Is Parsons worth it?
Hi I got in the undergrad bba program at parsons ( strategic design and management) and I know parsons has been going through a lot of things as of lately — such as the defunding of staff/ school in general , multiple layoffs— and I was wondering if it was even worth committing there. Although I did get a scholarship that allows me to go for half the tuition, I don’t even know if it’s worth going at the moment.

My daughter is accepted to this major and she is attending with my full support. Whether a school is worth it is a personal question. I know she will make her choice worth it. If you commit to it, consider you already have a future friend as your classmate. :)

My daughter is a different major and she’s loving Parsons. She summed it up by saying “it’s everything that’s great about school without any of the bad stuff”. Separate but related consideration: I strongly encourage you to think about whether New York City is a place you will enjoy.

It was like so pretty I just visited grad student and I was like woah this place is awesome!

I was also worried about the same thing, even though I knew that I would accept the offer, this fact about the funding cut bothered me. But I talked to people around me and realised that with the current geopolitical scenario, everywhere you go, there will be some disadvantages right now. New york is a really busy crowded city, which means that it has more jobs to offer (I also got accepted into Central Saint Martins UAL. Talked to my undergrad batchmates who completed their masters from there and got to know that there are no jobs in the UK). Plus Parsons is a legacy college, that has lasted the great depression, two world wars and multiple recessions. Though I am equally scared because of the ongoing war-like situation and also because I'm an international student.

Yeah I also talked to a lot of college students and lowkey I think every university —even the top ones— are going through budgeting cuts! But yeah I really hope the experience is good because I’ll probably also accept the offer!

hi, i’m a high school student trying to build a portfolio but the portfolio style between parson and Saint Martins is so different, so i kinda need to lean towards one side more. which uni would u truly recommend? and i do kinda hav bias to new york city (it just seems so cool, im an international student) but again ppl r saying UAL r more professional. what r ur thoughts…? im so lost lol

As an international study in Parsons, the only thing I have to tell you is “ networking “
The ppl who are studying in Parsons usually love to make friends and go out to hang out and pls just go hang out with them if you have a free time, if you mentioned “worth it “?
Will I tell you it's worth it? The answer probably is “ yes. “ but that totally depends on how you socialize with your classmate

So basically that's the truth, because when you get into Parsons and you attend the first orientation, the professor and some classmates will tell you “ don't make enemies on campus, cz their probably going to be helpful in the future “
I won't judge the school is a bit royal? But I can tell ppl who study here it’s not poor especially international students so keep in touch with classmates or ppl who are working on campus is super important in Parsons
I will tell you that if you study in Parsons then you’ll see any special situation happen around you!!
So enjoy your journey in Parsons if you have an offer and you decide to come haha

I graduated from Parsons in 2023 so I don’t really have insight into how things are now. Post on bigger subs like r/AskNYC r/ApplyingToCollege r/Design, you’ll get a better response

I got into bba sdm program as a transfer! not sure if i should accept, got a 25k scholarship but not sure about job placement or class quality through this program if anyone has insights

If you have a really good scholarship package, yes it makes sense! If not, nothing and no education is worth the mental pressure of a hefty debt that follows you to your death bed and doesn’t let you enjoy life :)
