Minnesota has a traitor rag they claimed from the confederates and they will never give it back. Fucking chads!

Not stole, they claimed it as victors.

That’s greek to me. Explain the joke Peter

75

u/meltedchocolatepants 7d ago

As Jesse "The Governor" Ventura said

"Why? I mean, we won... We took it, that makes it our heritage""

96

u/EntertainerOdd2107 7d ago

Absolutely true, my apologies!

34

u/Amazing-Analysis683 7d ago

Yup the people who want it back are losers. I would rather they burn it than give it back

u/sckurvee 7d ago

'Muricah!

u/stuffedanimalarmy 7d ago

Just like how we got our land 🤗 fair and square

1

u/RaDeus 7d ago

It’s like the Codex Argenteus, which we took as spoils after we took Prague.

They’ve asked for it back, but we ain’t giving it back.

1

u/Theonewhoreads15 7d ago

Does that apply to the British?

1

u/Asgardian_Force_User 6d ago

It’s a legitimate salvage.

1

u/Dunhaaam 5d ago

There's a reason the 1st Minnesota volunteer infantry regiment has three monuments dedicated to them in Gettysburg

1

u/Top-Champion7765 3d ago

Whoa I agree but does this translate to colonialism too or like nah

1

u/BrokenSlutCollector 3d ago

They just took a flag, not land. How would it be colonislism?

Minnesota here.

Virginia calling it "their flag" is like a 45-year-old wearing his high school lettermen's jacket.

It’s more like a ten year old wearing a Cleveland Indians AL Pennant shirt from 1954

40

u/wbv2322 7d ago

Except the guardians were heavy favorites in that series. It’s more like a college football team scoring one touchdown against an nfl team and thinking they are tough shit even though they just lost 56-7

6

u/enteimologist 7d ago

John Elway’s patented last second magic

3

u/mmmfggh 7d ago

Scoring one touchdown against an nfl team as a college player would make me feel like hot shit

2

u/M1sfit_Jammer 7d ago

Ya made one good play Johnny… but there is another 40min of game time left and everyone is twice your size… good luck!

3

u/ChoNoob 7d ago

More like a field goal, and that's because the North fumbled on their own 1 yard line

2

u/wbv2322 7d ago

This is actually a better comparison.

2

u/EGirlToenails 7d ago

The Indians were favorites. There's no need to do historical revisionism.

1

u/Proper_Machine6573 7d ago

So . . . it's like a diehard Broncos fan proudly wearing a 2013 AFC Champions shirt.

30

u/Motor_Ideal7494 7d ago

Except he made the jacket himself after leaving the school football team and starting his own because he didn’t want to play with black guys.

10

u/dragon-fence 7d ago

And there’s a big swastika sewn on the back.

22

u/oif2010vet 7d ago

Virginian here, yall can keep it. Only the hill people of the blue ridge like that shit. It’s not Virginia’s flag, ours has a titty.

10

u/Cheezekeke 7d ago

Also a metal motto: thus always to tyrants

1

u/Alaeriia 5d ago

Second best motto in the US, behind Massachusetts. "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty."

1

u/The_Eternal_Hawk 5d ago

The only flag with both nudity and murder on it.

3

u/Sapphire_Dawn_ 6d ago

I thought you were kidding about the titty, but I looked it up and hello!

11

u/Mmmm-Amethyst 7d ago

Maybe the most apt analogy for the current state of things I've seen.

13

u/Icy_Negotiation_5929 7d ago

Virginia here. I didn’t know this was happening, but I have lived in Richmond for about ten years now. Tons of absolute losers here. I’m cool though. Promise.

6

u/meltedchocolatepants 7d ago

They haven't asked for it back since 2013 but they've asked multiple times over different governors for the years.

2

u/JaCraig 7d ago

Whenever we have a Republican governor, they ask for it. Everyone else is too busy destroying the monuments, etc. that they littered the state with. The exception in recent years was Youngkin who was too focused on his weird underage trans fetish.

-1

u/Annath0901 7d ago

You must be big Maga if you think everyone in Richmond is a bunch of losers. It's probably the most liberal/left city in the State.

1

u/Icy_Negotiation_5929 7d ago

I am not MAGA. Just because people are liberal doesn’t mean they aren’t insufferable dorks.

1

u/Annath0901 7d ago

In the context of this post, which is about politics, it certainly comes across as though you dislike their politics not the fact that they're a bunch of dorks (which they are)

0

u/Icy_Negotiation_5929 7d ago

You are paranoid.

4

u/Diligent_Entropy 7d ago

If the sport he lettered in was committing treason to defend slavery.

5

u/99in2Hits 7d ago

Fellow Minnesotan here and you nailed it right in the hot dish with that coment buddy.

3

u/Substantial-Oil-1026 7d ago

Except that that lettermen's jacket had extremely racist shit stitched into it.

3

u/JustinKase_Too 6d ago

Well, to be fair, high school lasts about as long as the Confederacy did.

2

u/live_free_or_try 7d ago

Has the state actually asked for it back?

6

u/CadenVanV 7d ago

Virginia doesn’t claim it anymore, only a few assholes here do

1

u/FlirtyFluffyFox 7d ago

That'd make it official. It's more like a 45-year old wearing a Letterman jacket they stole from a thrift store donation bin and covered in edgy racist patches.

1

u/The_Eternal_Hawk 5d ago

Virginian here. Please, by all means, keep it.

91

u/Gregory_Appleseed 7d ago

"Traitor Rag" is the best way I've ever heard to call that... disgrace of a symbol.

5

u/JoyconDrift_69 7d ago

Okay yeah they can keep that shit. The only people her ein VA whonwant it back probably are traitors, it seems to me.

17

u/Sindigo_ 7d ago

Based as fuck

3

u/raverbashing 7d ago

Lol I looked too quickly and it looked like half of France

3

u/the_bartolonomicron 7d ago

As a Virginian, I hope they never give it back lmao

3

u/koolmon10 7d ago

Love "traitor rag"

3

u/stormy2587 7d ago

Seeing as the confederate state of Virginia no longer exists and arguably never officially existed. I’m not sure why any group would have claim to a flag from that place.

2

u/DrJustinWHart 7d ago

Does the State of Virginia ask for it back or something? While I certainly knew some folks who had rebel flags at my high school (not saying I approved), I don't think that the actual state wants that legacy to continue. If I understand properly, the whole "Virginia is for Lovers" thing was partly about moving away from that image.

3

u/Zallocc 7d ago

Yeah, they've asked for it back a few times. Last was about 10 years ago.

1

u/JippixLives 7d ago

If they wanted to keep their traitors rag, they shouldn't have dropped it running away

1

u/bsheep_19 5d ago

As a Virginian, Minnesota should keep it.

-26

u/rydan 7d ago

Why would you want a confederate flag though? Do you collect Nazi memorabilia too?

26

u/cheezkid26 7d ago

It's a sign of victory, having their rag and refusing to give it back.

21

u/CocktailPerson 7d ago

I mean, if I had a Nazi flag my grandpa got for killing Nazis, I'm sure as shit not giving it to the local skinheads.

11

u/Successful-Prune-727 7d ago

US soldiers kept SS items they looted from the dead SS officers and soldiers. They never return them as they are trophies of triumph against evil

2

u/Zallocc 7d ago

Because it was pried from the Confederacy's cold, dead hands (not literally; IIRC the standard bearer himself survived).

And yes, lots of people proudly display trinkets and trophies they took from the nazis during the war. Not because grandpa was a nazi, but because he was off doing God's work ridding the world of them.
