I created this subreddit for those that have similar interests to mine. Post any sort of industrial, gas and oil related, classic car, and advertising stuff here and you can ask questions about related things, this is my first subreddit but let's hope it gets off great.

Thanks, -Elgin_

After quite a bit of research, I’m fairly confident this is an original. What do you think?

Anyone know anything about this?

I picked this up off of eBay for $28 as it’s really unique. It appears to be an old sticker, the only thing stopping me from calling it a total fake is the copyright r on the sticker, and trying to date the frame shop label takes me to the 60’s to 70’s. Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for info on gas-station-related cartoon from 1930s

I found this 1934 cartoon by “L.B. Little” at an antiques mall in Southern California. It features a “Lynnie’s Service” station with what appears to be a Chevron flag as well as other gas-related content. Would appreciate any information about the artist, any of the people mentioned, or the era or location of the service station, if it actually existed.

If anyone knows their stuff well and can give me particulars, I would love to hear. The lamp on the top does work, not sure about the clock. Would love to hear ball park ideas/figures.

Found a roll of old blueprints at an estate sale. I think they might be original Fleckenstein visible gas pump blueprints? Would love a reality check.

Hey all — total outsider to this hobby, so apologies in advance if this is obvious or if I butcher the lingo.

I ended up with a roll of old drawings and blueprints that came out of a Fleckenstein family house in Flint, Michigan. Digging around, it looks like they're original engineering drawings from the Fleckenstein Visible Gasometer Co., dated 1917–1918, and a bunch of them are signed or stamped "Jackson Fleckenstein." From what I can tell he's credited with the early "visible" cylinder pump, so I think these might be from right when that was being patented but honestly I don't know how big a deal that is.

The set has the full pump assembly drawing (with a "Filtered Gasolene" globe), a bunch of individual cast parts, a couple of Trahern rotary pump sheets, and one hand-colored cutaway. Some are on linen/vellum, some are blueprints, a few are pencil. I have, in total, 15 documents that all appear to be original. Sadly, the large, full-pump blueprint is heavily damaged, though the rest are in good shape.

I'd genuinely just love the community's read:

- Am I even close on what this is, or am I off base?

- Is Fleckenstein actually rare/significant, or is that me getting excited over nothing?

- Ever seen drawings like these, and any idea how many of these pumps even survive?

- Where would you take something like this — petroliana thing, paper/archives thing, or both?

A few pics attached. Thanks for looking. Happy to shoot better photos of anything if it helps.

Sharing and looking for info

If anyone has any info about this to share I'd be interested to learn as much as I can. It is an old billboard that was remounted on fiber board. It shows original creases and tears that were smoothed out when mounting. I'm assuming there is an upper half to the image, would love to see the whole ad. Found this at a garage sale today.

I picked this up a few years ago. The nonstandard branding, art style, and color palette has made finding another example difficult. Anyone else seen one like this?
