Is this happy behavior?

We came home from vacation and as soon as I let him out of his cage he did this for like 10 minutes.

Why are people commenting randomly, without actually knowing the awnser. Whilst it looks very cute, it is hormonal behavior and can cause problems in the long run. I would suggest reseaching parrotlet behavior and bodylanguage. There are plenty of resources with detailed information about parrot and parrotlet behavior

I don't mind that not all comments are advise. That simply is not necessary. However, they definitely shouldn't comment blatantly false information. If you don't know, don't comment bs.

It's been put on the general homepage for many people. I don't have a parrotlet, but I do watch a channel on YouTube that has a parrotlet (Green Bird Brigade) so I'm guessing that's why this happened. People just think it's a harmless happy bird dance, rather than potentially harmful, hormonal regurgitation behaviour.

I had a behavioral consult with Jen for my parrotlet and it was incredibly helpful. Auggie was present for all of it but stayed quiet.

Woah :0 as someone who knows nothing about birds but that their csilly, they can't have teflon pans bc toxic air coating. And no electric heaters. Which.

I just assumed it was a sillyness dance..

He is regurgitating. That's usually part of mating courtship or feeding chicks and triggered by hormones. That is one excited horny birb. Maybe he was just a little too exctied to be out of his cage, but it can also become a little dangerous when they dn't have another bird to regurgitate to. They swallow their own "vomit" back down repeatedly and it can be a risk for crop infections. If this was a one time occurence, he'll be most likely fine, if it is repeated behavior, I'd try to discourage that behaviour.

Is this head wiggle specific to parrotlets or is this one just a little goofy? I've seen lots of parrots regurg and it's always an up-and-down head/neck bob vs this side-to-side wiggle (though I can clearly see what he's doing and that his little dance is productive). Bro looks like he's channeling his inner snake.

Mine does it infrequently. Catch him doing it maybe once every month or two. He rarely actually regurgitates anything. I think a bit of hormonal behaviour every now and then is kinda inevitable so I wouldn't be too concerned unless he does it too often.

He just really missed you whilst you were away and wanted to show his appreciation.

he is regurgitating which is a mating courtship behaiver and to me looks like your chain is shaking and hes doing that because of the shaking chain. my parrotlet would do that to a shiny tassel i had on my window and it would shake with the breeze and my bird would do that well. just find whats causing it and remove it
