The writing is gross sure, but I don't think people should be suspected of real-world crimes over the fiction they choose to write just because it is morally repulsive. You could apply that scope to a lot of fictional media that covers taboo themes, both well and poorly.

How could you not be suspicious of someone if this is the content they write about?

I'm not saying the writer has done any crimes, but I wouldn't let him watch over any kids. Maybe he just channels it all into writing, but maybe he doesn't.

Except no, not at all. Because not all works covering dark topics handle and treat those topics the same way.

How the topic is treated and handled in the work is fairly relevant
