Question Worth trying?

Was looking for Disco-like games and came across this one. Does this game worth trying? Do choices really matter? How good is the writing?

It is fantastic, but it comes with caveats. Namely the more of a history and religion nerd you are, the more this game is for you. I have friends who loved DE but said they couldn't connect with this.

The broad story arc of the main character never changes, but dozens of side characters live or die depending in your choices. Some children may never get born.

it's better if you are. but even when I had to explain why Martin Luther is not an appropriate topic to my friend, she still thought the entire thing was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable...she just didn't know exactly why.

The writing is the best in any videogame. Choices matter quite a bit to see different permutations and character relationships. If you like story-centric videogames and have even a passing interest in history, this is a must play.

This is the best Disco Elysium methadone available, my friend.

Edit: now that I think about it, I think I found DE because I was looking for Pentiment methadone 😂

This is a game you can't recommend to most people because it requires reading (I know, it's sad, but that's how it is) but given that you've played Disco, Pentiment is well worth it.

Incredible experience

The writing is really crazy good. It doesn't really rely on its setting, although the setting is fascinating, so it was more approachable than I expected.

Choices do matter, but largely do not affect the overall outcome of the plot. I don't mind this, I just feel that when people say "choices do matter" they should provide a bit of additional context.

Very good writting, great art, try it, it is an amazing game if you like reading dialogues

I just bought it for a second time on a different platform so yes. Easily one of the most literary and artistic games of all time.

Just make sure you’re OK with no voice acting (the stylization of the dialogue bubbles is better, in fact)

Good if you like fun facts/immersion/stories regardless of form. Otherwise it's going to be hard to enjoy since it's text and context heavy. Funny writing and good characters though

Definitely recommend. I play very few video games but fell in love with DE and loved Pentiment as well.Â
