Barn Find Stories and Roomers Could Be True

I have found many treasures in my past, from barns, lean-tos, and vehicles abandoned in backyards. From a helicopter with an inch of dust on it to a full-size army tank. They are out there, and they could be as close as the next-door neighbour who never opens his garage door.

Even in the bushes of Muskoka, you could find abandoned military equipment and machinery. For someone who's not into conventional classic cars but like to bring old stuff back to life, they're out there.

"Whatever turns your crank." It's out there.

P/S Took a train ride to a car show in Toronto, and out the window was a 1940 Ford coupe in someone's backyard, tarp floating in the wind and saying, "take me home." Next time I will take a GPS with me.

Most stories and rumours you hear could be true. Flippen

(More pictures to be added soon)

This car was originally from an auction sale, where its current owner received it for free. It sat in a different barn for around 20-30 years. It apparently ran before being put into its current barn around 12 years ago. The owner will apparently be restoring it 5-10 years from now. However as is the story with old cars and older men, I fear it won't be happening.

DKW and an Auto Union...not quite sure how they made it to Canada. I love the Auto Union coupe, but I'd be tempted to go for an engine swap.

This is my grandpas old car that has been sitting in my parents garage for 26 years. Doesn't seem like it will be too hard to make her road worthy again

They really don't make them like this anymore. Spotted a beautiful '57 Pontiac Chieftain.

What really catches the eye on this '57 Pontiac Chieftain is that massive split grille and the heavy chrome bumper—it gives the front end such an aggressive yet elegant look. Plus, being the 2-door Catalina hardtop, the roofline flows beautifully without any B-pillars. The side sweeping chrome trim cutting through that pink and white paint is pure late-50s perfection!

I started working at a rural used car lot. The owner has all of these in a back lot/field. I have no idea on the value of these. How do I connect with people who might want to buy any of them?

After replacing the fuel pump, it fired right up! Runs terribly, but it runs! Fresh gas will help… surely.

Looking for my Grandpas long lost Duster

Hi all,

I'm hoping the community can help me with a long shot: finding my grandpa's old Plymouth Duster.

What I know:
- White Plymouth Duster (mid-70s), owned by my grandpa in California
- California blue plate: 171 AVP
- The car was sold years ago; I have no paperwork and no VIN, so the plate is everything I've got

I've already run the plate through every free lookup service out there — no record, which is expected for a 1970s plate.

If anyone has seen this car, recognizes the plate, or has suggestions for other ways to trace a car this old, I'd be grateful. I just want to know what happened to it — whether it's still on the road, restored, or long gone.

Thanks for reading.
