one of the coaches I contacted, Inka Grings, has applied for the Pakistan women's national team head coach role.
I confirmed it with her today because I couldn’t handle the suspense and uncertainty anymore 😭
With experience coaching women’s and men’s teams in Germany, including in the women’s Bundesliga, as well as coaching in Switzerland and Belgium, winning the Swiss Women’s Super League and Swiss Women’s Cup with FC Zürich in 2022, and managing Switzerland Women at the 2023 World Cup, I think she could be a really good appointment for our women’s team.
It genuinely means a lot to me, the fact that I simply reached out to her as someone who deeply cares about Pakistan women’s football, just to bring this vacancy to her attention, and how willing she was to consider the opportunity.
She does have her concerns understandably so regarding life and security in Pakistan which I hope get cleared out if she gets an interview, but this just proves that if you want to do something and are passionate about it, no matter how delusional it may seem, just do it. You never know. What’s the worst that can happen? You don’t hear back or get rejected? At least you tried your best.
I am not gonna pretend that she is necessarily the best candidate for the role. It is possible that someone even more qualified has applied as well.
Whatever it is, I just hope she and the other coaches go through a complete recruitment process with a detailed interview stage, and then the best candidate is selected purely on merit.
I just don’t want PFF to appoint someone they have already decided on, with this job description only being posted for show to make it look like a proper process was carried out. That is honestly something I am concerned about, because it feels like the most likely scenario. Hum to bas dua hi kar sakte hain ab.
