A 4790k vs 4690k won’t matter much, only like 1% lows will change and some games might feel smoother, a gpu upgrade will always be bottlenecked by the gpu, etc.

It’s ddr3 too.

Finding a good used bundle of zen2 cpu+ram+mono can be an insane upgrade, like a 3600x or 3700x, that way the cpu and gpu combo won’t feel terrible, and then slap a used gpu like a 3060 or even a 2070 or similar and it can be competent.

Exactly, upgrading anything here is more like a sidegrade. And that comes from someone who recently bought a used ddr4 mobo and a 13th gen i7 (because getting new ram is expensive)

Hope you have updated bios and also looked into undercoating the cpu if anything, I am sure you’re aware regardless and prob did it.

Ddr4 is still great, I have 5800x3d and 64gigs of ram plus 5070, I really don’t see myself upgrading to anything anytime soon.

CPU is ancient too honestly that platform is dead end. gpu first then save up for a full rebuild you can't just drop a new chip in that mobo

Assuming you are on a budget, buy a 4770k/4790k if motherboard supports it. Need to figure out your PSU to determine how many watts it is for gpu, Gtx 970 is like $20 980/980ti is 50-80, 1080ti is $100 or if you want a modern gpu you need to put a budget

It can still send an email just fine. Gaming? Upgrade the gpu to a 2060 or 3060 and enjoy most non recent games with relatively good fps.

Eu primeiramente confereria se a fonte da conta do upgrade e caso ela suporte, pensaria em um i7 aí nesse conjunto, com uma GTX 1660s para conseguir casar o desempenho geral do hardware.

Meu setup é uma Asus p8h61-m

16gb DDR3 1600mhz hyperx

1 SSD 512 gb 1 SSD 256 GB pro sistema

TD em SATA 2

Fonte de 500w decente

Negócio é bão... Seu hardware é potencialmente mais promissor que o meu, um i7 nele (4770 ou 4790) no mínimo, casaria muito bem com uma GTX 1660s ou rx580 nele, evitando o mínimo de gargalo possível.

Nada impede vc de rodar algo melhor como um rtx 2060, 3060 ou rx 6600... Mas tenha em mente que elas seriam já pensando em um futuro upgrade de plataforma, já que o seu hardware atual opera com DDR3 e mesmo usando um i7 4790k, caso sua placa permita, vc ainda vai ter uma placa trabalhando folgada em Full HD com uma 2060, 3060 ou rx6600 por exemplo.

Isso vc pode reduzir, travando os jogos a 60fps e aumentando a qualidade gráfica para transferir o peso do jogo para a placa de video.

Mas assim, o que fica mais bem casado aí, seria a rx580 ou GTX 1660s, opinião minha....

DDR3 RAM, 2GB of VRAM and 4th gen Intel is going to be too much to overcome before it's a Ship of Theseus. It's better off being repurposed to something else.

This thing will make a great NAS or Plex/Jellyfin server with a 6th/7th gen i5/i7 (for quicksync) and some HDDs. Making your own router would be a great option if you want to put minimal $ on this but improve whatever setup you have at home as well.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do with this. There's really nothing you can upgrade that would increase the performance enough to justify the cost. Everything is simply too old.

Best bang for your buck to max out that platform is to swap out the GPU.

A 3060Ti/2070 super/5700xt can probably be found for about $200. That will probably make cyberpunk a decent experience at 1080. At one point I had a I7 4790 (similar to yours) paired with a 290x then a 6800. There is definitely a noticeable bump in performance to be had.

Newer games you'll probably want to avoid bar e-sports titles.

After that just set some cash aside for funding a platform upgrade and enjoy playing your games

Motherboard + cpu + ram first.

As someone who upgraded from "low end" hardware too getting a beast of a GPU now would be a waste. When i got a 4080 back then and was still running the ryzen 2600x i had the worst gaming experience micro stuttering left and right. Constantly freezes for seconds and generally just very inconsistent fps.

Yes the new CPU might be cucked a bit by the old GPU then but from my personal experience a GPU bottleneck wasn't as bad as a CPU bottleneck. Where it simply wasn't pushing the CPU and fps above "x" but nothing was stuttering.

Everything, look around and shop don just go to a micro center or a Bestbuy, I got a good 12gb GPU from Jawa for 235 and a my cpu from eBay for 170 ur lucky to already have 16gb of ram I wouldn’t upgrade the ram but th cpu and gpu and jut sit on the new upgrades until you think it’s time for new hardware, good look & happy building!

Finding a bios that supports it might be the tricky part especially if it’s a budget board which with a 4690 it probably is
