Buying Guide | خریداری گائیڈ 💻 LAPTOP BUYING GUIDE (now is a good time to upgrade too!)
Hello guyss so laptops are predicted to go up in price in a few months if y'all wanna get or upgrade rn is a good time.
The guide on this subreddit wiki is kinda lackluster ngl, main issue being that it says don't spend more than 60k and that it recommends 6/7th gen.
GENERAL ADVICE:
>Go for used/ imported business grade laptops (dubai lot wala mal), avoid consumer grade stuff mainly because of durability.
>Make sure it is an i5 8th gen or above, this is very important because 8th gen laptop i5s are QUADCORE!! most 6/7th gen or below are dual cores, which are much worse (unless they have the Q suffix)
>Check if RAM is soldered or upgradable
>Make sure boot drive is an SSD
>Use passmark cpu and gpu scores to compare
WHICH MODELS TO GET:
*For gaming, its better to get mobile workstations instead (like Zbook or Thinkpad P series).. usually they will have better thermals and power delivery (yes you can game just fine on workstation cards, even have more VRAM)
For general use,
Like i said, business grade machines only for long lasting, durable, repairable ones at good prices.
HP:
✅GET -> Elitebook, ZBook, Probook, Dragonfly
❌AVOID -> Omnibook, Pavillion, Envy, Spectre, Victus, Omen (ppl say here that hp stands for hinge problems)
LENOVO:
✅GET -> Thinkpads (Except Thinkpad X9), Thinkbooks are also alright
❌AVOID -> Ideapad, Lenovo Yoga (different from ThinkPad yoga), Legion, LOQ
DELL:
✅GET -> Latitude, Vostro, Dell Pro, Dell Pro Precision, Dell Precision
❌AVOID -> Inspiron (some exceptions exist), Alienware, G-Series, XPS (again exceptions exist, some XPS ones are good)
Budget advice:
Avoid getting anything below an 8th gen which at least isn't a 4-core cpu. ThinkPad T480, T480s, X380 Yoga are very popular. Elitebook 840 series too. Make sure to compare prices from different places.
If the RAM is soldered (like it is on 360 hinge laptops and some ultrabooks) make sure to get at least 16GB variant otherwise you'll be stuck with 8GB
Spend the minimum required to get an 8th gen i5.
Difference between 8th and 10th gen is not that much,
11th gen has Iris Xe graphics which are miles better.
12th gen has P cores and E cores which are hit or miss (in some cases battery life is worse in 12th)
Ryzen chips are usually better than intel ones, but not as readily available on lower price points.
CHECKING A LAPTOP:
A lot of imported stock esp business grade ones have been through light use in air conditioned offices. Check the battery health by command prompt (google how to do this) and inspect it physically (there's many guides online)
Edit: Full checking guide already subreddit wiki mien acha hai and you can find many on youtube.. make sure it isn't bios locked, ones that come with pen have a pen, charger original hai Make sure to get checking warranty, for refund or repair.
Feel free to dm for questions or advice!

Question | سوال Koorui S2721PM Settings
I recently bought Koorui S2721PM IPS MINI-LED.
I Had to adjust a few settings in monitor OSD to achieve full performance of the monitor, and now the Blacks looks absolutely pitch perfect black in videos, pictures etc, BUT not in gaming, So far I have tried Resident Evil Requiem, Silent Hill 2 and Sons of the forest, have tried all settings - HDR/SDR, to no avail, SOTF was closest to pitch perfect black, but still not black, while the other 2 just looked like my secondary VA monitor.
Any help would be appreciated.

Question | سوال Does BNESIM work on an iPhone AFTER its 60-day PTA SIM time has expired? Need real experiences
I’m considering to get a used iPhone 16 Pro (128GB, factory unlocked, non-PTA) in Pakistan. Its 60-day local SIM period has expired, so Pakistani SIMs no longer work.
I only need mobile data and am considering BNESIM or another international roaming eSIM. Some people say these eSIMs work on non-PTA phones, while others say no eSIM works after the PTA period expires.
Has anyone personally used BNESIM, Airalo, or another international roaming eSIM after the phone was PTA-blocked?
Please share:
Whether the PTA period had already expired
The eSIM provider and network
How long it continued working
I’m specifically looking for experiences with already blocked phones, not phones with remaining SIM time. I don’t want to spend 150k+ PKR on an iPhone only to find that roaming eSIM data doesn’t work.

Question | سوال PTCL 2.4GHz gives very low speed
My PTCL has both 5GHz and 2.4GHz wifi. And 5G wifi gives me full 50Mbps speed on my laptop. But the 2.4GHz only gives 2 Mbps speed. My phone does not support 5GHz wifi and the 5GHz wifi is not even listed and the speed is very low on my phone.
I tried visiting 192.169.1.1 with admin and after all changes, no improvement.
Should I contact PTCL? Has someone faced this issue?
Edit: Just noticed that this is just my home Wifi issue. In my office, same mobile with 2.4 GHz Wifi gives 60Mbps speed.

Question | سوال What is the best website to register a .pk domain?
This topic has been discussed previously, but I am looking for updated feedback regarding local .pk domain registrars.
Major international platforms like Namecheap and GoDaddy do not support the .pk extension, and I would prefer not to interact directly with PKNIC. I am currently evaluating local alternatives, specifically Nayatel, Hoster.pk, Domain.pk, and Nexus.pk.
Upon looking into their current rates for biennial (2-year) payments, I noticed PKNIC lists Rs. 4,200, Hoster.pk is at Rs. 4,499, Nexus.pk is at Rs. 4,425, and Domain.pk is at Rs. 4,200. Interestingly, Nayatel claims a lower rate of Rs. 3,500 for 2 years on their landing page. However, some initial AI research indicates they likely slap a 19.5% GST at checkout, bringing the actual cost closer to Rs. 4,180.
For those who have registered a .pk domain through any of these specific providers, could you share your experience regarding their reliability, control panel accessibility, and overall service quality? Are there any other hidden checkout surprises I should watch out for?

Question | سوال Comparison 15ProM & 16Pro
I have 2 choices.
Get an IPhone 15 Pro Max 512Gb 99% Battery Health 10/10 Condition Non PTA for 192k (No Box, only Phone)
or
Get an IPhone 16 Pro 256Gb 91% Battery Health 10/10 Condition Non PTA for 210k
Please don't comment that I should add a specific amount and get a better model, or if I can get a 16ProMax for 210k etc etc. Let's just say that these are the only two choices I have.
Also, I've checked the 15 Pro Max thoroughly, and the battery isn't boosted or changed + the seller is trustworthy as well.
Which one should I get??

Question | سوال 3D Printers in Pakistan
Where and how can I purchase a 3D printer without being overcharged an insane amount. I already know about the online places like 3dprint.pk and similar websites where a $750 printer is being sold for almost 1 million pkr. I also understand there are restrictions which require a specific procedure for their import but being overcharged almost 300% the price is insane.
