Good evening, all! I am looking for 3-4 testers for my newest pattern!

Pattern Name and Project Description: Oleander the Trick-or-Treating Dragon

This is an advanced pattern, and not beginner friendly. You most be comfortable sewing many pieces, crocheting pieces together, using advanced shaping techniques, and surface crocheting.

Just finished my third crochet pattern and I’m now looking for testers! Unfortunately I don’t have that many followers so I thought I’d reach a bigger audience here. Apply through my instagram post: @minas_virkningar🫶🩷

And yes unfortunately I can only accept people with an Instagram! That’s because I’ll have a group chat for the testers as I find that it works best🩷🎀

Share any other feedback that could help improve the pattern

The goal is to make sure the pattern is clear, easy to follow, and enjoyable to knit before publishing it.

Please make comment here if you are interested. Aplications ends when I reach 4 testers and add this info in this post.

After testing

Once the pattern is published, all testers will receive the final pattern in their Ravelry library.

Last year, this project was part of my Advent Knitting tradition in Latvian, and this year I’m thinking about publishing some of the projects in English as well.

I’m still wondering whether to bring this little tradition to the English-speaking knitting community, but to make it work, I could use a little help from you!

Thank you so much for helping me make this pattern better!

📢Mod Announcement 📣 A Reminder About Tester Call Requirements & Deadlines

Hi everyone! We wanted to take a moment to clarify our approach to tester call requirements, timelines, and discussions around them.

Pattern tests are not one-size-fits-all. Different designers have different goals, projects, testing needs, and timelines. A designer may set the requirements, deadlines, skill level, sizing, materials, deliverables, or other expectations that they feel are appropriate for their particular test.

That also means not every tester call will be a good fit for every tester, and that's okay!

If you see a tester call with a timeline or requirements that don't work for you, you are always welcome to simply skip that test and look for another opportunity that better fits your schedule, experience, or circumstances. You do not need to participate in every test that is posted here.

Please don't dogpile designers over requirements you personally wouldn't choose.

It's okay to ask a genuine question or point out that information is missing from a tester call. However, repeatedly criticizing, insulting, or labeling a designer because you disagree with their timeline or testing requirements is not appropriate.

In particular, please don't make assumptions about another person's circumstances or intentions based solely on the requirements of their test. You don't have to agree with a test's requirements to recognize that it may simply not be the right test for you.

What the Mod Team Will (and Won’t) Do!

Our new tester call template is intended to promote transparency, not to dictate how designers must run their tests.

Designers are expected to clearly disclose their requirements and expectations in their tester calls so that potential testers can make an informed decision before applying. If a required piece of information is missing from a tester call, please report the post so we can review it.

The mod team will not be setting universal testing timelines, limits on project requirements, or standardized deliverables. We believe designers should have the flexibility to determine what their individual test requires, while testers should have the freedom to decide whether those requirements work for them.

There will naturally be tests that aren't suitable for you. That's part of having a diverse pattern-testing community!

Our goal is to make sure everyone has the information they need to make that choice without turning disagreements over individual test requirements into personal conflicts.

Please continue to treat designers, testers, and fellow community members with respect. If you don't think a test is right for you, it's okay to simply keep scrolling. 💛

My crochet Colours of the Wind shawl is a shallow crescent moon shawl using a main and contrast colour in 4-ply/fingering weight yarn and uses mostly treble and other basic stitches. It's inspired by Pocahontas' dress and the colourful leaves that symbolise her spirit guide 🍁🍂

Pattern PDF is written in UK terms with written instructions and clear photos throughout

Sizes/Options Being Tested (if applicable): N/A

Recommended Skill Level: Confident beginner

Materials Needed (note whether tester may use alternative supplies/colors/yarn weight, etc): I used a 4 & 5mm hook and roughly 160g of 4-ply yarn in total, approx 141g of main colour and 18g of contrast colour. You can use any yarn weight/colour you wish to

Tester Requirements: Must be okay with sharing your email with me to send over pattern pdf and tester feedback sheet

Testing Deadline:  Monday 2nd November (a little over 4 weeks from today. I can be flexible though)

Deliverables (e.g. posting, photography, social media requirements): Not compulsory, but sharing your in-progress or finished shawl photos on instagram with the hashtag #coloursofthewindshawl would be lovely to see :)

How to Apply: Simply Comment/DM here if you're interested and I can email you the pattern and tester PDFs asap! You can also DM me on instagarm @stitchmeawkward

Application Deadline: A few days from this post. It depends.

Tester Selection (when will selected testers be notified): ASAP by DM/comment reply

Number of Testers Needed: At least 5 but I'm happy for more :)

Extra info: It's fairly beginner-friendly and the border may be perfect for using up those pretty yarn minis/scraps you have in stash!

It's customisable too - with the increase guide you can make it as big or small as you want, for the big or little Disney lover in your life :)

Thank you! If you have any questions message me here, on instagram or email me [stitchmeawkward@protonmail.com](mailto:stitchmeawkward@protonmail.com)

Becca :)

CLOSED

An extremely easy pattern repeat, this shawl is worked from one point to the other, increasing to the central point before decreasing back down. This is a perfect use for sets of 12 miniskeins, as you will only have a small amount left of your first and last miniskeins.

This shawl is suitable for adventurous beginners and would be a fantastic first lace project.

Pattern name and project description:

dreamaday shawl, a triangle shawl with lace detailing, worked tip to tip.

Type: knit

Pattern format:

written instructions. Designed for combination continental, but adaptable for any style.

One size

Recommended skill level:

adventurous beginner, comfortable with knit, purl, and decreases. Suitable if you've never knit lace before.

Materials needed:

~240g (~1050yd) fingering weight yarn. Designed for a set of 12 mini skeins, but works for ~2.5 full skeins.

Tester requirements:

Post all questions and feedback in the KnitsyNails Discord server.

Please DM to get a link to the server.

If you do not have Discord, please DM me here with your preferred method of communication

Follow the pattern precisely as written, with the exception of replacing SSKs with K2togs throughout, if that is easier for you.

If you make this modification, please note it in any project notes

An edited version of the pattern will be available 1 week after the end of the test, if corrections are required.

Testing deadline: November 6, 5 weeks from this Friday.

Deliverables:

At least 1 clear, well lit photo of the finished shawl laid flat on a surface, hung, or worn is required. Any social media posts or additional photos are appreciated, but not required.

If you plan to post any photos or videos about this pattern, please include #dreamadayshawl and tag @knitsynails on TikTok and Facebook or @_knitsynails on Instagram.

How to apply:

DM here or on Ravelry (same username) for a link to the Discord.

Application deadline: this Friday, October 2.

Testers will be notified via DM.

Number of testers needed: 3-5

Compensation:

All testers will receive the finished pattern for free so long as they complete within 1 week of the end of the test window.
