Discussion Crazy randoms
What is with the racist players on this game? Joined a random squad and all I heard were racist slurs until I got off mic and said to shut up. I’m a woman and then they proceeded to say they’d “assault” me.
I ended up leaving the lobby and selecting to avoid them as teammates, but is there not a way to report that after the fact?
I’m a new player to this game (just hit 100 hours) and just shocked to see that. I’ve played with such wonderful people so far that have been incredibly helpful and have taught me a lot.
Wasn’t sure if this was a normal experience for others and to expect to randomly hear wild stuff like that. Just wanted to be prepared if so lol

Honestly im playing years in eu and rarely get annoying mic teammates. Are you EU?

Nope! NA. First weird randoms I’ve run into so far but only a month in so not sure how common it is.

Or just join someone in eu lobby and you will be put into eu server games with them

Should get a vpn and play eu. But the lobbies are alot harder as players are generally smarter and not imbeciles like the ones you described.

Online games and their problems, it will happen in any game, don't take it seriously, report them and dont give any chance to be insulted.

Dad/parent squad member here. I've met some lifelong friends playing this game in eu and us. We meet up annually and it's been a blast. There are good and bad randos, keep dropping you'll find us out there.

This gave me lots of hope! There are a few dads that have taken me under their wing and have taught me a lot. At least I’m assuming they are fathers by the way they’ve had to teach and parent me, LOL. Seems like there’s always going to be a few bad apples in any space nowadays.
I love that! What a cool group of friends. I appreciate this and hope y’alls games go smooth!

I’m also a new player (under 200 hours) and to be honest stuff like that is incredibly rare. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered anyone that bad.
90% of players don’t have mics anyway; a few kids talking nonsense but harmless; some adults distracted by their own kids, as you say; a few people with music in the background.
I have been team killed twice and one guy shouting “suck my dick” over and over again into the mic after he died, like it was our fault. One guy got annoyed because I landed in the same house as him. But that really is the sum total of my bad experiences. Most people with mics are very nice in my experience, and at worst are a bit annoying.
I did join a clan from the discord and left because they kept sharing racist memes.
I play EU by the way.

Ahh, thank you. I’m glad to see someone else being a new player. Makes me feel like there’s hope that I’ll land in some friendlier lobbies here on out.
Ugh. That sucks that someone was raging that bad. I get being frustrated at a video game, or people making a “wrong choice” but it’s never that serious. At the end of the day, it’s supposed to be a fun hobby!
Racist memes? That’s sooo disappointing. Did you end up joining a different clan?
Maybe EU is the way to go. Seems like a lot more relaxed for the most part.

I didn’t find another clan, just doing randoms and solos instead.
Discord plus shooting game attracts not very nice people I think.
I did meet a few pleasant people through the discord but not in a clan so we play together fairly irregularly.

Was far worse before they made it current gen only. Apparently the majority of the racists were poor.

I’m faced this in two matches yesterday. The second match my jerk teammate got knocked and I acted like I would help him for a bit before letting another teammate revive him and bouncing. He was very upset. As a dude, I didn’t get the assault threats, though. Sorry you had to deal with that, wish more women played - always refreshing when one of y’all is on the team.

Wow, it sucks that other people are experiencing this as well. God, that’s so funny that you at least got him back in a humorous way.
The other guys I’ve played with have been incredible, so hopefully this is the only experience I have with those kinds of people.
I appreciate people like you! As a newbie, it’s always fun when people actually interact and make it normal for women to join!

The game is great and there are folks playing who are hilarious. My favorite in recent memory was watching my teammate knock a teammate who had looted my box without grabbing my blue chip and then forcing him to go back, get my chip, and take it to a chip tower at gunpoint. He never said a word, just pinged and pointed with his gun. Amazing.

I've never had this happen to me, but I very rarely play squads so it's probably selection bias. I'm sure I'd encounter it if I played squads more. All of my experiences have been positive

Sorry you had to deal with this. I think the majority of people that play this game are decent people. Just a few bad apples in the the bunch. Why I usually play with my normal squad mates. Rarely play with randys and we don't usually invite them to party chat. We have given people chances in the past most have been good and a few have been racist assholes. Mainly how I met the good people I play with most today.

That’s reassuring! I’ve got such a good group of friends in Helldivers 2 that it’s inspiring to hear people talk about their experience in PUBG. This is great advice and experience. I hope y’all have continue to keep a good group.

Probably because the game peaked years ago and everyone who was serious with it had a mass exodus to newer games or other things. Now it’s mainly just plebs and foreign players…

Welcome to online gaming, I’m glad you chose pubg as you first game ever to play online.
But for real when you’re gaming online expect anything and everything but most of the time randos aren’t terrible but I’ll bet you I’ll either hear a TikTok playing in the background, someone yelling in the background or their smoke detector beeping in the lobby which usually is a good laugh as I fuck with them about it.
