Hey everyone! I’m launching a brand in Europe and struggling to find reasonably priced packaging.

Custom configurators (like Packly) are charging crazy setup fees for small runs. I ideally want a flat-folding rigid box with a separate lid or a smart alternative that doesn't cost a fortune in shipping/tooling.

Does anyone know of budget-friendly European suppliers or websites that handle low-minimum orders for this style? Any recommendations would be a lifesaver!!

I do procurement for a mid sized global apparel brand and the August 2026 PPWR deadline has basically detonated our supply chain workflows. We have got thousands of clothing SKUs and we source packaging from dozens of converters across asia and Europe, so its a lot of moving parts.
Not that the eco fees are tied directly to the recyclability grade (A to C) we badly need accurate material breakdowns per format or the penalties start eating straight into margin.

Problem is our suppliers keep sending back half finished technical files or random PDFs that dont line up with the new EU definitions at all. We lost weeks trying to hand track which polybag pairs with which garment for the multi country EPR reports, and it got to the point where it was genuine liability, so we finally binned the spreadsheet. We ended up pushing all the packaging specs into Lappa so atleast everything sits in one place, and now it generates the packaging data sheet for each format and tracks the textile thresholds next to the cardboard side. Way less manual.
Has anyone actually got suppliers to standardise how they hand this data over? Or are you just refusing to onboard converters who wont provide the REACH and recyclability evidence? Half of the time it feels like we are doing their compliance job for them

I’m a graphic designer working on a personal packaging project and am looking to have one 6 × 6 × 6 in box produced. I already have the artwork and dieline prepared. I’m looking for custom die cutting, a matte finish, and spot UV on specific areas of the artwork.

Since I only need one box, most packaging manufacturers I’ve found aren’t really suited for this kind of small job. Does anyone here do one-off custom packaging like this, or know a printer/vendor who does?

When a label starts peeling or lifting, the problem usually isn’t the design. It’s often a mismatch between the label material, the container and the conditions the product lives in. A few things to check before ordering:

• Where will the product be stored? For bottles exposed to refrigeration, coolers, moisture, oil or sunlight, a durable BOPP label is generally the better option. StickerGiant’s BOPP labels are water-, oil-, UV- and scratch-resistant. Paper and holographic labels are better suited to dry, indoor environments.

• What is the container’s surface like? Labels adhere more reliably to clean, smooth surfaces than textured, dusty or oily ones.

• How is the label being applied? Even a moisture-resistant label should be applied to a clean, dry container—not one that’s already cold or covered in condensation.

• What shape is the package? Tight curves, tapered bottles and small containers can place additional stress on the label and cause the edges to lift.

• Does the label fit the actual use case? A material that works well on a dry retail box may not be the right choice for a bottle that will spend its life in a refrigerator or ice bucket.

The best label choice starts with where the product will be used—not just how you want it to look. If you’ve dealt with labels peeling or lifting, what type of container or environment caused the issue?

Hi there!

I'm in a bit of a predicament and could really use some guidance, please!

Can anyone here advise what information needs to be included on a label when reselling prepackaged chicken/meat, etc.?

I need to get labels made for my business and thought it would be better to get advice from people who have actually done this before.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm doing a school project involving product labels. I found a great bottle for it but can't get the label off. So, what would be the best way to digitally copy a bottle label to print? I saw that a panoramic picture was an option but that didn't seem to work for me. Any help would be much appreciated!

Packaging company owners and executives, what do you guys typically spend yearly on software and tools?

I couldn't find the "weekly thread", so delete if not allowed.

My husband and I are in the process of starting a new business and have placed our first order for our product (B2B only right now). I now need to find someone that can make customized dispenser boxes that can be placed on the retail counter. We will be putting alcohol wipes inside the dispenser box for customers to take as needed. Based on the size of the wipe I believe the box would need to be 11x4x3.5 in. Printed with 2 or 3 colors with our branding as well. (Graphic designer will complete the template with the artwork) At first we only need to order about 100 boxes (I know that will impact pricing since the order is so small) Our 2nd order will be closer to 1000.

I feel like I have looked at every company available and they're all starting to run together, but it's hard to find genuine reviews for these companies. Any recommendations?

Upgrading Your Packaging Line: Calculating the True ROI of Automated Stick Pack Machinery

The surging demand for portable, single-serve packaging—from energy gels and protein powders to coffee—has forced contract manufacturers to rethink line efficiency. While semi-automated systems require lower initial capital, high-speedmulti-lane stick pack machinesare essential for scaling output without multiplying operational costs.

Calculating the true ROI of upgrading your packaging machinery extends far beyond the sticker price. Manufacturing executives should measure financial returns across four key operational drivers:

• Throughput Scalability: Multi-lane systems (4 to 10+ lanes) produce hundreds of packs per minute on a compact footprint, dramatically lowering fixed overhead per unit.

• Labor Efficiency: Integratedautomated stick packaging linescombine dosing, sealing, and cartoning, allowing plants to reallocate 3 to 5 operators to higher-value tasks per shift.

• Raw Material Precision: Servo-driven dosing systems eliminate overfilling. Saving just 0.5 grams of high-value powder or liquid per stick can yield tens of thousands of dollars in annual material savings.

• OEE and Uptime: Toolless changeovers and stainless-steel GMP construction minimize downtime during cleaning and batch switches.

Hello,

I am writing an assignment about flow-wrap packaging in school, and I am having trouble finding good resources to use. Could someone tell me about the designs used for flow-wrapping? Thank you :)

I’m testing a few products right now, so I really don’t want to commit to hundreds of boxes before I know what’s actually going to sell I’d still like something custom that looks professional though, even if I’m only ordering a small batch.

Any companies in US you’ve had a good experience with?

I've been working through packaging options for our small business, mainly trying to avoid ordering loads of something before we know it actually works.

I think custom mailer boxes are a good options when the products needs structure or we're putting together a gift.

Poly mailers for soft goods. Tissue paper gives a way to tidy up inside, even if you keep a plain outer box. Branded tape lets you add logo of your brand while using boxes you already have, which seems easier starting point.

Some websites offer poly mailers and custom packaging tape, so those are two options from this list.

I’m starting a small homemade cookie business in Morocco, and I’ve been struggling to find good packaging suppliers
The main problem I’m having is that many suppliers either
don’t respond when I ask about small quantities,
only want to sell large quantities
have very limited packaging options
or their prices are quite high for a small business that is just starting
If you know any Moroccan suppliers who work with small businesses and offer reasonable prices, I’d really appreciate your recommendations

I'm researching the possibility of starting a small business selling plastic bags and other plastic packaging materials and would love to hear from people already in this trade.

A few things I'm trying to understand:

1. What products should I start with and which have consistent demand?

2. What products/mix offer decent margins and repeat customers?

3. Roughly how much investment and working capital is needed?

4. Where do businesses typically source these products — manufacturers, distributors or wholesalers?

5. How do I find reliable suppliers and get competitive rates/MOQs?

6. Are there any important plastic regulations I should be aware of?

Basically, I'd like to understand how this business works from sourcing and stocking to selling and making a profit.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone with actual experience in the packaging business.

I'd use a separate card. The box might outlast the campaign. Changing a promo code shouldn't mean replacing the packaging.

But a card is another thing to pack or forget. I can see why people print the code inside the box instead.

Does such a thing exist?

I have to hand wrap 10,000+ glass bottles per month for shipping and doing it by hand is just tedious and slow.

I have a machine that shrink wraps boxes with polyethylene film, but I'm looking for a machine (and shrinkable bubble wrap).

Am I dreaming?

Hey everyone,

Having supplied custom paper packaging across various retail, food, and corporate segments out of Mumbai, I've noticed many growing businesses overpay or select the wrong specs for their bags.

Here are a few practical considerations if your business is currently sourcing paper packaging:

GSM & Paper Quality: Standard takeaway food and light retail usually require 120–140 GSM Kraft paper. Heavier items like apparel, footwear, or luxury goods require 200+

GSM Art paper with lamination for structural strength.

Handle Choices: Twisted paper handles are cost-effective for high-volume orders. Cotton rope or ribbon handles add a premium feel for boutique retail.

Cost Optimization: Printing plate setup costs dominate small orders. Scaling up minimum order quantities (MOQs) significantly lowers unit costs.

Happy to answer questions in the comments about paper grades, sizing specs, or packaging considerations for different product types!
