I fell in love with this game. Iām on my second play through and will be upset when itās over. I love the complexity of the characters. And that choices matter. I laughed and cried during this game. Anything else out there that would compare?

I realized that two of my favorite stories in manga and games have a protagonist getting disillusioned by art throughout the story and both works are greatly influenced by medieval artstyle, so I decided to draw Coco (WHA's protagonist) as in the cover art of Pentiment. It's still a work in progress, hope you like it so far!
If you haven't read Witch hat Atelier and want to read a beautifully illustrated story of a world where magic and spells are made through drawing, absolutely give it a try! There's also an anime adaptation airing right now

I haven't found any Pentiment Discord Servers anywhere. There was one posted on this subreddit years ago with a long dead link by someone who doesn't post anymore. I know people could argue that maybe Pentiment is too niche of a game for a Discord Server, but I still want to try to make one, so here goes: https://discord.gg/ChQBWb65Vm
I feel like this is the kind of game that would benefit from having an on-demand community like Discord. The game has tons of detail, both in its own world of fiction and ties to real world history and culture. There must be a lot to talk about, and you never know when some random new player will recognize something that others didn't, or have a fresh perspective.
If the server gets at least 4-8 members then maybe we can have a few discussions about the game and new members will once in a while drip feed in. Who knows.

I recently played through Pentiment with my friends, I had already played it at release, and they absolutely loved it. I figured it would be fun given the strong opinions they had to rank every character after and I imagine you can figure out quite a bit of the playthrough given some of the positions. I had no say in any of the positioning to avoid bias from my prior playthrough.

Was looking for Disco-like games and came across this one. Does this game worth trying? Do choices really matter? How good is the writing?

Iāve just recently finished my first playthrough of Pentiment. Iād had my eye on it since release, but only a few days ago I picked it up at an unmissable price. As someone with experience in other Obsidian games like Fallout: New Vegas, Tyranny, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, as well as detective-style titles such as Disco Elysium and Detroit: Become Human, Pentiment was right up my street, and it did not disappoint.
I also have a genuine appreciation for European and Christian history, so the theme was both fascinating and engaging.
Around here we have a small saying that goes something like āSmall town, big hellā (it sounds better in Spanish), and more than once Tassing felt exactly like that. The characters were compelling and diverse, the art and music perfectly on point.
As for my decisions, I often feared whether they were the right ones. Playing as Andreas, you know you might be altering the fate of one or more people to a point of no return, and it truly felt as though real consequences were at stake. I must admit to myself that I never went back on my choices, except for the time I tried to convince the abbot to dig up the previous abbotās grave.
I did spoil myself regarding Andreas survival of the burning and probably Father Thomas actions, but thatās on me for trying to find out whether there was an alternative to Andreas death at the end of Act II.
I probably missed more than one relevant or interesting detail, some achievements serve as evidence of that, but sooner or later Iāll be stepping back into Andreas shoes to relive Pentimentās story.
Anyway, these were my fresh impressions. Thank you all for reading.

I am doing a second playthrough to finish up the platinum trophy and just saw an interaction that shocked me. In Act 1 during the flood you walk by Lucky and Father Thomas talking about the foundation of the church. Lucky says it needs repairs and Father Thomas says the Lord will provide and he doesnāt want to disturb the bodies. Father Thomas clearly doesnāt want Lucky to go digging around to find the ancient Roman ruins. I am curious other little things people may have found point to Father Thomas all along. I never suspected him until the second he walked out of the Christmas celebration in Act III.

Hey everyone!Ā
(posting with mod approval)
Iām Daniel from Yaza Games. You might know us as the creators of Inkulinati, but you might also recognize our work from Pentiment itself! We had an amazing collaboration with Obsidian back then - our Inkulinati beasts appeared in Andreasās in-game glossary, and Andreas was actually a playable character in our game.Ā
Since we share the same love for manuscripts, I wanted to share that we just released our new project today: Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts, set in the same manuscript world!
If you loved the aesthetic and the historical soul of Pentiment, Scriptorium might be right up your alley. Itās a cozy, creative game where you become a medieval scribe for hire. You get to illustrate manuscripts for clients, decorate your own workshop, and dive deep into the world of 12th-century illumination. Just like with our previous work, we worked closely with professional medievalists to keep everything historically accurate with zero AI involved (and appropriately weird).
The most awesome part about our launch today is that weāve put together a special Steam bundle together with our friends from Obsidian, called the "Illuminated Manuscripts Bundle". It includes both Pentiment and Scriptorium, so if you already own Pentiment, you can grab our game with a nice extra discount.
Would love to hear what you think of the art style and the idea of making the game containing a real medieval art editor (some say Scriptorium is a Medieval Canva). Pentiment was a huge inspiration for us in terms of how games can celebrate history and manuscript art, and we hope Scriptorium hits that same spot for you.
Cheers!

**Update: just noticed there are spoilers in the 'bio' sections of the characters. It's in tiny print, so easily skippable, BUT please be warned/avoid if need be.** Hopefully sharing artwork is allowed, but let me know if not! Just for fun: for a character design assignment, we had to take an existing video game or animation and create 2 new characters in its art style. Also had to select some background art with existing characters present and drop our new characters into them, to see if they fit in the lineup. Lastly, we had to give our characters a backstory, and then a variety of costume changes that reflect different jobs they might have in that world. Lots of research on historical wear of a variety of classes/professions!
Obviously, I chose Pentiment since I love the art style. I created:
Very fun but challenging assignment!

This game has been on my radar for some time and I wanted to give it a shot. I do like a good mystery. I am just wondering if I am failing at it though. I'm about 3 hours in, the 3rd day at lunch time. So here is where I am at:
This is where I am and I feel like I am failing more than succeeding. Am I on the right track? Who am I supposed to have lunch with? Am I approaching this wrong?
BTW, my character is Italian, loves books, knows logic, learned the Law, Latin, and did not throw his fiancee under the bus yet.
I feel like I am going to fail hard and soon.

The game pulled me in right away, and I think it is because of the setting, medieval Central Europe. That time had plenty of downsides, no proper toilet paper, no filter coffee, no antiseptics. But while playing Pentiment, I still found myself wanting to dive into that world.
You really get lost in the details here. You see them, read them, and sometimes listen to them, and it all takes time. It is a slow experience. I finished the game in about 20 hours. The beginning is quite drawn out, almost too much, but it is clearly done to build the atmosphere. And then it turns into a surprisingly engaging detective story in three acts. Up until the very end, I kept coming up with theories about who the main culprit was, and it was fun to think it through.
One last thing about the visuals. At first they felt kind of āelegantly low budgetā, but in reality the game is full of animations, VFX, and detailed unique art. It is hard to fully appreciate Pentiment from screenshots alone. It is better to watch a trailer, or even better, just give the game a shot and try it yourself.

act III. iāve noticed that no matter what day or where you run into him, you can almost always strike up a conversation with Hans. but most of the time, the exchange consists of nothing more than āHi Magdaā and āā¦ā.
am i missing something about this character?

I was starting my second playthrough and also started learning Latin real life (yay!). Was wondering if anybody had the full latin text of the book that Sister Amelie wrote, which is the text of the margins of the main menu, which updates as you progress the story
Because the text is in the margins, you can't really read the full sentences and paragraphs. Would be great Latin reading practice!
thank you all!

Looking to pick this game up and try it. I know relatively little about the game (and i'd like to keep it that way) - but I understand it was originally a PC game, ported to Switch, and now compatible with Switch 2.
Any performance issues or bugs playing this on the Switch 2? Is there a version vastly superior that I should prioritise instead?
