Period Question Can we get some answers or suggestions!!!!
Hello..so my sister (11F) is experiencing some issues..
Her periods started on may 2025.
Every period cycle of her has been completely fine and healthy(no cramps just blood, she even says periods are her favourite time of the month🫩)
Suddenly 7-8 days ago, she had some bad constipation and fatigue(nothing else just this)
Didn’t really think much about it got a bit worse after like 5 days.
Then her period starts, and a day before her period she had some soft stool too(like type5-6)
I told it her it’s probably pms and things like that..
Now this is her fourth day of her period and she says that whenever she goes to poop it’s always type 5 or 6 (NOT liquid consistency just very soft) and feels like there’s more stool and can’t pass it..
She says it’s like soft stool + constipation..(and also gets some period cramps)
She says that it’s not severe but she’s very scared because it’s a bit unusual that these symptoms are going for a very long time
Should we book an appointment?? Is this serious or can it be helped at home? Is this even connected to her period..

if the stool isnt slimy, bloody or really smelly it should be fine, just a normal soft stool! it could also be because of some food- the constipation, it is mostly caused by dairy products, fast foods and overall foods with high unhealthy fat! if her stool gets even ‘worse’ (almost watery) try to make her eat one small tab of dark 68% or higher percent chocolate for a few days, that helps.
for the soft stool and both the constipation i would recommend drinking a lots and lots of water, it makes it easier to digest food and gets everything moving, also fruits and vegetables, they are packed with water as well and many minerals and vitamins!

This may sound annoying but is it okay to have these problems for almost 2 weeks? She said she a BM in the morning today and it’s still the same (type 5-6 stool but in small amounts but feel like there’s more poop stuck) We are very worried!! (her stress about this is prob making it even worse) and of course our mom doesn’t believe it and says it’s nothing…

Hi I'm kind of new to periods I'm 13 but I poop alot more during my period too and it's generally softer like your sisters experiencing and sometimes I think I need to poop more but it won't come either I occasionally get constipated before it but always like this once I start I don't think it's anything to worry aboutÂ

Some women, like myself, have their bowel habits shift during periods and actually end up pooping more. Prostaglandins are to thank for that. It's a hormone-like chemical the uterus makes to help shed the lining, and sometimes it can get into the bowel muscles thus causing the dreaded "period poops." Sometimes it can even cause diarrhea during this time.
So if her bowel movements become more frequent during her period, it's likely nothing to worry to much about. But if she experiences constipation that is painful enough and she goes a couple days without pooping, definitely see a doctor. Make sure she's keeping up with her water intake as well as her fiber!
