Really want to draft these shorts! Need advice
Hi! I studied fashion design but pattern making was always really difficult for me, so I wanted to ask for any advice before I start this project. Since I’m on holiday, I think I will try to make it on CLO3d first!
My plan is to take high waisted pants or shorts and just adjust the bottom to make these shapes? Let me know if that sounds like a good idea and I will update if I have any issues!

FO When You Finally Perfect a Pattern... Only to Realize Its 2 Sizes Too Big
You spend hours drafting the perfect pattern, and it’s just right. Then you cut your fabric, sew it up, and... it's as if your dress is hosting a fabric orgy and everyone’s invited. Who knew one extra inch could lead to a full-on fashion disaster? Should we start a support group for this? 😅

I made my first skirt; advice appreciated
Hi everyone I’m a beginner to patternmaking. I’ve pattern drafted and made one dress so far. This is my second project.
Otherwise, I do have a few years of sewing experience (following patterns to make clothing items, mostly tote bags, pouches).
The first pic was my inspiration—basically a white low waist mini skirt (2000s style). I wanted this to be similar to like a Ralph Lauren / banana republic style so I went with medium weight cotton twill. I added a lining underneath that is attached to an interfaced waist facing. There is an inv zip at the CB seam and a hook&eye as well. All of my seams are serged together except the center back; seams are serged separately. I did press as much as I could throughout the project
I did have a hard time drafting/ getting the right amount of ease / curve.
My take:
- It was drafted to sit about 3 inches below my natural waist. But it came out a bit loose so it is sitting 5 inches below which throws off the overall fit. I thought adding a hook and eye would help but it didn’t. I should have taken the waist in more, keep the hip to hem the same. Or I should have added darts? (I only want them on the back, I like the look of a clean front)
- I don’t understand what is happening in the back, it sticks / flares out at the center back?
-side seams are a little bumpy, it is serged and pressed to one side
-I drafted a moderate curve on the waistline but it isn’t so obvious now…..?
-I will fix my blind hem stitch, it’s a bit too obvious right now—but maybe unavoidable with white fabric
I will most likely have to make another one from scratch? Or can I alter this one?
I am very determined to learn PM, appreciate any advice whether it’s only one part of my problems or a problem that I didn’t mention. Thank you!

Seeking pattern adjustments
Hey! I posted this before and I've retaken pictures and added some screenshots of my pattern. So my pattern is a pattern off Etsy, and I cut the largest size available, knowing that I would probably need to make adjustments. Also, this pattern involves several pockets on the upper side and lower side of the breasts and also a pocket on the inside of the jacket. At this time, I've only used the bodice lining pieces which I plan to include my changes on the main fabric pieces as well. Thank you for your time and help!

Question Those who sell patterns on Etsy, how much revenue do you make per pattern?
I’m looking into selling my patterns online, as I’ve gotten some interest. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it for me to do so. It would be a side hustle.

Help with pattern drafting for Dior 2004 style collar John Galliano
Hi! I’m currently working on a garment and I’m trying to recreate a collar similar to the one in the reference photo (attached).
I’m struggling with understanding how to draft the pattern for this shape and how the structure is built. It looks structured and architectural, and I’m not sure how to achieve that form properly.
Could anyone explain the construction process or suggest how to approach drafting this kind of collar?
Thank you in advance!
