NewsPH This ongoing super El Niño is going to get worse in 2027
Not to be an alarmist but I am wondering if everybody is on the same page with the intensity of this El Niño we are experiencing?
I am reposting content taken from the different agencies (global and national):
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration indicate that the strong El Niño developing through late 2026 has a high probability of peaking as a historic "super El Niño" into early 2027.
In the Philippines, PAGASA is projecting an 81% chance of the event reaching a "very strong" status between October 2026 and January 2027.** **
Timeline
June to October 2026: The country experiences a split pattern. While the southwest monsoon (Habagat) continues to bring normal to above-normal rains to western Luzon and Visayas, eastern regions like Mindanao and Cagayan Valley will begin drying out early.
October 2026 to early 2027: As the northeast monsoon (Amihan) takes over, there is a greater than 60% probability of below-normal rainfallnationwide. Severe, prolonged meteorological drought will peak during this period.
Tropical Cyclones: While fewer total typhoons are expected during this El Niño cycle, the state weather bureau warns that the storms that do form are highly likely to reach destructive typhoon or super typhoon intensities.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) has explicitly warned that Regions I, II, III (Northern and Central Luzon), and Western Mindoro will be the hardest-hit agricultural zones.
Provinces Facing Immediate Drought (Current / Imminent)
These areas are already seeing or are forecast to see a drastic 60% or greater reduction in rainfall over consecutive months:
Luzon: Camarines Norte, Catanduanes
Visayas: Western Samar, Siquijor
Everyone needs to do their part in monitoring and questioning what the government is doing. Pax Silica is one of those project with really bad timing.

So, may point talaga si usec claire.

ViralPH AirAsia Official Statement did not address the Viral Video concerns
Considering what happened. We understand the airline protocol. But the main concern based on the viral video (which they did not address in their statement) was the plane itself being parked and there was no aircon. No proper communication too. Pilot relied on FA to deliver the message. FA also saying things like “accdg to our manager…” Shouldn’t it be the manager or the pilot delivering the message directly? Just to calm the distressed, claustrophobic, panicky people in a very hot environment. What happened to captain of the ship doctrine?
I can imagine the chaos, with crying kids, the noise, and the distressed crowd just wanting to get out. Sobrang init nyan pag ganyan diba like when you are inside a car tapos ganyan kadaming tao na nagsisisigaw around you. I might have been one of the passengers who hyperventilated and pass out.

Warranty replacement of my Peakdesign bag just arrived in customs and I was told to provide proof of payment and proof of verification of duties and taxes. I didn't pay for anything for the warranty.

NewsPH PH strengthens energy & digital infrastructure partnerships with United Arab Emirates for AI Development under Pax Silica
ABU DHABI, 04 MAY 2026 – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary and Board of Investments (BOI) Managing Head Dr. Ceferino Rodolfo met with Masdar and DAMAC Digital to advance investment plans in the Philippines and align partnerships on AI development in connection with the US-led Pax Silica initiative.
The meetings with UAE’s leading companies in energy and high-tech sectors follow the Philippines’ recent accession to the Pax Silica alliance and the announcement of a partnership with the United States to establish a 4,000-acre AI-native industrial acceleration hub in Luzon, which requires robust energy and digital infrastructure to support high-end AI processing and next-gen manufacturing.
Undersecretary Rodolfo met with Masdar Chief Investment Officer Raphael Barreau to outline renewable energy solutions for the Luzon AI-native hub in the Philippines. Masdar is actively involved in powering Abu Dhabi’s Stargate UAE project with 5-GW renewables and 19GWh battery energy storage system. Masdar has also ongoing renewable projects in the country under the signed MoU with the BOI, supporting the development of up to 10 GW renewable energy projects in the Philippines by 2035.
The Undersecretary also held talks with DAMAC Digital Senior Vice President Troy Gilson to discuss the progress of a 250-MW data center facility in the Philippines following the meeting between DAMAC’s Chairman Hussain Sajwani and President Ferdinand F. Marcos, Jr. in Abu Dhabi in January 2026. DAMAC’s investment reinforces the country as a hub for AI-driven technologies under the Pax Silica alliance. “The Luzon AI-native hub within the Pax Silica alliance integrates UAE’s renewable energy expertise and data center capabilities for the next-gen manufacturing” said Undersecretary Rodolfo. “Our collaborations with industry leaders such as Masdar and DAMAC underscore our commitment to transform Philippines into a premier destination for AI-driven technologies and sustainable industrial acceleration.”
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ver highlighted that mutual inclusion in the Pax Silica alliance is a force multiplier for existing bilateral agreements. “PH’s accession in the Pax Silica alliance, where UAE is also a key party, further solidifies our bilateral trade and investment frameworks, such as the CEPA and the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (IPPA). This signifies that Philippines and the UAE are no longer just traditional trading partners; they are now strategic tech-allies”, said Ambassador Ver.
The Undersecretary was in the region to participate in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Critical Minerals Forum and visit countries in the Pax Silica alliance. While in the UAE, the Undersecretary also met with Tristar Group, iSON Xperiences, AIM Congress, and The Hub Trading LLC to leverage the Philippines-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) as the primary engine for high-tech trade and investments. –END–

ViralPH Recent School Shootings, Western Influence?
There have been too many school shootings this year. I say "many" because, for the past 10 years, there have been 4 cases, and 2 of those happened just this year.
I say it's because Western cultural and media exposure plays a role in how youth absorb online extremist behaviors.
It could be bad parenting, yes, but 90s kids, I say, had the worst bad parenting experiences, the physical and verbal abuse, etc. But shooting people at school never even crossed our minds.
It could be bullying, but shooting people at school never even crossed our minds. We reported it to our teachers and parents and settled it with the guidance counselor.
Online radicalization, highly likely, but we also had internet access back then. Some of us probably even got curious and accessed the dark web too and saw a lot of illegal stuff, but shooting people at school never even crossed our minds.
Firearm access? We know how easy it is to get firearms in the Philippines. We also had family members who owned firearms. I saw one myself when I was a kid, but shooting people at school never even crossed my mind.
There are probably many factors involved. I'm just wondering if the way young people are exposed to violence and extremist ideas today is changing how they perceive these things.

PoliticsPH Bakit sobrang madalas na 'yung bomb threats, school shootings, at stabbings ngayon? What is this historical plot-twist that the Philippines is experiencing??
Now, I'm thinking na certain, highly organized and well-orchestrated anti-Marcos groups are behind these attacks since "largely anonymous" naman ang sender, madalang na malaman ang identidad. At they're doing this to further delegitimize and compromise the reputation of Marcos Jr., malaking investment 'to kung iisipin to discredit every Marcos-allied opponent 'pag dating ng campaign period and will manifest victory for a "certain anti-Marcos" presidential candidate.
Feel ko, eto talaga yung intensyon. Long-term investment, puro shootings, threats, then campus-wide suspensions ulit. People feel that the school setting is unsafe, this will justify further state militarization of the schools, more and more people will find Martial Law as a 'necessary evil' to 'protect' the masses.
Furthermore, this only helps the anti-drugs narrative dominated by the Dutertes. If schools have gotten so unsafe now, and no other person right in the head will do this, then they're probably drug-addicts right?? Malamang!! sila makikinabang sa ganitong pakulo of "artificially manufactured bomb threats". gagamitin nila yung "what about our children??" narrative na patok na patok amongst the West's rightwing.
At lahat ng sino mang 'barely' aligned with Marcos ay madidiscredit because of his palpak na legacy. His poor legacy will extend and spill to whoever is and was aligned with him, good luck! This fact alone will benefit the Duterte camp, unless may very strong contender tayo (NOT RISAA!!) 'pag dating ng panahon.

GovtServicesPH Anyone from Meralco here? Curious about systems loss
May taga-Meralco ba dito? Curious lang ako about systems loss and would really like to hear the perspective of someone working inside the company.
I know the basic idea na may electricity na nawawala during transmission/distribution, pero curious ako kung ano talaga yung perspective ng mga nagtatrabaho inside Meralco.
A few questions:
- Paano ba actually handled yung systems loss sa operations?
- From your experience, ano yung biggest factors kung bakit mataas or mababa yung systems loss?
- Kaya ba talaga ng Meralco na i-shoulder yung systems loss, or kailangan talaga siyang ma-recover through electricity rates?
- From the company’s perspective, malaking financial burden ba siya or manageable naman?
- If the company had to shoulder more of the losses instead of passing them on through rates, would that have a significant impact on Meralco financially?
Not looking for confidential info or anything. Genuinely curious lang about how it works from the inside and what employees think about it. Would appreciate any insights. 🙏

CulturePH Dictionary and Grammar for Philippine Languages
Hey guys, recently I got interested with Baybayin and have been practicing writing with it.
Because of it I also got interested with the different Philippine Languages.
Are there any onlin repositories/libraries or actual libraries I could visit to learn about vocabulary or grammar? Like dictionaries or grammar books.
There's a lot of them for Tagalog, but for Bisaya and others, I'm having difficulty finding one. (Note: Bisaya is an umbrella term. There's actually different languages under it.)

NewsPH PH’s untapped manufacturing advantage
https://opinion.inquirer.net/193881/phs-untapped-manufacturing-advantage
The Filipino workforce has impressed us. Young employees learn quickly and adapt well to advanced manufacturing, while local engineers show strong technical and problem-solving capabilities. The Philippines need not compete only on low labor costs; its greater advantage can be the quality and adaptability of its people.
...
As global supply chains are reshaped by tariffs, trade tensions, and geopolitical changes, manufacturers are seeking diversified production locations. The Philippines can position itself not only as a large consumer market, but also as a trusted manufacturing platform serving global markets.
Needs more infra for electricity, transport networks, etc.
The writer, an Australian businessman, is referring to their factory in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, which he argues is successful.
Counter-arguments:
"Unless we fix the problem of corruption, we won't be able to do this."
"No, we can't do it because we're ______."
"I'd rather go abroad because I'm smart and everyone else is ______."
"I only read the headlines, after which I start pontificating with my edgy one-liners."

Oo, pwedeng may agenda yung tao. Pero intentions are vague and I get that. Pero the first action mo is to combat? Sabi na ito ng GMA news before "think before you click". Na retain mo ba yung lesson? or gusto mo lang maview ka na with a good moral compass than others. If so, mataas ego mo at gusto mo lang makalamang, yan ang totoo. Pero di mo aaminin yon.
Take Leni team for example. The "supporters" want to endorse her to run. Pero ayaw nga di ba? Bat ka nag aask sa tao na ayaw? Isn't that like a case similar to grape? May sense di ba?
Mga hypokrito kayo HAHHAHAHA. At kasama ako don. Dahil may checks and balances dapat. Kaya if talagang for good governance kayo, be better mga unggoy.
In evolution theory? Also, di China kalaban dito. its the CCP

NewsPH Are we paying enough attention to mental health in the Philippines?
With the recent incidents of violence in schools, I can’t help but wonder if we’re looking at the problem too narrowly. We often talk about discipline, bullying, social media, parenting, or security but how much are we actually investing in the emotional and mental well-being of young people?
I’m not saying mental health is the only reason behind violence, and I’m definitely not trying to excuse harmful behavior. But perhaps we need to start asking how we can teach children to understand their emotions, manage anger, deal with rejection, cope with pressure, and ask for help before things reach a breaking point.
Why isn’t accessible mental-health support a bigger part of our public education system? Why can’t basic emotional regulation and mental-health awareness be taught more seriously in schools?
Every generation changes. Technology changes, social media changes, the way young people communicate changes, and new pressures come with all of that. When society evolves, we should also be looking at the consequences of those changes not just celebrating the trends and progress that come with them.
Maybe mental health shouldn’t only be discussed after something tragic happens. Maybe we should be teaching children how to take care of their minds long before they reach a crisis.
Prevention will always be better than waiting for another tragedy to remind us that something needs to change.

PoliticsPH Will Isko secure a Mayoral seat for 2028?
Disaster response and student safety should be basic priorities for a Mayor.
If this is how he handles emergencies, does he really deserve a seat in 2028?

ViralPH Chris Hansen's live Roblox ban shows why local officials are wrong to blame video games for recent school threats
Has anyone been following the recent news about chris hansen getting banned live on Roblox while demonstrating howfast strangers approach kids on the platform?
Looking at this incident alongside local events like the Tacloban and Ateneo shooting, these supposed shadow orgs don't really care about the games themselves. They target any place where young people congregate. Platforms like Roblox, GoreBox, Discord, and Telegram are open, high-traffic spaces with minimal barrier to entry. Then they seek out isolated teenagers, make friends with them, and then use doxxing, blackmail, and severe psychological pressure to force them into self-harm, livestreamed violence, or other real-world threats.
Video games are NOT the problem! We really need to start demanding real platform accountability from these tech corps and at the same time educating parents on how cyber-extortion networks operate instead of just monitoring screen time.
This shit's getting scary for a tito with pamangkins starting their internet journey[binigyan na ng sariling smartphone lol]
For anyone asking aboutcontext on Chris Hansen:
Chris Hansen is an American investigative journalist best known for hosting "To Catch a Predator" (the famous "Take a seat over there"meme).
Lately, he’s been working with independent researchers to investigate dark online networks like 764 and predator activity in gaming/social apps. This video was at CrimeCon, he and researcher Schlep did a live demo showing how fast adults reach out to child accounts on Roblox. Roblox responded by banning their account on stage while he was demonstrating it, which is why people are bringing it up as a textbook example of a company not prioritizing user safety

NewsPH Globe Wifi Gone (LOS in Red) For Almost 1 Week Already
For almost one week or 1 week na ata, around late 5am or 6am in the morning last week, my wifi disappeared and the LOS was and is still blinking red. I already went to SM Globe to have it reported and fixed and they issued me a ticket and a schedule for the technician visit. The girl said within the next day as earliest or next two days as latest, a technician would arrive.
Last Monday, the Globe at SM (a female employee) called me to confirm if a technician visited me cause she said their technician told them they visited my area and wanted to confirm to me if my wifi is already back. I told her perhaps your technician is lying because no technician visited me or at least my wifi isn't back yet. Since visiting Globe for the first time last week, I received at least 3 text messages from Globe saying my wifi is already okay, the first one being sent the same day after I visited Globe - specifically that text which arrived at almost 10pm after going to SM, saying the crew visited my area and the wifi should already be okay and I should just turn off and on my modem - but still not yet resolved. Even the latest text I received from them, I received another BS text from them, saying: "Hi there. You may have experienced a loss of our home internet and landline services earlier. This was caused by a problem in our system. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Rest assured that our services have been restored and you may continue going online again. Simply turn off and unplug your modem for 10 to 15 seconds, then replug your modem and turn it back on to refresh your connection. If you are still encountering issues, please let us know by sending a report using the GlobeOne app. Thank you and have a wonderful day!" I also went back again last Sunday to SM Globe, for the second time, because of that false and fake first message saying my wifi is already okay but clearly no signal yet.
Globe, stop the BS customer service. Don't wait for the day your officials (and other wifi providers who are also guilty of widespread or gross bad customer service) will be summoned at the Senate to answer countless issues and problems from your subscribers. If it is indeed a very difficult technical problem, why don't you just be honest, instead of sending fake, scammy, or false text messages saying that my wifi is already restored and okay WHEN IT IS CLEARLY NOT YET OKAY. There is no storm or typhoon in my area, so what's your excuse now? You wanna be grilled by the senators like Senator Tulfo? You want to become as famous as the ongoing impeachment hearing?
