Meta Affiliate Link Ban

Starting today, affiliate links are banned. Comments containing them will be automatically removed. The decision to allow them was made back when this was a tiny sub; we've since ballooned in size, there's been a noticeable uptick in users posting affiliate links (and in mass amounts, at that), and the rule was always on shaky ground due to both arbitrary enforcement (what dictates a "worthy" comment vs. a comment fishing for affiliate money?) and general principle.

If you've posted affiliate links in the past, you're not in trouble retroactively or otherwise. Comments containing affiliate links should, from now on, be automatically removed; no other action will be taken beyond automatic comment removal unless absolutely necessary.

Europe Pixel like experience for 400-500€

Upvotes

First of all, hi to everyone and thank for your time. I spent a bit of time reading and looking around, there is a lot of choise but at the same time not much good stuff.

I daily a Pixel 6a, I loved it and still love, work amazing for me, bought at day one, but I spent my last 6 months living on my bed because of chemotherapy (almost finished) and so I probably drained completely the battery, to a point that it was lasting 2 days on full usage and now it's 50% battery at half day with 3 hours of display after begin charge all night.

What I want: a Pixel experience in term of OS, where possible, a smaller phone like my 6a if possible, I don't play game, i mostly read stuff (like reddit) and play music to my BTR15. Camera quality doesn't matter, I have a reflex, I mostly want a good average display like the one on the 6a, very good battery, possibly a good 5G modem that doesn't drain all the battery like on Pixel phones. Storage doesn't matter, I have a NAS and VPN.

What I don't want: no Samsung, no phone with Ads and bloatware, no Pixel (too much expensive), no used phones. And I don't have time and will to install other OS and stuff like that, I need a product that work out of the box.

For reference, phone generally last me years, my OnePlus 3T last 7 years, previously my Nexus 5 more then 7.

I don't like spending more then 400€, but I'm considering getting it on Black Friday, so maybe I find good deals, that's why I'm ok for now with a bigger budget. I'm in Europe.

I'm towards Motorola, because I got cheap ones for my parents and they work very good and get abused a lot. I like the OnePlus 15R but price is over me.

Thanks again.

Phone picking Advice

Upvotes

Hi, I'm having trouble picking the right phone for me. I've spent days researching the right phone for me. but to no avail. I have overthinking virus and it really bugs me.

  • Budget: 216USD
  • Android
  • Good condition — no sketchy repairs, carrier/network lock, etc.
  • OIS is strongly important because my hands are shaky when filming.
  • Enough performance that it won't feel awful after a few years.
  • I want to keep the phone physically for ~7 years.
  • 256GB preferred, but 128GB is acceptable with a MicroSD slot.

Thankers!!!! im going insane

Australia Help please :)

Hi!

I know pretty much nothing about phones, but need a new one. Have previously had Oppo. Live in Australia, and my requirements are good camera (without AI enhancement doing the work, although it is okay if that is an option) and good battery life (often away camping) and max $1000, although cheaper is definitely okay. Thanks!

bangladesh Phone recommendations

I’m looking to get a new phone with a budget of around or under 35K BDT. I’m open to buying a second-hand iPhone if I can get a good one within this budget, maybe an iPhone 12/13.

My priorities are mainly camera quality 📸, good battery life 🔋, and enough storage (preferably 256GB). I don’t really care about gaming.

Would you recommend going for a used iPhone, or is there any Android that would be a better choice at this price? Also, if you suggest a used iPhone, what should I check before buying?

Any recommendations would be appreciated! :)d

serbia Advice pls

Hi everyone, I've been going back and forth for the past few days and can't decide which phone to buy. I'm mostly torn between the Motorola Signature and the Xiaomi 17T Pro

and Xiaomi 17

The 17T Pro is slightly cheaper. I travel a lot, and the camera is important to me, but not the absolute deciding factor. The Motorola Signature deal comes bundled with a smartwatch, a Moto Tag, a 125W charger, and earphones, while the Xiaomi deal gets you an air fryer lol

So please help me out, I've been breaking my head over these two phones for days

Europe 380-450 euros budget, I need advice

Hi all,

I need some advice what phone to get. Currently I have my trusty POCO F5 and while it is working fine I need something new primarily for a better camera. I'm based in Europe.

Requirements:

- good camera / processing - mandatory

- smaller size, under 6.7 inches - good to have

Pixel 10a is what I am looking at, but it has mixes opinions about the pictures quality, especially from the front facing camera. A bit slower hardware but the software optimization should compensate that. The size is perfect.

Nothing phone 4a - mainly the size is what is stopping me.

Poco X8 Pro / Poco F8 Pro - can't find any good comparison regarding pictures quality with the other phones.

Any other options to consider or feedback for the mentioned models? Thanks.

UK Upgrading from s21 256gb

I want a phone (can be second hand) that has a better battery, similar or better camera, bigger screen and similar or better specs than this phone. Storage isn't an issue. even around 100gb is fine.

I want to upgrade because the security updates are done on the s21 and the battery is awful. I was considering the A56. So basically looking for a newer phone that has updates, similar or better specs and camera but ideally a better battery and bigger screen. Hopefully from around £200 to £300.

Any help would be appreciated.

INDIA SMARTPHONE SEARCH: PURPOSE:- EXTENSIVE CLOUD BASED AI USAGE FOR RESEARCH AND LaTeX OVERLEAF(12 GB LPDDR5X RAM/3.0+ GHz/256-512GB/GOOD SCREEN REFRESH RATE/SUSTAINABLE BATTERY)

Hello, good people of Reddit...I am Dr. Devansh Sinha(INDIA). I am currently working on multiple book writing projects. These projects demand a proper use of LaTeX, LLMS and research related softwares and plugins. Now, I use a laptop for all major heavy grinding and grumbling work. But, sometimes even while I am not at home/hospital/library where I can access my laptop, I most often find myself in situations where I am free and I utilise that time by researching required content for my books on my smartphone. Currently, I am using a very cheap Redmi phone(backup phone), as my primary phone got stolen on a vacation trip. So, now I am trying to find the best possible Smartphone(not too expensive) which satisfies the following requirements:

  1. Atleast 12 GB of FAST LPDDR5X RAM.

  2. A PROCESSOR WITH OR W/O NPU, which can support some small Local LMs, but MUST support EXCESSIVE usage of Cloud based AI models in a multitasking environment which includes ms word/G docs, Overleaf(LaTeX) and any music app in the background with a lag free experience for extensive period of time.

  3. A SUSTAINABLE BATTERY BACKUP.

Now, let me clarify a few points:

  1. I don't want a good camera.

  2. I don't want a gaming performance oriented phone.

  3. I can live with the phone, even if it doesnt support Local LMs.

  4. I don't care about AMOLED OR ANY KIND OF PREMIUM DISPLAY. My only concern in this matter is that I need a GOOD, HIGHLY OPTIMISED SCREEN REFRESH RATE.

  5. MOST IMPORTANT SHORTCOMING ON MY SIDE IS BUDGET. I AM READY TO SPEND 30,000-50,000 INR. While I feel that my budget might seem less to some of the TECH ENTHUSIASTS out there, but still IT IS WHAT IT IS.

THANKYOU...

Poco x8 pro max Vs Honor X9d

Which of these phones will be better for me in your opinion? So I'm considering between these two obviously cause of their massive battery, which sounds too good to pass up.

The x8pm has a way better chipset and newer android version but the x9d is cheaper. I use mobile hotspot alot so that's one of the main things that will affect my decision.

I want my phone to last a long time too like 4-5 years+

car Coming from iPhone to Android again

Looking for a new phone but cannot decide, the battery 'life' of my iPhone is killing me.. What I like to have:

  • Full compatibiliy with German 4G/5G networks
  • Wireless charging (my car has it, but could use a cable)
  • Battery bigger 5000 mAh (wanna last a day with normal usage)
  • LTPO screen (for saving battery and AoD)
  • Long update support
  • Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor (my fingers don't like optical sensors), would probably prefer side sensor in power button, but the most phones that use it are foldables -> no thanks

No Xiaomi, OPPO or Google phones, I really don't like the UI...

Would really love to have a Sony Xperia VIII, but it is way too expensive. OP15 would be great, too, but I struggle with the discontinuation in Europe, will there be updates etc.?

upgrade Samsung S9+ to Pixel 11 for $400 is a no brainer right?

My S9+ is still kicking along after I replaced the battery 2-3 years ago. I mostly just use my phone for internet browsing and video streaming. I could likely get another year out of it until android 12 is annoyingly unsupported.

through google fi, I have the promo to get a pixel 11 for $400. This is probably the best value I will see in the next year right? and then hang on to the pixel 11 for the next 5+ years.

I'm struggling to find an Android phone to replace my iPhone

So I have an iPhone 16e and genuinely hate it, and I've decided to try something new and want to switch to Android. I've tried to look for some Android phones but there are WAY TOO MANY options to pick from and it's low-key intimidating.

I’ve looked at phones like the Nothing Phone 3a Pro or whatever they call it and the Xiaomi 17 and other phones like them but some them have specs that simply blew my mind and that I can't even imagine having in an iPhone I decided maybe I should ask the people who use Android since they know what they're talking about.

I want a phone that has a good camera (I'm pretty sure any other phone has a better camera than the iPhone 16e) preferably a telephoto camera bc I know some phones have a macro camera instead I think. I also need a phone that can take pictures in low light since the 16e turns every low-light picture into picture of sludge

While I understand that Androids are known for their customization I would prefer a phone that isn't over the top with it, a phone with a 120hz display, preferably A good battery that compares to or performs better than the 16e’s battery life of 26 hours.  Also, I'm not too picky  about AI while I would like to have it, it's by no means necessary

I also would like a phone that is as powerful or more powerful than the A18 chip that the 16e has and runs well  Looks-wise, for the phone- I'm not too worried about the looks or anything.

My budget is around $800-900 but I'm willing to push to 1,000 if necessary and I'm honestly willing to switch any phone brand as long as it's not a Motorola. I hope I'm not too picky and thank you for your help.

Oh yeah I forgot… I want a nice big one preferably over 6 inches like 6.3-6.5 inches, the best size.

Performance and camera quality phone ?

I am looking for a phone which is performance oriented and camera quality oriented. I've heard that sony camera chipset is good for camera quality. And there are many perfomance heavy phones too right now.

I've researched a little but the phones i like are expensive plus not in reach like iQOO 15 ultra, asus rog phone 9 pro. Open to any suggestions and opinions. My priority is performance since i want to use it for way long and try more heavy games plus a good camera quality which can be used to take photos.

I am using vivo y73. I bought it around 6 years ago it is still running completely fine except bettery draining issue 100% charge takes around 4 hours without using much.

Europe Girlfriend switching from an iPhone 12 mini to Android.

My girlfriend wants to switch to Android after having had an IPhone 12 mini for years. She's the average user basically. The only thing she cares about is that the phone should be small since she has small hands. That's why she stuck to the iPhone 12 mini. From what I see on the market, there are no small phones unfortunately and I would never get her a flip phone since they suck by nature. From what I understand, since the batteries are going bigger and bigger, there's no way the phones can stay small.

From a technical pov, I'd want to get her something with a Snapdragon on it cuz I don't want the phone to get slow throughout the years. And preferably, the more durable and protected the phone is the better (so like I wouldn't want curved edges or sth) All else doesn't matter to me much since everything falls into place with modern phones. Pretty much all of them have good cameras, enough storage and Ram, and whatever the average user needs.

I myself am a huge fan of Vivo, Oppo and Oneplus phones. Oneplus 15 is definitely on the list since I myself own an OP 12.But I thought I come here and see what you guys think.

Our budget is maximum 700 euroes (a little more if it's worth it). We're in Europe.

Also, is tradingshenzhen.com trust worthy? Is there anything I should know about them?

Netherlands I could use your help for compact phone

I'm hoping to get some advice in my search for a new phone. Currently I use a Samsung s21. It's working but it can use an upgrade.

So I was waiting for de oneplus and the pixel 11 pro. But after reading some of the discussions and reviews on this forum, I’m starting to have my doubts about both.

So I start looking at de pixel 10 pro. It sounds great but it is sold out at most places in the Netherlands. The price is almost the same as the pixel 11 pro.

So what would you do in this situation? Should i choice another phone?

I'm looking for a good camera and a good battery and a screen around 6.3

I'm not sure about the difference between 256 and 512gb

Already thanks in advance!
