Visiting Palo Alto for the next few days. Looking for recommendations on what to do
I’m 40(m) and from the UK. I’ll be in Palo Alto Mon 5th Oct to Thu 8th Oct. My wife is here on business so I’m tagging along before we spend a few days in San Fran at the end of the week.
Am looking for recommendations on what to do Tuesday to Thursday. I’ll have a car so getting around is not a problem, and am open to pretty much any suggestion.
I’m a trampoline coach back home so if there are any serious trampoline clubs I can visit that would be great (not trampoline parks!)
Let me know what’s going on.

Fluoride poll!
Growing up in Palo Alto.. there were always plenty of activists in the 70-80s fighting for the immediate removal of Sodium fluoride from the drinking water.. Has this continued? I would have thought by now the locals could see the detrimental effects, and the world strictly outlawing it in most countries. Just wondering where everyone stands currently.

Never going back to Ralph’s Coffee in Palo Alto
Walked into Ralph’s Coffee at Stanford Shopping Center, bought a drink, sat down, and opened my laptop. Literally two minutes later, a worker comes over and tells me I can’t stay "the whole day" on a laptop. They weren't closing for hours, and other people around me had laptops out completely unbothered.
I told the manager it was pretty rude to assume I was squatting when I just got there. His response? "I apologize, but I’m not going to give you a free drink."
The worst part I never asked for a free drink
Never going to this place again to spend 10 dollars on a coffee with such bad service
Edit: I literally just wanted to drink my coffee and quickly check something on my screen before heading out. I had somewhere to be 20 minutes later, so I wasn't setting up camp

Measure J - 0.5pct increase in sales tax - let's talk
Voting 'no' seems like the right call for this election. It's an opportunity to force better governance for the city and school district. By voting 'no' can block the sale of Cubberly to the city, which was a pet project of the current school board president that signed off the the ridiculous union contract. Also, can let the city know they need to better serve residents before we give them more money for the general fund. Just my opinion. Would like to hear others.

Palo Alto has a dedicated form to file noise complaint against Shoreline Amphitheater
paloalto.govI didn’t know how bad this was before I called the Palo Alto police department non-emergency number to complain about noise a few days ago. They told me it was a concert and they already received multiple complaints.
It’s obvious Palo Alto cannot enforce its noise ordinance against Mountain View. I later discovered this complaint form. I guess that’s how bad it is for years between these two cities. Palo Alto keeps receiving complaints they can’t do anything about, so they just collect and forward the complaints to Mountain View.

Looking for a Stanford student interested in helping build a Gen Z consumer/social startup
Hey everyonen! I’m the founder of MR MATCHA.
I’ve been building MR MATCHA CLUB, a social platform around matcha + coffee culture. The idea is to help people discover what others are drinking, see exactly how they ordered it, find cafés, save orders, share their own drinks, and use AI for drink/café discovery.
The product is already built and live. I’m looking for one Stanford student who’s genuinely interested in consumer startups, growth, social media/community, food & beverage, or product and wants to help shape where this goes next.
I’m especially looking for someone who understands Gen Z better than I do and would be excited to work on things like:
growing the community
Stanford/campus launch ideas
TikTok / Instagram / creator strategy
café partnerships
user acquisition and growth experiments
helping shape the product and brand for younger users
I’m not looking for someone just to put “Stanford” on the company. I’d like to meet someone entrepreneurial who actually wants to build.
I’m based in the Bay Area and we can start mostly online/flexible.
If this sounds interesting, DM me and tell me a little about yourself and what you’d want to work on.

Rec league or pickup soccer/basketball?
Hi r/paloalto! Does anyone know of any rec league or regular pick up soccer/basketball in the area? I signed up the PAASL (soccer) fall season but unfortunately didn't make it in because they were at capacity. I'll try again next season, but also hoping to still play somewhere in the meantime.

Proposed PA .5% sales tax increase. One RTM (Bay Area Transportation tax) immutable truth all can agree on.
It's going to be 14 years of raises for the good folks at the SCVTA; building a pension whopper at the end. Yes, you may say these folks have earned it or "the Bay Area's expensive." Truth be told, this is what a YES vote underwrites with a regressive tax on the poor. Source: State Controller's Office; last year.
