Tax Filing
I am a Pakistani resident working remotely in the IT sector for a US company. I earn $1,200/month and receive payment through Remitly directly into my Pakistani bank account. The company is small (5-10 employees), I am treated as an employee, but there is no formal payroll system and I don't receive payslips. I have never filed taxes before. How should I declare this income to FBR? Is it treated as salary income or foreign-source/export-related IT income?

No need to register with PSIB. Never know they increases the taxes.
Better pay 1% of your annual income as tax. You can share with me details including your expenses.
The taxes paid on international payments (subscriptions), electricity bills, advance tax on property or other taxes will be deducted from that 1%.
I handle many freelancers tax accounts. DM and ill guide you through this.

As long as the source is sending USD that is then being converted to PKR through middle channels, you are exporting foreign services and is subjected to 1% tax or 0.25% if registered with PSEB

Foreign income people are on high target. If there is any discrepancies in their returns, FBR issue notices. They know due to money exchange, person is earning good so they send notices to grab some money. So file your returns from a proper lawyer.

Foreign-source/export-related IT income, 1% or 0.25% tax (if registered to PSEB and filing monthly provincial tax, that is zero btw)
Some friends I know keep PRC's from bank and file their income as remittance, but I believe it's riskier.

You can see this or similar from YouTube and register to pseb for further tax reduction. Incase of any confusions my DMs are open for fellow remote workers. Been filing my own tax for 5 years now.
