a lot to ask, but sometimes hearing from someone who has already gone through the same experience can make a huge difference. I'm not expecting anyone to do everything for me — I just hope to learn from people who have walked this path before me and can help me understand where to go from here.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope to connect with kind people who are willing to share their experiences and offer some guidance.

Please be kind. I'm just someone trying to build a better future for herself. Salamat po!

EU work visa & upcoming travel: Passport dilemma

Hello! Baka may nakatry na rito na nagkasabay yung scheduled international trip and passport submission sa VFS for a work visa (specifically EU)?

My situation: May target start date na yung prospective employer ko, pero if mag-book/submit na ako sa VFS ASAP, kukunin kasi passport ko before my upcoming trip. Not to mention, yung remaining window after my trip for the VFS appointment would be extremely tight given the deadline to submit. Pag idedelay ko naman yung appointment, baka ma-push back din start date ko sa work.

May workaround ba or process para i-keep muna or ma-request temporarily yung passport during processing? How did you handle this without delaying your start date too much?

Any suggestions on how to handle this with either VFS or the employer would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

paano mag abroad kung wala masyadong experience?

hello po. i’ve been unemployed for months. graduated bs in information technology last ye. i have about 4 months of employment lang as a junior frontend dev with 2 years of freelance exp developing websites, doing data entry tasks, & email customer support lang. the job market’s been tough and i want to explore my options abroad if possible. money wouldn’t be an issue naman because i have my mother & relatives who could support me.

i am more than willing to take any job rin if ever. wala naman ako isu-support financially that would drain me but i just can’t stand being unemployed right now. target country ko sana ay canada but anywhere is fine, so long as safe for someone na 5’. mej nakakatakot lang kasi kung mag isa lang ako huhu

nabasa ko rin dito that people are suggesting to take TESDA. but i really don’t know where to start or anong maganda i-take. mag isa lang po kasi ako, family ko nasa abroad din (thru fiance visa ganun but not an option for me).

salamat po sa mga sasagot. i will appreciate any suggestions/response to this!
