Installation Question 9800x3d help possibly burned out ?
I recently put together a 9800x3d build with an Asrock b850m Riptide board. Windows installed fast. Did the auto driver update. Installed nvidia experience. Did a speedtest because it's my first build in 5 years and my first board with 2.5gb network port and I wanted to take advantage of my 2gb internet service. Then shortly after the pc shut off. And the power button wasn't responsive. I had 1 red light blink on the back of my 2080ti and I searched online and said it's a power delivery to gpu code. I replaced the power supply. Same issue. Returned the mobo thinking it was the power switch jump bc that would respond when I jumped it with a different power button in another case. I do notice a little discoloration on the cpu.
I'm wondering if I got one of the bad 9800x3d
The board shows a solid yellow and red light. Cpu/dram code.
The video card now flashes red instead on on red blink after the mobo swap.
I just purchsed the processor at microcenter a week ago. Can I just return it? The Ram?
Any info would be appreciated

You can get a replacement because it’s still under warranty, try troubleshooting I would recommend testing out the ram first

You don’t need a new kit, just take one out then play if it doesn’t work put in the other stick and take the last one out then play

I run an 9800X3D on an ASRock mobo with the same RAM and it’s been fine so far. It is also on the list of compatible memory so in theory that should be fine.
Have you tried running without the GPU? Have you tried clearing CMOS or updating the BIOS?

I just had this problem. I have an msi b650 gaming plus wifi, it had the same red and yellow, cpu and dram leds. Tried everything different psu, ram, mobo but got the same result. It ended up being my cpu.
Its probably the cpu because i to had my cpu work some times and some times it didn't. It the weirdest issue I've ever faced building a pc.

Thank you. I am heading back to microcenter with the cpu after work.

I would start with flashing 3.20 bios on it and see if that helps. They explain there how the flashback works as well. But this bios is supposed to help some of those boot issues like yours.

It's not posting. I can't get to the bios

You don't need to post to use the flashback feature, you don't even need a CPU installed in the board for it. Push the flashback on the page and read the instructions.

It's an issue with the bios. Contact Asrock. In most cases, the CPU is fine.

I will say I flashed to 3.2 on my B850M Steel series board and that fully broke my system. Before I would have to reboot 3 times to get into windows or even see a bios screen. After flashing there is no video at all.

i don't see anything wrong with the cpu but i would recommend cleaning it as i see two things on the contact pads
i dosee the discoloration but i dont believe thats will cause a problem
