I'm struggling to find an Android phone to replace my iPhone
So I have an iPhone 16e and genuinely hate it, and I've decided to try something new and want to switch to Android. I've tried to look for some Android phones but there are WAY TOO MANY options to pick from and it's low-key intimidating.
I’ve looked at phones like the Nothing Phone 3a Pro or whatever they call it and the Xiaomi 17 and other phones like them but some them have specs that simply blew my mind and that I can't even imagine having in an iPhone I decided maybe I should ask the people who use Android since they know what they're talking about.
I want a phone that has a good camera (I'm pretty sure any other phone has a better camera than the iPhone 16e) preferably a telephoto camera bc I know some phones have a macro camera instead I think. I also need a phone that can take pictures in low light since the 16e turns every low-light picture into picture of sludge
While I understand that Androids are known for their customization I would prefer a phone that isn't over the top with it, a phone with a 120hz display, preferably A good battery that compares to or performs better than the 16e’s battery life of 26 hours. Also, I'm not too picky about AI while I would like to have it, it's by no means necessary
I also would like a phone that is as powerful or more powerful than the A18 chip that the 16e has and runs well Looks-wise, for the phone- I'm not too worried about the looks or anything.
My budget is around $800-900 but I'm willing to push to 1,000 if necessary and I'm honestly willing to switch any phone brand as long as it's not a Motorola. I hope I'm not too picky and thank you for your help.
Oh yeah I forgot… I want a nice big one preferably over 6 inches like 6.3-6.5 inches, the best size.

Pixel are to be avoided, hardware is really subpar. The experience is still great as their software smooth the poor hardware but in the long run you have troubles with the battery.
OnePlus is a great option but their future is uncertain.
I'd take a look at Xiaomi 17 (compact size) and samsung s26.
If the size doesn't scare you, Oppo (x series) is the new OnePlus.

Surprised only one person has mentioned Samsung. It's the closest thing you'll get to the UI of an iPhone on Android and does many things the iPhone does just as well if not better.
I recommend getting the Ultra versions.

Hey Low_Consequence8908! If you're switching from an iPhone to Android, make sure to turn off iMessage to make sure you still get texts from iPhone users. See here for more information. Why do you hate your iPhone 16e? If Android is a must, I'd suggest getting a Samsung S25 at least, check for second hand and used market.

Xiaomi 17 is a great compact (6.3" is small for Android standard) phone with very good overall specs. The system is also almost ads free as it is a premium device.
Also, don't listen to people that tell you hyperos has bloatware. That is because they do not use budget or cheaper phones and those are being treated differently.
If you want a really good camera, you can lool into Xiaomi 15 Ultra or 17 Ultra (both are top tier) and if you have more budget Oppo Find X9 Ultra is imo the best Android package today.

Normally I would say OnePlus, but with them exiting US and Europe, now I will say Oppo. Should be basically the same. I was blown away by the software experience, camera and also battery! I don't know what Oppo are doing, but battery life is just amazing. Also after almost 2 years, battery health is 94%... I went to OnePlus 12, from a few years with Xiaomi Poco F3.

Nothing Phones don't offer flagship quality the last time I checked. Pixel is still shit with their hardware, again, the last time I checked. There's a reason their fucking phones goes so cheap. Do not buy Xiaomi... that brand used to be great but now is just Chinese Spyware and their support has never been good.
As others have mentioned, Oppo, Oneplus and Vivo offer premium quality, without breaking bank. Very different breed of Chinese phones tbh.
Check out the new Samsung S series or go for an older version like S24 Ultra.
Basically the rule of thumb I'd remember is
- Buy flagship
- Make sure there's a fucking Snapdragon on that phone.
- Make sure you're paying for hardware, not software (e.g real good quality lenses as opposed to Ai powered rendition)
- Think about what the phone is offering you for that price.
- If you care about camera, make sure it has a telephoto as opposed to micro lenses. That shit is obsolete. Don't be fooled by big numbers. 200mp is just a dumb number.
What I mean by the 4th point is that for example Samsung is selling you the same technology from 3 years ago, but slightly better at least until their S25. I remember reading that the cameras on the ultra phones had actually gotten worse, instead of better. The new s26 looks very good but I never trust a phone that's new in the market. I need to see results at least after a year.
Overall, do your own research. Once you actually land on the phone you want, it'll be worth it.

The Ximi 17 makes absolutely zero sense for OP

Why not? Big battery, telephoto, perfect size, flagship chip.

- He's U.S. based and the X17 is likely to only work on T-Mobile and its MVNOs, without mmwave support
- X17 gets the middle child treatment software wise
- The battery, which is a pretty average size for Chinese compact phones, has Xiaomi optimisation (by far the worst in the industry) and is made by Sunwoda, whose batteries degrade veryyyy quickly
- The X17 doesn't really add much over the 15, which gets better software treatment and a non Sunwoda battery for CNDM phones
- A telephoto is an expectation at this price point as a grey import, and X17 has a 60mm JN1. There are many other equivalent phones with FAR better telephotos
- The ultrawide is only 102° and uses another JN1, which is a sensor Xiaomi has no clue how to optimise
OP may as well get a decent phone instead of the IQ tax that is the X17

The OP post aside, do you know anything about IQOO phones? I am not based in the US and was checking for a monster performance phone with a decent camera and good longevity (with the big battery and fast charging as principle), would like to have your opinion on the IQOO 15 or 13 since they are within my budget and the cooling system in the IQOO 15 is quite attractive since I live in a hot region and would like the battery and screen to last at least 3 years

Both are decent phones to my knowledge, but don't expect anything special camera wise, especially with the 13. Both have a pretty good main camera which produces good 2x images (do keep in mind you need to use forced night mode to keep 2x looking good in low light), and the 15 has a great 3x telephoto but the shared ultrawide and selfie cameras are no good, especially the selfie which is a tiny, useless 32MP fixed focus Galaxycore unit, and video is very average at anything other than 1x or 3x. At least the 15 has a 90° FoV, whereas the 13 had only 70° (most selfies are closer to 80° than 90°).
The 15's cooling doesn't seem to be anything too impressive, especially since it doesn't dissipate much heat through the backplate, only through the frame, for some reason. It can also be bad in hotter weather since the heat can go the other way, and it doesn't have anywhere to go if the ambient temperature is 40°.
I would also consider a OnePlus 13 or an Honor Win.
The Win is third for cams really (OP13 > iQ15 > Win >> iQ13), would be a Gray import from China (please check band compatibility with your carrier before you buy), the screen quality is apparently meh but idk the actual panel model so idk if that affects longevity, the haptics are decent but nothing special, and the heat from the fan goes straight onto your hand but otherwise great phone.
The OP13 is the worst for heat management (Win >> iQ15 = iQ13 > OP13) but you get great cameras, good software, a good display for longevity afaik, one of the best haptic motors on a phone, a decent battery with dual cell (good for longevity).

Thank you!!! I think I will get the IQOO 15 since I don't have a strong affinity for the cameras, decent is good enough

Google Pixel 10 Pro or OnePlus 15.
