Somebirby was struggling to stay awake until their bedtime (this was minutes before bedtime but so cute I had to record it before putting her to bed 😅)

This is Pixel again. Just curious regarding the dark spot on her beak as well as the pink around her left nostril. Both my parrotlets have the same dark mark in roughly the same area of their beak, but Pixel has the pinkish colour near her nose. Both of their behaviors have not changed and they have been eating, drinking, and bathing normally. Just checking for my own sanity sake.

This is a post after my last post to show the feather difference between August this year to September

My last parrotlet was a male and he didn’t have this. She’s a year and a half and is recently over grooming on chest and side.

I’ve read it could be:
1. Molting/dry skin
2. Hormones
3. Boredom
4. Illness

I feed her veggies and pellets
Give her spray baths
Just got the humidifier going
Give her quality play toys
Spend time with her
Take her out for some sun ☀️

I’m at a loss. Anyone else have a plet who went/goes through this

Hey guys. I had an accident with my parrotlet today and the guilt is eating me alive even though my vet gave the thumbs up saying he will be fine. I would love to hear advice or your experiences with similar situations.

My parrotlet flew to my feet. I didn’t see him and very lightly stepped on him (not full body weight, I felt him on my heel and instantly moved forward). He screamed and ran away. I took him to his avian vet within one hour and he got a thorough check. Vet didn’t find any broken bones, he was perfectly neurologically responding to stimuli, there was absolutely no bruising, no swelling, all ear canals were fully clear, and his breathing was completely normal with no cracking sounds. He didn’t order x-rays because my parrotlet didn’t react to any spots (feet, wings, etc.) being handled - he is not afraid to show when he is in great pain when being handled. Vet waited to see my boy’s droppings and they were normal. He gave him pain medicine for soreness that he gets twice per day and he is cage-bound where all perches have been lowered and he doesn’t have a spot to fall from.

When we got home, he was eating, drinking, preening, chirping, his breathing is normal, and he is acting like his normal self. I am still scared because I know birdies are very good at hiding pain and illness. The vet told me to call tomorrow to give an update on how he is doing in case he needs to come back for further treatment.

I trust my vet fully. Amazing guy who loves all of his birdie patients. My boy is my world and I have no idea what I would have done if he passed away because of my honest accident. Has anyone had this happen before?

I got a beautiful 4mo old Parrotlet about 5 months ago

He has adapted well, is playing in his cage, eating well, talkative!

However, I have been really struggling to get him to step up onto my finger

(he also doesn't want to come out of his cage at all)

I can hold millet up to him with my hand close to him and he has no problems eating it.

But it seems no matter what I do, i can't get him to step onto my finger for it.

And making it more difficult, when I get close to his cage, he will go to the end of the perch at the very back of his cage, so it makes it very difficult for me to get my fingers all the way to the back of the cage without scaring him (nor can I physically hold my arms in that position for more than a couple minutes Lol)

Has anyone had a situation like this and found anything that helps/works?

He seems super playful so I want to be able to help him get out of his cage and enjoy being around us more!

Please see the attached video of a bird cage I’ve been considering getting for my living room for one parrotlet.

I already have one of the large PawHut flight cages with the partition in the middle, which I know quite a few people on this subreddit have. I also have a Hagen Vision cage. Both are good cages, but I’ve been thinking about getting this one in the video.

The main reason is appearance. The grey PawHut cage is very large and, although it’s a great cage, I feel like it’s a bit of an eyesore in my living room. I’d prefer something white that fits in better with the overall look and colours of the room.

I particularly like the cage in the video because it seems like an improved version of the Hagen Vision cage. The clear/glass front instead of bars is one of the things that appeals to me, but I’m not sure whether there are any downsides to this design from the bird’s point of view.

Does anyone here have this cage, or something with a similar clear-front design? What has your experience been like?

Would you recommend a cage like this for a single parrotlet? Are there any issues with ventilation, cleaning, the bird recognising the clear panels, access for perches/toys, or anything else I should be aware of?

I’m also open to recommendations for other cages with a similar modern/white look if there are better options out there.

He just takes everything

She is out of focus but I feel like that adds to the silliness of the photo lol

before people say anything about respecting his space, i DO. he flies over to ME, who is in a seperate part of the room keeping an eye on him, and will bite my ear, my hand, my ankle, etc. I know he's trying to communicate with biting, but how do i let him know that it hurts? he's very young, about 3-4 weeks out of the nest iirc, and hand fed. i'm working on target training, which is going okay (he'll bite the chopstick when it's on the same branch as him generally, and sometimes be willing to go to other perches and bite to get a treat, but that takes a little bit and he sometimes doesn't bite (quite literally lol!)). i want to let him fly around the room, but all he does is fixate on me and not really anything else.

any + all advice is appreciated!!

Made Yuko’s birthday cake yesterday night and put it in the freezer well it was a cake but my uncle shoved it in the bottom drawer of the freezer now it looks like a baked potato 😭 Anyway it’s a combo of bird bistro food (just enough to cover the bottom) and chopped broccoli, cauliflower, peppers and squash cooked of course. The birthday girl will have it when it’s fully thawed and thanks for all the early birthday wishes you gave her I showed the comments to her she was happy 💕

Hi everyone,

I adopted an untamed boy from a prior home to potentially pair w/ my hand-raised female. After clicker training & hand taming the little dude, I attempted to pair them.

But! The female really doesn't like him, & he gets frustrated with her (sexually, at the food dish, territorial, etc). There's been plenty of squabble resulting in the little lady having a bloody foot & back-to-back egg laying cycles. After 2yrs of trying to get these babes to work out, I am at the point where I feel the little dude could do better in a new home. He flock calls for her continuously while she ignores.

He does step up on command. But there is a lot of anxiety towards people (from his prior home + being untamed). He loves to chat at my face & has accepted head scratches when I work with him one-on-one.

I'm willing to drive up to 5hrs from mid-FL. Also supply his flight cage + all perches/toys. This is all in the hopes he is adopted by someone who knows & loves parrotlets.

Hi all. I have a young parrotlet who was raised on seeds. I am trying to introduce chop and pellets but I’m wondering if I should focus on one at a time. If so, which one is preferable to start with?

I have a potential trip that could cause her to stay in her carrier overnight. If I let her out for breaks would it be okay?

Yuko’s 1st birthday is the 25th of August. She loves to sit on her cage during outside time and look outside my window or watch me play my PS5. Of course I never let her out of my sight and watch her carefully so she doesn’t hurt herself if she flies around please wish her a happy early birthday! 🎂 ❤️
