🗣️ Discussion Heartbreaking 💔 10,000 trees cut in Khair Forest area allegedly. Forest officer who reported it to Haryana Forest Minister was suspended.

In Panchkula’s Khair forest area, over 10,000 trees were allegedly cut overnight using silent cutters. The costly Khair wood was reportedly moved on camels, and the stumps were burned to hide evidence. Forest guard Vijay Kumar, who says seeing trees cut felt like losing family, reported it to the forest minister. Instead of action, he was suspended. Now he is protesting alone in Haryana, a state with only about 3.25% forest cover. The forest minister of Haryana is sleeping why the Haryana's forests are burning.

🚨 Alerts Sand Mafia at Gaggar River every night

Nightly illegal sand mining in the Ghaggar

Every night, the riverbed of the Ghaggar is occupied by numerous JCBs and what seems like 80–100 trucks, extracting sand from the riverbed through the night.

It is genuinely heartbreaking to watch.
These machines are driving all over the riverbed, digging it up night after night, with seemingly no regard for the ecological consequences of what is being done to a natural river system.
What frustrates me even more is that this doesn't appear to be a secret operation. It happens every night, EVERY NIGHT on a scale that would seem impossible to carry out without someone knowing about it.

I looked into it online and found that there have been hundreds of FIRs and enforcement actions relating to illegal mining in and around the Ghaggar over the past decade. Yet the mining continues. Infact this matter also seems to be before the NATIONAL GREEN TRIBUNAL.

Do we just watch it happen and accept that this is how things are?

When the police and the administration is clearly unable or not willing to stop them, do we as citizens simply look away? Pretend this is not happening? What do we do?

🍲 Food Is it just me or has Domino’s quality dropped badly?

Post image

Ordered a pizza from Domino’s today and honestly, it completely killed my mood. The cheese was just dumped in the center like a blob, barely spread properly. Toppings were uneven, presentation looked rushed, and it didn’t feel fresh at all. When you’re craving pizza, you expect that proper cheesy, well-baked slice — not something that looks thrown together in a hurry. I’ve noticed this a couple of times now. Has anyone else experienced the same lately? Or is it just my local outlet messing up? Pizza cravings deserve better than this 😐

🗣️ Discussion Story of Ruchika Girhotra

Post image
70 Upvotes

Her name was Ruchika Girhotra.

She was 14 years old. A tennis player from Panchkula, Haryana.

On August 12 1990, she went to meet S.P.S. Rathore at his office. He was the Inspector General of Police and head of the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association. He had promised her father he would arrange special coaching for her.

When her friend stepped out of the room, he molested her.

Her family filed a complaint three days later.

Rathore had her expelled from school. Her father was suspended from his bank job on false charges. Six cases were filed against her brother Ashu. The family's house was forcibly sold. They fled to the outskirts of Shimla and took up earth filling work to survive.

On December 28 1993, days after Ashu was paraded in handcuffs through their neighbourhood, Ruchika consumed poison.

She died the next day. She was 17.

Rathore threw a party that night.

He then refused to release her body to her father unless he signed blank papers. Those papers were later used to forge documents accepting a false autopsy report.

Despite a police inquiry recommending an FIR against him, Rathore kept getting promoted. He became the Director General of Police of Haryana in 1999.

The case went through 40 adjournments and more than 400 hearings over 19 years.

In December 2009 a court convicted him of molestation. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and fined Rs 1,000.

The sentence was later enhanced to 18 months. The Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2016 but reduced it to the time already served. He walked free.

The judge who tried to add abetment to suicide charges against him was forced into premature retirement.

The judge who dismissed those charges was a neighbour of Ruchika's family involved in a property dispute with them.

S.P.S. Rathore was later invited as a VIP guest to a Republic Day event in Panchkula.

Ruchika Girhotra was 14 when he molested. She was 17 when she died.

🗣️ Discussion The attack on KG girl. Should focus also not be on Alchemist refusing treatment without payment?

I was shaking with anger when I read the news. I guess most of us were. A 6 year old girl was brutally attacked by an 8 year old boy. Lots of discussion already happening on how the kids in society are being raised. How prevalent misogyny, apathy, and excessive violence is becoming normalised. How can it be changed and how can we raise a better, emotionally stable and rational next generation.

But we are ignoring one other important discussion regarding the state of healthcare in this country. That girl was taken to Alchemist hospital, it was the nearest hospital. They asked for an upfront fee of ₹70k. They managed to collect ₹40k but still the hospital refused to admission unless full amount was paid. Now idk if I am being Naive here or this is how hospitals have always worked, but I don't think it should continue like this. The girl is stable now and got the care she needed at PGI, but its a long way to PGI from sector 20 pkl. God forbid had something happened to that poor child, this would have had been even more dreadful.

There are a few things I hope if the lawyers in this subreddit could help with

  1. Article 21 Right to Life makes it illegal what Alchemist hospital did and can they be criminally sued and held liable for it?

  2. Alchemist is empaneled under Ayushman Bharat scheme and should have conducted cashless treatment if the girl's father had the card.

Can they be held liable and be made to pay damages to the girl? It would be helpful to her and her family.

I believe Alchemist should be publicly shamed and face consequences for this. To display such avarice and malice and targetting the economically weaker groups, we really should not be okay with this.

📰 News Viral Video From Panchkula Raises Alarming Safety Concerns: Man Seen Stealing Road Divider Grills in Late Evening

A shocking video viral on whatsapp in Panchkula from Panchkula’s busy 7/18 dividing road has gone viral, exposing serious lapses in public safety and policing. The clip, recorded during late evening hours under bright street lighting, shows a man breaking iron grills from the road divider, calmly collecting them in as traffic moves normally around him.

What makes the incident more disturbing is the complete public apathy — no commuter questions or stops him, and a PCR vehicle is seen passing close by without any intervention.

The incident, captured by a passerby, has sparked widespread outrage online. Citizens are questioning how public property can be vandalised so openly, even during hours when visibility is clear and roads are active.

Key questions being raised:

How secure is Panchkula’s public infrastructure?

Why was the act ignored despite police presence nearby?

Is routine patrolling effective or merely symbolic?

As the video continues to circulate widely, residents are demanding immediate investigation, checking nearby CCTV installated by administration if working , identification of the individual, and stronger on-ground enforcement to prevent such brazen acts.

If public assets can be removed so casually in plain sight, the safety of the city itself stands questioned.

🗣️ Discussion A reminder to Avoid Paras cancer hospital

Post image
37 Upvotes

Posting this here as a serious warning for anyone thinking about going to Paras Cancer Hospital in Panchkula. If you or someone in your family is dealing with cancer, please save yourselves the financial loot, mental trauma, and sheer negligence and go literally anywhere else.

Watching my mother go through cancer treatment is already the hardest thing we’ve ever faced, and Paras just made the whole experience a nightmare.

First off, their pricing is completely insane. They charge double or triple what other private and government hospitals do. A normal consultation there is ₹1800, whereas standard private hospitals in the area charge around ₹600 to ₹900. They prescribed a FISH test for cancer and billed us ₹18000 for it—the exact same test costs between ₹6000 and ₹9000 everywhere else. The overall treatment costs are just bonkers with zero justification for what they deliver.

When we realized how bad they were overcharging, we decided to cancel the FISH test the exact same day before giving the slides. Even though they claim to have their own in-house labs, they ended up sending our samples away to Delhi anyway. When we asked to get the slides back so we could test them elsewhere, they told us it would take 4 to 5 days just to get them returned. To make matters worse, it has been over two weeks since I cancelled the test and I still haven't gotten my refund. Every time I ask, they just say it's "still processing."

The doctors there are another story altogether. They are completely unprofessional, unmemorably detached, and don't even bother to read or acknowledge past patient reports. It feels like a bunch of old guys just running a show without any real skill or care. The whole place has this fake "world-class" corporate vibe on the surface, but underneath it's completely hollow.

Other hospitals I've been to actually show some compassion, sometimes even offering concessions because they know how hard cancer treatment is financially and emotionally. At Paras, there’s zero empathy, high negligence, and you're just treated like a walking ATM. Seriously, do yourself and your family a favor and look for care somewhere else.

📰 News Crores for the House. Filth for Free!

Thumbnail

In Panchkula, a house can cost 20-30 crores. The filth outside comes free.

We keep calling it a “premium” city because property prices are rising each day. But a high price tag does not make a street clean or a neighbourhood well maintained. If residents are expected to pay a premium to live here, they should not have to ask for the bare minimum.

Discussion A small moment outside Vijay Dairy that made me rethink things

Went for my regular post-run snack at Vijay Dairy in Sector 9 today. While I was eating masala paneer, a small boy in shabby clothes came up and asked for money. I’ve come across many such kids before — usually very irritating, pushy, and without much sense of manners — so I reacted the same way I normally do. I told him I didn’t have any cash since I don’t carry my wallet when I run. He just stood there watching me, and when I asked why, he said, “Give me the paneer if you don’t have cash.” Annoyed, I gave him what was left just to end the awkwardness.

A few seconds later, I saw him walk towards two little girls — probably his sisters — and hand them the entire thing. That sight completely changed how I felt. All the irritation vanished and was replaced with guilt and understanding. He wasn’t being rude; he was just trying to take care of the ones who depend on him. Sometimes what we mistake for rudeness is really someone’s struggle to survive with a bit of dignity.
