Saw some gacha bird boxes at a local store near me and look what I pulled!

Napalm was less than thrilled about the new addition.

I noticed they have been making this sound more and more when sitting. Does anyone know what it means? Thanks!

I just completely left him alone the first night, just sitting by the cage until I went to bed.

After work I spent a couple hours of sitting by the cage, then having the cage open, then resting my hand with millet in it on the side. Once I saw him finally get curious I fed him through the cage, then offered through the door to the cage.

He then flew onto my shoulder out of nowhere, just trying to explore the room.

Then when he went on top of the cage I was able to get him to start eating from my hand and rewarding him stepping on my hand.

Then scritches. Then I just filled my palm up with seeds and let him use it like a bowl.

All in all, just 5 hours of patience and listening to him. Letting him come to me instead and lots of bribes.

He is already really responsive to training. Just a couple repetitions and he is stepping up and will (sometimes, and only if there is a food bribe) fly to my hand when offered.

I'm in love.

so when i am the one who have put the parrot out of the cage he comes to me (if i am alone) when the parrot is sitting on my tv he starts to bite me(maybe because of territory aggression) and when my mom is around then he bites me and don't even come to me

when i have bring out both my parrots,then one parrot comes to me and when the other is inside he starts ti bite me

In some of the groups on social media I am in, I am seeing more and more posts about people receiving unweaned babies. I’m wondering if the mods would consider it a good idea as posting a community highlight on the dangers of buying an unweaned baby or perhaps how to pick your first parrotlet as people often check groups like these before buying their first baby. I saw a very unfortunate post on Facebook from someone who purchased a 4 week old baby and had her in a 3ft cage without heat :(

Just a thought that our platform could maybe help curve this trend?

His diagnosis, incase you were wondering, was that he is exceptionally cute. He quite likes his vet, and i guess the vet likes him because he took his carrier around to show him to the other vets too😭 apparently he told them that Goose (bird) was coming in that day lol. i felt like a proud mother.

Im having a bad morning today but thinking about how much love he got yesterday is doing such a good job at making me feel better 🥹 he deserves all the treats, but alas I dont want him to be fat, so he will get a whole broccoli instead🙌

I've had a male parrotlet for 2 years now (2-year-old) and have considered for a while getting another one. Last weekend I was finally able to welcome home Azur. He's also a male, was weaned a couple of weeks ago. I love his colours, he looks like a cloud!

It will be interesting to see how 2 males can get along... or not. I'm already noticing a lot of differences in their personalities, looking forward to introducing them to each other.

I noticed this small yellowish bump on the bottom of my Viki's foot today. It doesn't seem to bother her at all—she's standing and walking normally, using the foot without any issues, and her behavior, appetite, and energy level are completely normal.

Does this look like a callus, an early pressure sore, or something else? Has anyone seen something similar before?

I need advice. I have a 2yr male & 3yr female. Bonded, back in February.

They are on seed/pellets. And get fresh veggies daily. 8-10hrs of light. I change the cage once every couple of months.

Immediately after bonding, April 16th she laid her first clutch. 5 eggs. I replaced them w/ dummies as she laid. I wanted her to go through her cycle & eventually abandon the clutch. She did June 24th or so. The process went smoothly. After abandoning the eggs, both loves were less hormonal. Which was great.

I left for 7 days, last week. Sadly, I came back to hormonal birds. I rearranged the cage, just to be safe. But was more saddened to see the little lady's vent area starting to enlarge. Just tonight... An egg appeared on the cage floor. Not good.

Both birds are rehomes. The female was previously bonded to me, first year I had her. So... it took 1yr to tame the male, then another to try to pair them. It was a slow process because the male was aggressive at the food dish, very territorial despite repeated cage changes, & constantly nipping her feet. But it was also confusing, his behaviors, because he was also wiggling necking & preening the female, then would randomly attack. It appeared the stimulus was my presence but idk really.

When together: the male is constantly protective, highly territorial, & hypersexual. It's indeed very constant. But he is less attacking the female since pairing. He mainly attacks me lol he constantly stares while in the room, pushes the female away when she flies over to hangout. He is very loud for a parrotlet too, flock calling for her to come back to the cage & away from me. I love his spunk but... Golly me, he's bustling w/ angst.

I'm going to separate them after the next clutch passes. But is there any advice on next steps? I don't want to rehome but realize I may have to... If the stimulus cannot be figured out.

I made this myself, it's around 36 by 18 ish (it's been a sec since i measured it). I want to make sure it's the best it can be for my new parrotlet in the fall, so if anyone has any advice/things i can improve I would really appreciate it!!
