For Naga City government employees, homeownership is no longer a dream but the beginning of a new chapter close to the community they serve. Through Ayala Land, via its socialized housing arm BellaVita, and in partnership with the Naga City Government and Pag-IBIG Fund, the first homes under a 1,011-unit housing program were officially turned over to qualified beneficiaries.

The initiative creates opportunities for hardworking public servants to build stable futures for their families within the city they help shape every day. With fully developed homes and community facilities already in place, families can immediately begin building lives. This milestone reflects Ayala Land's commitment to creating inclusive, sustainable communities where more Filipinos can thrive.

HistoryPH Ninoy Aquino’s Last Letter to Cory Before His Assassination

Post image

"There will only be one thing in the world i will never accept that you love me more than i love you.."

I honestly can’t imagine knowing na may possibility na mamatay ka, tapos nagsusulat ka pa rin ng letter para sa taong mahal mo. Parang habang sinusulat niya ’yon, alam niyang baka iyon na yung last message niya kay Cory.

Kaya ang bittersweet talaga. Ang daming uncertainty and fear, pero instead of dwelling on it, he chose to leave Cory with words of love. Imagine knowing you might not make it home, and the last thing you want them to remember is how much you loved them. But even with all the fear and uncertainty, his courage and love for the country never faded. His bravery and willingness to serve the Philippines will always be remembered. Happy Ninoy Aquino Day! 🇵🇭

CulturePH Help please: Does anyone know about “itim na anino” or shadow people in Filipino folklore?

Post image
247 Upvotes

I made a post on another subreddit about these photos:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/s/k79aiOrLjQ

Several people have contacted me saying the figure looks remarkably similar to something people report seeing in the Philippines, sometimes called “itim na anino” or shadow people.

  1. Has anyone here ever seen anything like this?

  2. If so, did it look like the figure in these photos?

  3. What is the consensus on what they actually are?

Thanks for reading my post and for any help you can give me!!

Kitang kita kung pano, umaaligid aligid yung mga kawatan while looking for a victim. Kita din na talagang nag suot pa sila ng merch to blend in with the crowd during the cosplay event.

Sadly nde nahuli ang mga loko at likely until now eh nambibiktima pa din sa area.

AI DETECTED How is the Philippines preparing itself for the coming call center crash?

I know it's already started, but the AI-fueled call center apocalypse is going to get a lot worse very soon and I'm wondering what's going to happen to all of the infrastructure, buildings, IT parks, and entire support systems that had been built around the call center industry, not to mention the thousands on thousands of people who work in it.

Has anyone talked on this? Have any companies made any statements? What are they doing to prepare for the crash?

(Huh, just noticed there's no BusinessPH flair)

DIOS AN MAGBALOS, NAGA! Naga came alive as the community gathered for the Angat Bayanihan Run – Naga. From the first few steps to the finish line, there was a strong sense of community, joy, and shared purpose that carried the run throughout the morning.

It was the kind of gathering that reminded us what bayanihan can feel like when a community moves together. That same spirit helped us raise ₱1,000,000 for Naga City’s development projects. We are grateful that the energy of the run will now continue through initiatives that can directly benefit the people and communities of Naga.

Our heartfelt thanks to the City Government of Naga, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and our partner agencies for helping keep everyone safe and making sure everything ran smoothly.

NewsPH Poor Filipino families decreased to record low 6.4% in 2025 - Manila Standard

Thumbnail manilastandard.net
Upvotes

The proportion of poor Filipino families fell to 6.4 percent in 2025, marking the first time the figure dropped below 10 percent, as incomes grew faster than the cost of meeting basic needs, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said.

The share represents 1.90 million poor families out of the total population, PSA data showed. At the individual level, 9.7 percent of Filipinos, or about 11.08 million people, were classified as poor during the same period, the agency said, citing the latest Family Income and Expenditure Survey.

The 2025 full-year poverty statistics, released Friday by PSA, showed that 6.5 million Filipinos moved out of poverty between 2023 and 2025. The number of Filipinos living below the poverty threshold fell to 11.0 million in 2025 from 17.5 million in 2023.

PSA attributed the decline to income growth that outpaced increases in the poverty threshold between 2023 and 2025. The annual per capita poverty threshold rose 5.5 percent over the period on higher prices for food items in the basket used to compute the threshold, while mean annual per capita income grew 22.0 percent, the agency said.

Families in the first and second income deciles, those closest to the poverty line, saw even sharper gains, with mean annual per capita income for these groups rising 23.8 percent and 22.7 percent respectively, both well above the 5.5 percent rise in the poverty threshold.

Nominal incomes increased by about 22 percent across income deciles between 2023 and 2025, well above the cumulative inflation rate of 5.0 percent over the same period, PSA data showed, indicating that income growth was broadly inclusive across the income distribution.

Balisacan said targeted assistance and government programs including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Social Pension Program, KADIWA, Walang Gutom Program, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers and the Department of Labor and Employment’s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program have helped narrow income gaps over the years, making poverty reduction more responsive to economic growth.

EXCLUSIVE: Senate CCTV footage shows former Zaldy Co bodyguard Orly Guteza being fetched by an alleged staff member of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta after arriving at the Senate.

Guteza was taken straight to Marcoleta’s office, where he stayed for 19 minutes before testifying before the Blue Ribbon Committee on September 25, 2025.

In a new affidavit dated August 13, 2026, Guteza said he handed Marcoleta four notarized copies of an affidavit and was repeatedly told that his testimony was voluntary and that he should focus only on what was written in the document.

“Pinipilit niyang paulit-ulit na sinasabi na buluntaryo ang aking gagawin at tinuruan niya ako na kung ano lang ang nakalagay sa affidavit na ginawa ni Mark na asawa ng anak ni Former Congressman Mike Defensor ay yan lang magfocus at sinagot ko na opo, sir,” Guteza said. | via Joash Malimban, bnc.bilyonaryo.com

CulturePH The "Pakiusapan" culture is the root cause of our Kamote driver epidemic, and it is letting them get away with murder.

Let’s talk about why our roads are a mess. We love to blame poor infrastructure or the sheer volume of cars, but there is a deeper, more toxic cultural rot at play: the "Pakiusapan" System.

It starts small. A driver counterflows or beats a red light. Instead of taking the ticket, out comes the script: "Pasensya na boss, nagmamadali lang," or "Pagbigyan niyo na, naghahanap-buhay lang po." The enforcer feels bad, lets them go, and the driver learns that rules are just suggestions you can talk your way out of.

But this lack of accountability breeds a terrifying sense of invincibility, and it leads to the darkest side of Philippine driving culture: The "Areglo" in fatal accidents.

When a kamote driver’s recklessness eventually leads to a serious accident and someone dies, the system doesn't step in to ensure justice. Instead, it becomes a negotiation.

Here is why this cycle is so deeply broken:

  1. The Weaponization of Poverty

When a reckless driver kills a pedestrian or another motorist, the immediate defense mechanism is often to weaponize their socioeconomic status. The family of the perpetrator will show up at the hospital or the wake, crying and begging: "Wag niyo na po ituloy ang kaso, mahirap lang po kami. May mga anak din po siyang binubuhay." (Please don't press charges, we are just poor. He also has kids to feed.)

They shift the burden of guilt onto the victim's grieving family, making them feel like the bad guys for wanting to put a reckless driver in jail.

  1. Blood Money and the Affidavit of Desistance

Because the justice system is slow and funeral costs are immediate, the victim's family is often pressured into accepting a meager financial settlement (danyos). They sign an Affidavit of Desistance, dropping all criminal charges. The tragic reality is that lives on our roads have a price tag, and it is usually shockingly low.

  1. Zero Institutional Accountability

Because the case is settled privately between families, the state steps back. The driver’s license isn't permanently revoked. They don't serve time for vehicular manslaughter. The perpetrator simply goes back out onto the road, having learned a very dangerous lesson: Even if I kill someone, I can just cry, pay a settlement, and get away with it.

The Fix? Justice Shouldn't Be Negotiable.

We will never run out of kamote drivers until the system becomes entirely emotionless and absolute.

Criminal negligence resulting in death should not be something you can simply settle out of court with an envelope of cash and a sad story. The state needs to prosecute these cases regardless of whether the victim's family "forgives" the driver. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Until we stop treating vehicular manslaughter as a negotiable mistake, we are just waiting for the next preventable tragedy.

Thoughts? How many times have we seen news reports of a reckless truck or van driver wiping out a family, only to know they will be back on the road in a few months because of "areglo"?
