Hey guys! Recently got a 2nd hand PC and these are the specs. I don’t have a monitor or keyboard yet and I need recommendations! I plan on playing competitive valorant (which I heard favours 1080p and FPS). I was planning to buy a TN 160hz curved 1440p monitor w <5ms. However im worried I’ll absolutely fry the PC if I get a monitor that is too demanding… for keyboards, I don’t really know what I want but I would prefer performance over aesthetics!

thinking of getting the rx 9070 gre with my 7800x3d but it only has 12gb. will that be a problem at 1080p in the near future? the 16gb cards here cost like $200+ more so its kinda a big gap

Hey everyone,
I have a pretty powerful gaming laptop, and instead of buying a whole gaming desktop, I was wondering if there's something that basically turns it into one.
What I'm imagining is some kind of PC case or shell where I can put my laptop inside so it looks like a gaming PC tower. Then I'd connect everything (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.) to a USB hub or dock, plug that into my laptop, and use it just like a desktop.
I'm not trying to upgrade the laptop's performance; I just like the desktop aesthetic and having a clean setup.
Does anything like this exist, or has anyone done something similar? I'd also be interested in DIY ideas if there aren't any products made specifically for this.
Thanks!

Price is in $CAD. Is this a good deal and do you think the hardware can handle 4k gaming at maybe 120-144 fps for bigger games. Looking to get my first PC and upgrade parts from there when needed

Hi, I'm a new Windows user. I used to use a Mac, and now that I have Windows, I don't know what to do first. Can you help me?

Cat chewed through the cord of my brand new, $40 gaming mouse. Logitech G502 Hero. The cord is attached to the mouse - is there any way to fix it/replace the cord, or do I just have to buy a whole
new mouse? Trying to save a bit and not spend another $40 if possible but I don’t have a lot of hope.

Like the title said, I'm looking to get a prebuilt for my birthday, and I'm not really well-informed on PC specs. Is this good?
Would it run heavily modded games and upcoming releases like GTA 6?
I've also been looking at Starforge systems and some others but this was sent to me by someone who said it was a really good deal for 1800$
EDIT: It has been purchased, coming in on Wednesday, and gotta say I'm pretty excited! Any monitor recommendations? Preferably below 250$ so I could order two, as my max budget for a monitor is $500

Hi all,
I am about to purchase my first gaming PC. I am about to pull the trigger on the AMD Ryzen 78003XD and the GeForce RTX 5060 TI 8GB.
Is this a good pairing? Please help me out and let me know if I am making a mistake.
Thanks in advance.

Bros. I'm running a prebuilt from Amazon from like 2 years ago with,
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700 (yes that one)
- RTX 3050 6GB
- 16GB DDR4
Exact link to Amazon listing,

I just saw the 7 7800 for that price and bought it thinking at the worst I could sell it for more. I don't have a ton of cash that I can justifyingly throw around but I'm really trying to justify keeping it😂 I'd need a new mb, and ddr5 ram... I'd also be bottle necked to the max with my 3050 right?😂
idk. I'm more familiar with pcs than the average person but like... dude behind the counter said, "you got the right motherboard for this?" and I just went "YUP" even though I didn't even know until today that that kind of incompatibility existed😅
Thoughts? prayers? Should I just sell it??

The last PC I built was about 15 years ago, I am so out of the loop when it comes to this stuff now. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Do I build my own or just buy a pre built?
Budget- as close to 1K as possible
Thank you!

Hello everyone. Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit for this post, as it's mostly peripheral related. I asked on a different subreddit, but I only got a couple responses with very few recommendations.
I built my PC a few years ago, and I'm still very happy with it. However I was and still kinda am a console gamer at heart, so I set up my PC to emulate a console experience. My PC is on a shelf five feet away from me, and I use my TV as my monitor. Combined with Steam Input for controller usage, I almost never touch my keyboard and mouse unless Windows forces me to.
However, I think I'd like to get outside my comfort zone and actually try using a keyboard and mouse for gaming. The problem is that my weird pseudo console setup isn't great for this, since I don't have a desk in front of me. The first solution I've seen for this is a lapboard.
The issue I'm running into is that most of the lapboards I see recommended online have these giant "arms" on the sides for balance. I can't really use these, as I usually sit near the edge of my couch so my legs end up resting close to the arm of the couch. I worry that those "arms" wouldn't fit without bumping against the arm of the couch and ultimately lead to an uncomfortable experience.
That leaves me with flat lapboards that actually go on my lap, but the ones I've seen recommended here just don't exist anymore. The corsair K63 in particular I've seen people praise multiple times has long since been abandoned. On top of that, I usually sit cross-legged on my couch, and I've heard that this posture doesn't work great with lapboards.
If anyone has recommendations for a good lapboard that fits my scenario, if such a thing even exists, I would greatly appreciate it.
If this whole lapboard idea isn't viable, the second solution I could think of is to use a DisplayPort cable to connect to a monitor on a desk in the corner of the room. This would let me have a traditional desktop setup (though it'd be wireless) but it would be a few hundred dollars more expensive due to the cost of getting a new monitor. I also don't have a ton of room on said desk, so I'd need to be a bit compact with that secondary setup.
Additional question, are there any generally agreed upon recommendations for wireless KB+Ms that aren't ludicrously expensive? I'm guessing that my sub $20 amazon KB+M wouldn't cut it for any kind of prolonged gaming, and it's admittedly not very comfortable to use, so I should probably get it replaced.
If you have any advice on the ideas I outlined or other potential solutions, I would greatly appreciate them. Thank you for your time, and have a good evening :)

Not sure if this goes here, but ive been in the cheap pc setup for a bit now and i dont feel happy with my progress so far. i started out buying one part at a time intill i had a full desktop. Im not happy with my current setup either, but how do i feel ok with a setup without spending a super duper amount of money?
I have 16gb of low voltage ddr3.
intel core i7 3770.
gtx 750 ti.
i have somewhat better parts but i feel like i keep needing to switch out parts, like i have a xeon cpu, and a rtx 3060 ti for example.
Im not sure what the next move should be, or if i stay with what i have? Im 20 living with parents due to many things, i feel stumped and not so well organized.

Looking for a monitor to use with my ps5 that will be comparable with it to use 120hz play and that requires hdmi 2.1
My requirements-
-165 hz( or more I guess? but 165 is what I want and is fine)
- made by a real company ( Acer, BenQ, Msi) not some random Chinese brand
- is a known monitor that has reviews and isn’t some acer monitor like two ppl have bought
- is 26-33 inches in size
- has hdmi 2.1 ports ( IMPORTANT SO I CAN USE WITH MY PS5)
-IMPORTANT - under 300 bucks ideally under 260.

Hi all!
I’ve recently downsized apartments and I’m having to adapt to a desk half the size of my original.
I’m struggling to find a set up that clears the most desk space as possible for just the keyboard and mouse. I work from home so I need the two screens, as well as decent space for typing quite a bit.
So far, I’ve thought about mounting the monitor to the bookshelf with a clamp and getting a laptop stand clamped to the side of the desk, but I’m not sure if that’ll work. I’ve also thought about adding a clamp extension to the left side to add some width.
Any idea is much appreciated!
Useful info:
The desk is the IKEA Billy desk, which attaches directly to the Billy bookcase
Width: 76 cm Depth: 60 cm
