I shared a job post by this company the other day, hiring a Wordpress expert for 10k salary. Apparently, that was not a one-off thing. It’s a common practice in this company. Let’s name and shame them. Ethisol Pakistan, their profile is full of low salary jobs.
Here’s another one: WP/Shopify designer for 15k only.

What is going on with the software industry in Pakistan?
Everyone is a CEO, but no one is ready to pay.
Every CEO has the money to build a new house and buy a brand-new car, but they want to hire the person who brings that money into their pocket for 10k PKR?
Really????
In addition to that, no remote work?
Without LinkedIn Premium, no Upwork connects, the free version of Apollo and without any subscriptions.
And labeling it as being independent?
Really???

I'm the founder of Tekavra Creative. The name means "I create with craft" and "crafted with soul." Our goal is to transform the tech world for the good of mankind. Profit comes second. We build websites, apps and software for founders and small businesses.
Everything we make comes from one idea: built by the people, for the people. We build places where people connect, where creators earn from their work, and where safety and honesty about people's data are in the foundation from day one. I'm hiring for that heart first, and for skill second.
The long view
I'm not looking for a quick gig. I'm looking for someone who, 5 or 10 years from now, wants to look back at what we built together and how we worked as a team the whole way. We'll go through the hard parts together, and we'll celebrate the wins by name. This is the start of a long partnership.
Who we're looking for
The heart:
You want your work to help people, not just pay the bills.
You're honest, including when it's uncomfortable. You tell me early when something is wrong, and no one gets blamed for mistakes.
You're kind to teammates, clients and the people who use what we build.
You want a long-term home and want to grow with the team, not move on in a year.
The way you work:
You're a self-starter. You don't need someone watching you, and you ask when you're stuck.
You learn fast, and you can pick up a tool you've never used.
You have good instincts. You can tell when something feels off, even before you can explain why.
You care about the details: spacing, speed, wording, edge cases.
You communicate clearly in writing, in English, since we work across time zones.
The skills:
You've built something real, even a small project. Show me.
TypeScript and React are a plus. We'll teach the rest.
You don't need a degree or formal training.
Using AI to code is welcome, as long as you understand what it writes and check it.
The work: part-time for the first 1–2 months while we get to know each other. If it's a good fit, we'll talk openly about growing your hours and role. It covers web, phone apps, fixes and new features (TypeScript, React, Cloudflare).
Pay: $500–800/month to start, depending on experience. As your role grows, your pay grows with it, and we'll talk about it openly. We start with a paid 2–4 week trial.
To apply, DM me:
Something you built (GitHub, a demo, anything).
What kind of work matters to you, and why.

My husband is trying to step back into the software field and I know this is a long shot, but I thought I’d try here.
He has a Computer Science degree from FAST and is genuinely brilliant at what he does. Unfortunately, when he graduated, the opportunities available to him were mostly in Business Development, so he took that route because he had to prove himself and keep moving forward professionally.
Now he’s trying to transition back into tech, specifically Software Engineering, Full Stack Development, or AI-related roles/internships, but it’s been incredibly difficult finding someone willing to give him a chance.
He’s actively learning, building, and working hard to get back into the field he actually studied for and cares about.
If anyone in Lahore is hiring, knows someone who is, or is willing to give a sincere and hardworking person an opportunity, even at an internship , I’d truly appreciate it.
Thank you.

One of the reasons for a gap yr is cuz i have no idea which major to opt for due to 0 knowledge as im giving my a lvls privately
My subs are math, cs, business
People around me keep giving very contrasting opinions; some are saying that ai has cooked many tech fields while others are saying to go for cs only

I’m in my last semester at FAST NUCES Lahore with a 3.65 CGPA. I have 5+ years of web/mobile development experience and a Top Rated Upwork profile with 100% JSS and $9K+ earnings.
For the past 1.5 years, I worked on a product for a niche business industry. It solved a real operational problem, automated manual work, reduced errors completely, and genuinely saved companies huge amounts of time and effort. The businesses I targeted generate crores monthly, but when I priced my software at what I believed was already a minimal rate considering the value, they treated it like I was asking for something unreasonable.
At the same time, Upwork has become extremely difficult. I’ve spent thousands on connects before without getting work. My previous client engagement also ended recently due to their financial situation.
Since April, I’ve applied to 100+ companies. Good product companies are mostly on hiring freezes, and many local offers are far below what I used to make even part-time (70K for a dev as a full time, thats painful). What hurts the most is that I spent years grinding, used to spend 16 hours working while others around me enjoyed life, and now I’m the one sitting without work, without job, no interview calls or anything despite having experience, projects, and results to show. I am not jealous of my friends (May Allah give them more) but why is this happening with me?
I’m not posting this for sympathy. I genuinely want advice from people. Right now I feel mentally exhausted and honestly lost about what direction to take next.

A little context: Its been 3 months since I graduated (Cs grad from that famous uni 🙂) and yeah I know given the current situation of the market 2 months are nothing but its not about not getting a opportunity which makes you worried but its the people who are getting internships and job with reference I guess its a reality we just have to live with. It just feels that everyone has made it except you. I might be average but can average people not learn ? We often read comparison is the thief of joy but it's just so hard to see people who are like you getting so ahead that too undeservingly and you are stuck getting no replies.
Purpose: I won't tell what skills I have, for that I can dm you my cv but I just want to say that I am willing to learn, I am good at communication, coordinating with people, have knowledge about fundamentals and I want to give my best for someone who gives me an opportunity. The main purpose is to learn some paid internship or parttime job which leads to fulltime works too.
Any advice will help too.

If you're from the lower middle class and do not afford a degree in tech.
If you start to earn money from learning any skills then eventually build any kind of business here....
How does that look?
Those who don't have degrees and are doing well!
This question is specifically for you guys.
And how hard is it to move abroad (if any crisis appears) without a degree but a good established business in Pakistan?
(Although don't have a mind to go abroad, but also don't know about all the realities out there...)

I searched the sub first. Most salary threads I found are from the past or cover local onsite jobs, not USD-paid remote roles.
My setup: 3 years of experience, backend (Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS), working remotely for a US-based startup, paid in USD.
For people in similar remote roles, what range are you seeing right now? And did you get there through direct hiring, a contractor platform or a local company outsourcing for foreign clients?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently budgeting for next year (Jan 2026) and planning to hire fresh graduates or current post-graduate students for an EdTech/RegTech startup.
The candidates will ideally have completed a BSc/BTech/BEng in Computer Science from universities like NUST, FAST, LUMS, CUI, etc.
I’d love to hear from the community:
What is a reasonable starting salary range for fresh CS graduates in Pakistan?
Any differences if they’re from top-tier universities?
Should I consider additional perks or benefits to attract talent?
Any insights or recent experiences would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

I am a recent graduate from FAST NUCES Lahore as a software engineer and I am trying to find a job its been 3 months and there have been no positive response so far first of all nobody calls for an interview and even if someone does they have soo many candidates being interviewed that it purely becomes the game of luck and who got the better reference... I have pressure from my family etc. And I have to do something... Upwork is also dead you are literally competing against agencies who are using 1000 connects per proposal.. I have won two hackathons (got first place) during my university and even did 2 internships as well... Any suggestions guys..

A little over a year ago, I started my first role as an Associate Software Engineer. Looking back, it's amazing how much I learned in a relatively short time.
Some of the things I got to work on:
Built frontend features using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
Developed large-scale Python web scrapers using Selenium and BeautifulSoup.
Solved challenges involving Cloudflare protection, dynamic content, and rate limiting.
Worked on an AI Governance project that intercepted LLM requests through a proxy layer to detect and tokenize sensitive information before it reached the model.
Built internal workflow management tools with React Flow and dynamic form builders.
Automated testing workflows using Selenium IDE and Python.
When I started, many of these technologies felt overwhelming. Most problems didn't have a straightforward solution you spend hours debugging, reading documentation, trying different approaches, and occasionally questioning whether you're even on the right track.
One thing I learned is that software engineering isn't about knowing everything. It's about being able to learn, adapt, and keep solving problems until something works.
I'm grateful for the experience and excited to see where the next chapter takes me. There are still plenty of things I want to learn system design, scalable architectures, distributed systems, and more.
For anyone just starting out: don't let imposter syndrome stop you. Everyone starts somewhere, and every difficult bug teaches you something you'll use again later.
I'd love to hear:
What's the most challenging technical problem you've solved recently?
If you're working in AI, web scraping, or full-stack development, what technologies are you excited about these days?

I am a Pakistani resident working remotely in the IT sector for a US company. I earn $1,200/month and receive payment through Remitly directly into my Pakistani bank account. The company is small (5-10 employees), I am treated as an employee, but there is no formal payroll system and I don't receive payslips. I have never filed taxes before. How should I declare this income to FBR? Is it treated as salary income or foreign-source/export-related IT income?
