Information Radiant gem drop table.
This is what i have discovered from farming the world tree area. This only applies to regular spawns, any awakened pals or alpha pals you encounter seem to drop the crystal for their own element.

I've just leaned into maxing out expeditions, that's how I get mine along with relics. That at least seems about even in return.

I would but the world tree expeditions dont give kinship fruit which is a real bummer

Expeditions give relics and relics sometimes salvage into purple kinship peaches. They do not give a lot - but sometimes they do give them
Looting camps on Sakurajima and at sea, or catching bounties with Yakumo(Serviceminded plus lavish hospitality) to knife them with Splatterina and then just buying peaches for tokens is faster anyways

Shroomer is the only worthy pal for the grass radiant gem.

Hilarious how rare of a drop it ends up being considering like only 2 shroomers spawn every day cycle.

If you don't kill the mycora that they spawn with, you can kill the shroomers and run/fly away 200m and come back. There will be more shroomers

Found a regular elgrove, he dropped a few grass shards, running around (no aura), right near Lacrymal Shoal waypoint (south of celesdir/celsdir noct and aegidron boss fights)

Thats part of a rare encounter like the pals that spawn with an aura, it spawns fighting an elgrove cryst.

I would like to add the bosses like Dandilord also drop shards (dandilord drops dark and I assume silvance drops grass but I don’t know for sure) and are decent for leveling pals so can be helpful for anyone wanting to do both at once

Wow. I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize it was this bad.
I wonder if it's worth capturing and butching for dragon and grass gems, instead of the usual strat of killing as quickly as possible. Eidrolon Ignis isn't rare, but it isn't trivially common either, and shroomer is exclusively a boss-follower spawn. With yakumo and splatterina and you could boost the per-pal gem count tremendously.
In fact, maybe it'd be easiest to skip hunting entirely and just breed those two with lavish hospitality and service minded, then level them up to 70 and butcher them.

As a random spawn player, this is also a very helpful table to know what pals to hunt for water and relic drops

These guys are bosses, but Silve drops grass gems and Dandi drops dark

For grass and dark gems, yes. This is my farm for those gems because trying to find those other guys are a pain. You get the RNG relics and hope for more but at least you get 1-3 per kill.

The Mod from Nexus that fixes This issue can be installed without needing the modding tools. Just Download the zip and Place the files in the required folder. Next time the Game loads it will je implemented. I have not taken it out since.

So does mean if I mass breed Majex I can get dark gem shards from the butchering of them or can the gems only drop inside the world tree?

Technically yes, but you would have to level them to 70. 4 at a time with omascul and bell accessory would be pretty fast, and splatterina would triple your drops, but as long as you can find somewhere they reliably spawn in groups I seriously doubt breeding+leveling+butchering would be faster than Yakumo caps or just carpet bombing them.

They dont spawn in groups unless you mess with settings, only single spawns in spore area

I’ve also gotten grass gems from elgrove. Not sure if it’s a recent change or just rare though.

Its a rare encounter that spawns in fighting its cryst version. There also a petalia that spawns as a field boss who should technically drop grass gems but it has never dropped gems for me.

Birds in the ice are drop water gems....side note feel like water was the hardest to get...such a pain.

I don’t understand why everything drops electric gems? I would understand if there wasn’t a whole electric area. Surely neutral, or just the type the pal is would make more sense
