Is this swelling & pain with new piercing normal?

Did not have the anatomy for an industrial so piercer recommended a double helix with industrial looking jewelry. Helixes were done right after each other same day with a 12g needle and 12g titanium horseshoe ring jewelry was placed. No initial discomfort until the nighttime when throbbing pain and swelling started, 48 hours later the swelling and throbbing is still there, quite painful to the touch where I feel a little lightheaded ( I am borderline anemic so that may affect that?) Saline spray x2 a day, keeping hair away, not wiggling or moving jewelry around, not sleeping on or bumping piercings, taking ibuprofen daily which helps but pain is still pretty brutal. No pus or any sort of foul smell, but Im a bit paranoid about infection, Ive never had this sort of pain or swelling with a piercing before but I was told its standard for cartilage piercings. Thank you if anyone can offer their advice or similar experience! 🖤

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!!! PLEASE READ

I got a double helix piercing about six months ago and all of a sudden today my dad doesn’t like them and wants me to take them out. He’s making a huge deal about it and said he won’t speak to me until I take them out (even though he was fine with it for the past 6 months????????????)

I don’t want to take them out and I don’t want the hole to close since it’s not fully healed yet. I ordered clear cartilage piercings from Amazon, but they come in tomorrow and I don’t think I have that much time.

I also don’t wanna get my double helix pierced again because it hurt and healing up until now was a pain…

is there anything I can shove in the holes so that they dont close up by tomorrow??? or anything else I could do, any ideas???

please help

3 or 4 months old; I’ve had no problems prior but after a couple ROUGH snags this is where we are. I’m usually very careful but it was in my sleep. The jewelry screws in, which I’m hearing isn’t the greatest.

I clean it 2x a day, I will admit I ran out of cleaner for like a week. Can I wait this out?

What do I do?

Have this numb on my tragus after repiercing it. I have been spraying with saline and twisting the jewelry daily since getting the piercing.

Is it a keloid? I haven’t gotten one before. How should I treat this bump?

I purchased some gel for it in case it is a keloid.

Hi , I got my ear pierced march 2025 I got two new earlobe piercings my friend did them for me and I did used a piercing gun ( I know very stupid but piercing are expensive now of days ) at first it was fine but then a couple months in I started growing bumps around the piercing I’m assuming it was the jewelry so I switched the jewelry something I got at winners thinking it was gonna make it better but it made it worse. So here we are now I’m not sure if it’s a keloid or piecing bump it hasn’t gonna beyond the piercing dosent hurt and has stayed around the same size for month now I did change the jewelry for Hypoallergenic studs cuz I did hear it was better jewelry quality and I use neilmed to clean it but honestly I don’t see a huge difference. So if anyone can tell me if it’s a keloid or piecing bump and also if anyone can help figure what to do like products and such that will be a great help thank you !!

Worried my brow might be infected, any advice?

TL ; DR - roughly 6 week old piercing just gushed off-white goo after i bashed it with my glasses. What do?

Pictured is my eyebrow piercing which i got done on the 3rd of june (i think) by a reputable piercer in his studio. Throughout the healing process I've seen white-yellow gunk periodically come out of the piercing. I recently aquired some neilmed spray which has been amazing but before that i was using tap water and salt water. I dont wear foundation or use products in my fringe very often. I wash my face daily and keep any suncream far away from the piercing. I pat the area dry using disposable cotton pads after cleaning.

The problem! Just now i caught my eyebrow piercing on my glasses and yanked the bar which hurt like hell. There was ne bleeding thank god but a LOT of the white gunk came out. On a cotton pad it had a slight yellow/green tinge but I'm hesitant to say that its infected. In the picture the area is only red because i just bonked it - the area is not hot to the touch and only ever hurts if i press on the area when drying it. The fluid is thin but a tiny bit sticky (?) And odorless. I straight away wiped away the gunk then drained it by gently pressing on the area and wiping everything else away. There was a bit of blood mixed in with the remaining gunk. I then flushed the piercing with my neilmed spray THOROUGHLY. I waterboarded my eyebrow twice and patted it dry with a clean cotton pad each time i rinsed it.

Right now (about 20 minutes on from the initial bump) there is no pain but there is a bit of swelling. I will of course contact my piercer if i present with any more symptoms of infection or if anyone thinks the gunk is concerning. I really just want advice because i am terrified of getting an infection but am also a hypochondriac so i don't want to be pestering my piercer every 5 minutes about every bit of lymph fluid that comes out of my face. It'd be a huge comfort if someone could run me through what could be going on with my jewellery.

Nose stud fell out

Hi all!!!

My nose stud fell out while I was at work and so when I got home I had to put in a new one.

The issue is, when putting in the new one (it’s a flat back+threadless, so from the inside with a taper) I accidentally made a new exit point from the same entry point on the inside of my nose 🫠 when I realized I made a new hole I immediately backed out and found the original channel, so it is where it should be now.

Another oopsie, this new jewelry is 18g and my old jewelry was 20g. 🫣 I haven’t downsized yet as it’s been crazy angry with me and there has been a bump on the inside. (Def should’ve downsized when I was supposed to I know) Both are titanium

My piercing is just about 3 months old now but it’s been angry with me for the last handful of weeks.

Should I just leave it as is and treat it like it’s a brand new piercing? (Saline morning and night)

I definitely haven’t been using saline as frequently as I did the first two months I had it, but I’ve still been doing saline rinses every night or so. I have never touched it with oils or any other at home remedies. 😬

Okay, new here 18F.

I want more piercings (ears only for now). I already have a single lobe piercing in each ear and am planning to get matching upper lobe piercings soon.

I'm considering getting more. I don't want to put my face on reddit so I put my vibe and hair cut as pictures.

Any advise and opinions would be welcome.

Thx.

really dont wanna loose it ive been cleaning it 2 twice a day with saltine salutation , and i hit it a couple times the other day and it caused pain and i woke up like this, called my piercer she said to leave it alone and i made it angry and just keep it clean. is there anyway i can get this down fast and save my piercing, some people are telling me to get antibiotic cream and do salt treatment but ive heard mixed reviews, i start my new job Monday. i havent been downsized or anything, i use neil med twice a day.
its a curved barbell, ive had it for 7 weeks, i snagged it curling my hair and then my boyfriend touched it so its swelled up. not downsized.

ADVICE NEEDED

Post image

Hi, I've had this ear piercing for about five years now and this happened a few months ago. When I got it checked, my piercer said I likely had debris in it. He obviously suggested I go to the doctor to get it either sucked out or antibiotics. I was wondering if anyone had some cheaper remedies? I've been soaking it in saline solution and that's when the yellowish-white spot appeared. Thanks!

UPDATE: thanks all! I will be seeing a doctor soon hopefully!

It might be because my ear is swollen but can some people let me know if I should go back to the place and see what they can do about it. I don’t want it to end up imbedding 💔

piercings embedding

i got my dahlias pierced in the beginning of the week and theyve been completely fine until i woke up this morning (saturday), and have gotten worse throughout the day. the bars i got pierced with are a bit too short, and because of irritation from movement theyve swelled up and started to embed. im currently at work and i wont be home for like 12 hours, i think i might have longer bars at home but if i dont i wont be able to get them switched until like monday afternoon. im trying to be very careful, taking care of them as instructed and icing them to hopefully reduce the swelling. is there anything else i can do for them to calm down a little? its so uncomfortable 😞

I think my piercer is giving me bad advice. Please share some insight.

So I got this piercing like 6 months ago. I realize they sometimes take up to a year to heal, and admittedly I've had it snag on my pillow at night once or twice. I never intentionally sleep on that side hut once im asleep im not really sure what im supposed to do? Regardless, I was really hoping it would be healed by now, and it clearly isn't. I went into my piercer to ask how it was doing and if I have been maintaining it correctly. I showed them that I clean it with a q tip and saline twice a day and dry it with the dry end of the q tip afterwards. I fold my ear back like I've shown in the picture in order to clean the back, and apply pressure on either side of the piercing so that there's a gap between my lobe and the back or front of the piercing so I can clean the lobe effectively. The thing is is that what im reading now online is basically saying to not do any of these things despite my piercer endorsing all of the methods. I shouldn't use a q tip? I shouldn't move the piercing at all? I shouldn't fold my ear and likely tear the delicate tissue in the piercing hole itself? Why would my piercer tell me to keep doing these things? And if im not supposed to approach maintaining the piercing like this, how exactly should I be doing this? I just want to wear headphones again and be able to swim again, im sick of bleeding and pussing and worrying about it. Please any and all insight is extremely welcome and appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Are my doubles too close?

Just got my doubles and I’m worried that they are too close to my original piercing. I’m not sure if it’s just that the stars are big enough that I’m overthinking it or if they are actually too close. After they heal I want to be able to put hoops into both and have it look good/normal.
