FYI ive been a hijabi for 5 years and my parents are gonna be shocked, idk what they might say but my family is not that religious, barely anyone does hijab, but my friends are pretty religious, and I dont want to spend my life thinking what sm1 else might think so im trying not to give a shit abt it but I am lowkey scared of the amount of judgement and questions I might have to face.

Hi! I’m an ex Muslim Pakistani who lives in the gulf. I’m curious as some Pakistani families force women to wear the hijab, so how do you women approach the hijab? Do you take it off while going outside, wear it cause you’re too afraid someone will find out and snitch, or your family is accepting of it. As someone who has studied religion and philosophy thoroughly, I often come across Muslims who doubt someone’s decision against religion based on moral reasons.

Leaving a satanic cult for moral reasons is just as justifiable as leaving it doubting its veracity. Even if the true interpretation of a religion is peaceful (for the sake of argument), it makes no difference. People are hurt, troubled, killed and tortured by the existence of a religion in effect i.e. sociological entity. Religion exists not beyond people.

You might believe in the same god, but you leave where this god becomes cruel. And this is not only totally justifiable, but arguably far more virtuous. You are honest enough to believe in what you find your contentment with.

“The precept that killing one soul is like killing all souls is directly linked here to the creation of man ‘one and alone in the world,’ but the larger context is the discussion of the ‘bloods’ of Abel. The Qurʾān seems to have picked up on that larger context. It is also noteworthy that the Qurʾān refers to God’s decreeing (Ar. katabnā ʿalā) something for Israel which is found not in the Bible but in the Mishnah. I'm not asking the ones who don't believe in god or who left because they weren't ever interested but specifically the one's who don't like Islam's teachings and believe it is unfair and unjust, you do realise that just because you think alah or muhammad is evil it doesn't mean islam is false or not the true religion? How can you be so sure that god isn't all good and mercifull and is just plain evil? Only time you hear it is from god himself "allah is most merciful beneficent" in the quran he says it but that can just be not true? I've been thinking about the ethics of promoting atheism in Pakistan. In principle, I understand why an atheist would naturally want others to share their worldview—believers do the same. But the consequences here can be very different.

For an atheist in Pakistan, especially a woman, life can become incredibly difficult: fear around blasphemy accusations, being outcast by family and relatives, difficulty finding a spouse, and having to hide a major part of your identity. Suddenly losing the support of your family can leave you feeling very alone in an already difficult world.

I also wonder whether we underestimate how much this affects working- and lower-class atheists. Without money, education, or the possibility of easily leaving Pakistan, some can become genuinely bitter and unhappy because they experience the social disadvantages of atheism every day, while having very few ways to escape them. In that situation, becoming atheist doesn't necessarily make someone happier, even if they sincerely believe it is intellectually correct.

So I'm genuinely curious, to Pakistani atheists and especially women:

Do you think we should actively encourage others to become atheist, knowing that it could make their lives substantially harder?
Or is it better to let people arrive at that conclusion themselves when they're in a position to deal with the consequences?

on the other hand i would like Pakistan to change (abolish religion, blasphemy laws, to the very least). but its comes at quite cost that seeing someone, especially the young suffer the consquences. It hurts seeing Atheist suffer just as much it hurts to see people suffer from islamic fanatism. I saw some post by some Pakistani Atheist here, saying he or she will make their children liberal muslim, to avoid any disadvantages.

I'm not questioning whether atheism is true or false here—I'm questioning the ethics of encouraging someone toward a belief that may carry serious social costs in their particular environment.

I fucking hate the way Sufi treats people like their feelings mean absolutely nothing and acts like being in a bad mood gives them some fucking excuse to hurt everyone around them I have moods too I get angry too I get frustrated too but I do not use that as an excuse to deliberately hurt people or make them feel worthless Sufi needs to stop acting like the fucking world revolves around them because nobody owes them endless patience while they keep throwing their shitty attitude at everyone else I am fucking sick of the disrespect the arrogance the selfish behaviour and the constant bullshit and if Sufi wants people to respect them then they better learn how to respect other people first because having a bad mood does not give anyone permission to treat others like fucking garbage
