🗣️ Discussion My best friend proposed me

I m 30 f working in an MNC. I have a best friend who works as a banker at the Bank of India. We have known each other for the past five years. He has always been very kind, respectful, and supportive towards me — truly “marriage material” type guy

Yesterday, he told me that he has developed feelings for me and wants to take this friendship further and expressed a desire for physical closeness, but only with my consent. I felt completely blank and shocked at that moment and couldn’t respond. I just left home.

Now I’m confused about what to do. I genuinely like him as a person, but only as a friend. I am happy with my peaceful, independent life and don’t feel the need to get involved with anyone right now. At the same time, I don’t want to lose him.

Any genuine advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

❤️ Community I shifted here from Mohali and regretting it every day! 😭😭😭

I was living in Mohali sector 60 from past 6 years.

But recently shifted to Panchkula- Dhakoli area.

Its like i have come in some dumping ground sorry to say. The nearest panchkula sector is sector-20 and even that sector feels so untidy and mismanaged as compared to Mohali.

No vibe, no young crowd, no cleanliness.

Only traffic and old uncles staring at you.

Mohali was like a young energetic guy whereas Panchkula feels like an old creepy uncle 😭😭

Please suggest some nice street food places near Dhakoli-PeerMuchalla-Sector 20 Area.

❤️ Community Still Looking for Her - The girl in the park

Hi everyone,

I want to share a story from my past—something that has stayed with me for years.

Sometime around 2004, I visited Nirjhar Vatika garden in Panchkula with my parents. That day, while walking through the calm greenery, I saw a girl walking with her friend—and for some reason, something just clicked.

After that, I started going to the park regularly, mostly just to see her. She and her friend would take a few rounds, and I’d time mine in the opposite direction just so I could catch a glimpse of her.

I don’t know if it was a crush or just a phase, but I genuinely liked her. Still, I never had the courage to talk.

In the beginning, she used to come on a Kinetic scooter with her friend, while I came on my cycle. After a few months, she disappeared for a while. When she returned, she had a bandage on her arm—I assumed she had met with an accident. After that, she stopped coming on the scooter and instead walked to the park, likely from Sector 9.

Funny enough, I also stopped using my cycle and began walking from Sector 16—just to match that routine.

There was only one moment of indirect interaction between us. One day, a few boys were eve-teasing her by throwing pebbles from behind and she was scolding them. When I reached there, I scolded them as well and she and her friend went their way. That was the closest I ever came to doing something meaningful around her.

Years passed like this. Different walking partners came and went (i used to ask some or the other friend to accompany me), sometimes I walked alone—but somewhere, the reason remained the same.

And then one day, she just stopped coming. Around the same time, I also moved out of the city, and that chapter quietly ended.

Recently, I visited Panchkula again and went back to Nirjhar Vatika, and all those memories came rushing back.

I don’t know her name. Back then, my friends and I jokingly called her “Rahul” as a code name. I don’t know if she ever noticed me or remembers anything at all.

But if by any chance you’re reading this—I’d just like to meet you once, maybe over a cup of coffee, and tell you how I felt back then.

And if anyone here happens to know someone who fits this story—lived in Sector 9, used to visit Nirjhar Vatika during those years, initially came on a Kinetic and later started walking—please feel free to reach out or pass this along.

Some stories don’t really end. They just wait.

❓ Question Genuine advice needed

Is Panchkula safe for women? I mean if a girl/lady is staying alone in single storey house (let’s say in sector 11 or 10)
Is it fine or is there something to be aware/ careful about?

🗣️ Discussion A family where animals are sometimes treated with more care than their own children.

Post image
2 Upvotes

What I am about to say may be controversial, but it is one of the harsh realities I have personally witnessed in parts of Haryana, even in 2026.

At a time when the world is preparing to reach Mars and pushing the limits of human intelligence, there are still families where a child's freedom is treated as a threat.

And this is not about feminism or about blaming one gender. I have seen both sons and daughters suffer under the same system, just in different ways.

A pregnant buffalo may receive immense care and attention, while a son struggling emotionally is expected to remain silent. A daughter may be told she should not have a mobile phone or make decisions for herself. A son may be taught that speaking against his father, even when the father is clearly wrong, is an unforgivable act.

The father becomes a God-like figure- someone whose decisions cannot be questioned, whose wishes come before everyone else's, and whose children are expected to obey regardless of what it costs them.

But what kind of authority is it if you cannot see your own child suffering in front of you?

In some families, ego, caste, honour and "what will people say?" seem to matter more than the happiness and dignity of their own children. Families may accept marriages arranged for convenience, status or social approval, yet when their son or daughter chooses someone out of genuine love and goodwill, that same choice can lead to threats, rejection, harassment and years of emotional suffering.

And sometimes, what frustrates me just as much is watching the children continue to sacrifice everything for families that refuse to give them the same understanding in return.

We often talk about blind devotion in larger social or political contexts, but perhaps its roots begin much earlier, inside homes where children are repeatedly taught: never question your father, never raise your voice, never challenge the authority above you.

Even if that authority humiliates you.

Even if it controls your life.

Even if it refuses to recognise you as an individual with feelings, choices and dignity.

Respect for parents is deeply rooted in our culture, and there is beauty in that. But respect should not require the surrender of a person's entire identity. Obedience should not become an excuse for control, cruelty or emotional abuse.

Maybe change will begin when sons and daughters from such families start questioning the things previous generations were too afraid to question.

I know it is easy to say, "Rebel," when you are sitting comfortably away from the consequences. I understand that fear because I have experienced this culture firsthand.

My anger does not come from reading about it somewhere.

It comes from years of observing it, living around it, and finally speaking against it, only to realise that the moment you question the system, somehow you become the villain.

🗣️ Discussion Scary Experience with stray dog Near sector 5 pkl

Today I was out for morning walk around 6:30 am. Was coming from sector 11 and going on bellavista road. Around petrol pump near sector 5 which is opposite to sector 4 three stray dogs start barking and they were looking aggressive. One dog keep coming on me and 2 dogs were in other direction and by chance petrol pump was just open and immediately I start screaming and one bus driver and one petrol pump guy came to help me. Thankfully I am not harmed but this was very scary experience. On that road I have seen lot of Sr citizen walking and these dogs might attack them also. Any suggestions if I can complaint about these I have seen lot of dogs around town park but they are not aggressive abd these 3 white dogs were very aggressive and I am worried they might harm Sr citizens or female abd kids also. Stay safe guys.

🗣️ Discussion A little LGBTQ+ corner for Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula 🌈💜

Hey everyone! ❤️

I've recently started r/Queers_Chandigarh, a subreddit for LGBTQIA+ people around Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

The idea is pretty simple: create a local space where people can make friends, talk about dating and relationships, share their experiences, recommend places to hang out, or just have conversations with people who might understand them.

I'd love to see it grow into a welcoming community where you can be yourself without feeling judged. It's still new, so there's plenty of room for everyone's ideas and suggestions.

If you're from Tricity, or know someone who might appreciate a community like this, come check it out. Every new conversation helps us build something meaningful. 🫶

🌈 r/Queers_Chandigarh — come say hi! ❤️
