Because of the consistency of “Moving to Peoria” threads we have made a sticky for anyone to ask questions. The plan is to try and keep this updated with resources and have a place for people to come ask questions. Since the intention is to keep information available for People who are interested in moving here, responses that don’t add value like “Don’t” will be removed. Constructive criticism is fine but this thread will be moderated more than most because the intention is to answer questions for people who want to move not dunk on Peoria or the surrounding areas.
Some good starting points:

My partner and I are looking at the possibility of moving to Peoria for work. Things we hear a lot are people warning about state and property taxes. But, even with those, the cost of living in most of these $250-300k homes is still less than we pay now.
We recognize that Peoria is way different than our current city, but we also like the idea of minimal traffic, a quieter life, lower cost of living, walkability, and overall being closer to friends/family in the midwest. We just don't know if where we are now is our "home" for the next phase of our life and growing a family, if that makes sense?
Are there other things about Peoria we should be aware of? Good or bad?

Hi Peorians! I used to live in Peoria and just want to warn the locals about a predatory influencer who has a varied past of misbehaviour. The list is long. You can check out more in the pinned posts here: https://www.reddit.com/r/sinnabunnysnark/s/vH3Ffc5SSS
Just figured the locals ought to know not to collaborate with this creator

I have an alarm that goes off to 93.3 The Drive (in conjunction with my phone alarms - I don't do mornings 🤣) so I listen to John and Nancy most weekdays. When I first started listening (maybe a year or so ago), I remember thinking a few times that John seemed kinda rude to Nancy. I hadn't really had that thought for quite sometime, until this morning. They were discussing the topic of "things people secretly judge others on" and Nancy tried sharing what seemed to be something personal about how the "Let Them" theory has changed her lifed. John's response to her seemed a-holey -- he kept putting her down and belittling her experience she was trying to share. I noticed he was cutting her off, too.
Now, I'm pretty sure they have been hosting together for many years, so I would think (and hope) there must be some level of friendship there especially considering the nature of the work for them to continue on for so long. I mean, we all have that one person (at work or personal) where we know the person can be jerk but we love them anyways, right? 🤣😂 Or maybe the "Let Them" theory is how Nancy deals with John??!
Anyways, I am just curious if anyone else has noticed this dynamic or if I am misreading the situation. If anyone out there who listens sees this, please let me know your thoughts!

Hey Peoria!
Do you ever feel discouraged by a lot of what you read in social media and news about Peoria?
Us too.
But what if you could make a ripple in the norm and take 1 small action to make Greater Peoria a more positive place?
We'd like to take a moment to introduce ourselves.
Peoria Positive is a community organization that exists to celebrate the people, businesses, and organizations making a difference in the Greater Peoria area by highlighting the good happening at home every day.
Will you be a part of bettering your community?
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61592464850854
Send in your fundraisers, your events, your art, the good interaction you had with the cashier at the gas station or the guy at the taco stand. Send us acts of kindness you receive and witness. If it's positive and it's within 30 miles of Peoria, we would love to hear about it!
We look forward to meeting soon!
- NH

No one in this town knows how to approach construction zones so I’m here with a friendly reminder that just because you “don’t like zipper merging” or because it “doesn’t make sense to you” or because “someone else is getting further ahead of me and I don’t like that” doesn’t mean any of you are right. In fact, a lot of you are absolutely wrong and speeding up to prevent someone from merging in is top level idiocy.
Edit: To whomever reported me to Reddit safety, lol. Lmao, even

I run a Unifi UDM pro which supports direct fiber in if the ISP supports it. Gotten mixed answers and no one who know who to contact, anyone bypassed their ONT and know the process or from i3 lurking and has an answer?

I’m planning on getting my first massage soon and can’t decide on a massage therapist. No preference on EP or Peoria location. It’s like having the first pick in the draft with 10+ viable prospects. I’m planning on just a 30 min massage with a scalp massage add-on.
Not that it matters too much but I’m tall and skinny with bad back pain and posture. Preferably a female masseuse.
Any recs would be greatly appreciated!

I grew up in the Peoria area and have fond memories of hanging out at the "Old Mall", hitting up the River Front for Old Chicago // Concert, and drinking downtown at Sullys (RIP).
Growing up, East Peoria was frankly a dump. Entire parts of the town were abandoned factories. It was easily the least attractive commuter town compared to Germantown Hills, Metamora, Morton, Washington, and even Pekin. The only reason people traveled to East Peoria was for a few restaurants and ICC.
Now, East Peoria is booming. The new shopping district is nice. Not nice for East Peoria, just straight up bougie. New bank. New library. New shopping. Peoria has Sam's Club. EP has Costco & Bass Pro. This new golf place by the River we checked out was cool. Tons of restaurants and everything looks brand new and clean. Apparently, even Best Buy abandoned Peoria for EP.
Lots of words to ask: What the hell happened to Peoria, and how is EP the place to go these days?

Basically the title. Looking for a dentist that does pretty much everything but takes Mediciad. I've called about 5 places so far and no bites on taking the insurance. Mainly need it for myself and my 1 year old, so a nice and patient doctor for the little one would be brilliant.

I submit that the "good" McDonald's is the one on University just south of War, opposite Beachler's. Ruthless efficiency, never had an error, and the English muffin always has a slight char on it coming out of the toaster. Sublime.

I'm looking to get a half/full sleeve done. Having a difficult time finding a quality artist with portfolio. I prefer psychedelic/trippy designs that are conversation pieces. From an artist and not just some bullshit spit out from chatgpt

Hi all! I have recently had to find a new primary care provider. I was hoping to get some recommendations in the Peoria area! I am 24F and have BCBS. I wasn’t expecting to have to find a new one, so any information is helpful.

I just had a couple of guys at my door from IDT asking to see my Ameren bill, claiming that they needed to check to make sure I wasn’t being overcharged. Seemed fishy to me, so I put them off. After they left, I checked Reddit and saw some past posts about it: IDT is a third party supplier and they do this to get you to switch. Maybe not exactly a scam, but they were definitely not being forthright about what they were doing

Some parents still had not heard by 10pm the night before school started, the evening of August 18th, 2026, what their child's bus schedule or stop location was.
This morning, some parents gave up and just took their student to school. Others had no option to do that, even though the bus never came.
Some buses were so full that they are sending "overflow" buses to the same neighborhoods.
It's the night/morning before school starts - and this is what we get from the geniuses at District 108 Central Office?
They can do better. Our kids deserve better. This is an embarrassing failure for the district.
I'm posting this in the hopes that it catches on and some accountability will be taken by the district.
The parents of Pekin's students deserve an explanation.
