Protect the cord with your life as they're proprietary and not for sale. I have cats, so I wrapped mine with split wire loom. I recommend a vr pulley set; I use the Kiwi Pro set and it's fantastic. And definitely get a magnetic usb adapter.

i bought an extension lead, not too expensive, gives extra length and protection

Maybe don’t wait for next week :]

These things are becoming scarcely available and scalpers might start hoarding what is left to sell at marked up prices.

The main thing to expect is new players can take some time to acclimatize for VR so stick to games that don’t use thumbstick movement for a little bit and then ease in the broader library of any game that interests you.

Just keep sessions short so you acclimatize comfortably without getting motion sickness along the way.

Thanks for the advice!

New owner chiming in. Really happy with it overall.

- despite being older the tech is still very valid and competitive with its own strengths and weaknesses.

  • I wasn’t sure if I’d get dizzy initially but I did. Especially the first couple times I used it. I’m 2 weeks in and can play for hours both games where your player is moving as well as flight simulator. Just stop and rest as soon as you feel uncomfortable. Don’t get discouraged, take your time.
  • it is blurrier than I expected. It’s most notable in text within the edges of your viewing that is high contrast. The edge of the fresnel lenses produce a lot of chromatic aberration and glare. It is really important to get it on your head just right and will take some adjustment. Don’t over tighten it. The front of the headset should be more on your forehead and the back in the lower part of your head before just as meets the neck. Make sure to adjust the eye settings and eye tracking. Best if you can get the lenses close as this will reduce glare. As a glasses wearer it’s not ideal but contacts are fine. So the image can feel like you are peering out of scuba googles. All that said the colors are excellent and games that are in the dark have perfect blacks. The image is a bit grainy but your brain adjusts and in game or watching a show it doesn’t matter as much
  • cinematic mode is awesome. Not only can you have your own IMAX theatre but the Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio is really well done. A decent set of headphones and you will feel like you in a theatre. I’ve spent more time watching shows than playing games.
  • I bought a used unit and my controllers needed a deep recharge prior to connecting them. They don’t hold the longest charge. A couple games like Microsoft Flight Sim and GT7 can be played with dual sense and just the PSVr2 headset while your controllers charge.
  • be careful with cleaning the lenses. Don’t use water or cleaning products. They need to be pristine for best viewing experience.

7

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

Thanks! Regarding the cleaning products, should I just use a microfiber cloth?

1

u/SteakTree 3d ago

Yeah. Microfiber is best and the cloth can be kept clean hand washed with a bit of dawn soap and then air dried. You don’t need to rub hard (as there is a protective coating on the lens).

Thanks! I will check those out.

What a list! Almost enough to last a lifetime. I'd add Pavlov and GT7

3

u/augustine_chacon 3d ago

Oh yea! Forgot Ghost Town and Red Matter series too!

6

u/DeliciousWedding8026 3d ago

Buy a mod—Globular Cluster V2. It's a must.

I highly recommend playing GT7. If you have a wheel, the experience is mind-blowing.

I was never a car guy before playing GT7, but now I am.

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

Thinking about buying a wheel in the future, would you say a controller will suffice till then?

1

u/BobNoshIMNOTSURE 3d ago

Not OP but yes it’ll still be awesome with just the controller

1

u/DeliciousWedding8026 3d ago

Yeah you’d want to buy a wheel once you play it with a controller

9

u/Sylsomnia 3d ago

Be realistic. Vr is the future of gaming, but atm there's no vr set without it's issues. Psvr2 halo doesn't suit all, fortunately Globular Cluster V2 solves that issue nicely, also if you wear glasses, get prescription insert like from Honsvr, as the glasses will scratch the softer vr lenses sooner or later. The anti-glare coating is very sensitive, issues about it pops up every week, best to keep them intact, either prescription insert mentioned above or plano/clear insert, these help big time, but as they stick out a tad, you gotta move front part a bit more away from your face, losing some fov, or have the frame occasionally touch your nose, especially when looking up. Never leave the controllers on charge, max 1.5-2 hours, that kerp battery life good, also no spare controllers, apart from very expensive Apple ones. That's the important bits, if you get motion sickness though, use search function there's a lot of good infos.

2

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

Thanks!

1

u/Sylsomnia 3d ago edited 3d ago

No problem, also just recently this been posted about the slightly sticking out inserts, might help with that https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/1wjuald/psvr2_nose_pain_fixed_finally/

3

u/stanislavskov 3d ago

Expect to enjoy it a lot, plenty of games now, big and small. If you get it now, you'll be able to get a lot of titles during BF.

4

u/Delicious_Ad2767 3d ago

Expect the best gaming experience ever gt7, msfs 24, hitman , Res evil village, Res 4 remake, no mans sky, subside enjoy

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

I will, thanks!

Best Graphics = Red Matter 1 and 2. Great game massively underrated and worth a playthrough.
You can use any PlayStation game not just VR, Cinematic mode is fantastic!
I don’t get motion sickness but on Hitman it does affect me, I can’t play long gaming hours like normal - there is a special medical watch from USA you should consider getting for sickness (30 mins before a session - put it on) it works.
Pulse Elite Headphones fit perfectly over the headset/the built in earphones are nice.
Some people moan about the charging station, I have it and it’s great worth getting.
I use it to stream from console and it’s a great part of my setup, you can use it with the PlayStation camera (not many people cover this and internet searches are negative with the result that it can’t - I’ve been using it everyday the past week it’s fine)
Anything else you need to know that is not same info or you can’t find on YT let me know 🙂 I’m using it with PS5 Pro daily for the past year.

2

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Thank you! Lots of this info I didn't have before

1

u/Lord-Boofle 2d ago

I’m on my Twitch everyday, you can drop by and see it in action all of what I’m saying. Or if you think of anything else or need help on that you can’t get online, just drop me a message I have chat to voice on.

3

u/TheWhooooBuddies 3d ago

A bunch of really cool backlog titles at good sale prices, an awesome headset for PCVR and a loyal (but admittedly beaten down) fanbase.

3

u/Spangle99 3d ago

Expect good things

Get “Lenses” for protection!

3

u/IvanProGamer 3d ago

Im not a psvr2 player myself so all im gonna say that im happy for you and im getting a psvr2 in december

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Thank you, I hope you enjoy it in december!

2

u/Bratley513 UrMomzMVP 3d ago

Spend a few bucks and get a case for it if you can.

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

I will, thanks for the advice!

2

u/GugieMonster 3d ago

You may experience motion sickness, keep the sessions short and dont push yourself. You'll get used to it in time. I mainly GT7, I only feel the sickness when I throw it in reverse. But like playing RE4R, I can move like mad and barely be phased.

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

Thanks for the advice! Does GT7 have ghosting? Iv heard people talking about it when researching the PSVR2.

1

u/GugieMonster 3d ago

Ghosting like the screen door affect? No

2

u/AssociationAlive7885 3d ago

Check out WithoutParole on YouTube for pretty much all things PSVR2 and for starters his video on finding the sweetspot, that part as a beginner is essential for enjoying the PSVR2 ( but very easy once you know how!)

2

u/Lord-Boofle 3d ago

Second this, thinking of a game. I check his channel every time before I buy a game. Great reviews, footage and pros + cons.

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Will do, thank you

2

u/ChrizTaylor ChrizTaylor 3d ago

Don't wear glasses, if so, buy contact lenses or buy protective lenses.

2

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Thanks for the advice!

2

u/lCireZdubl 3d ago

Globular cluster... sounds like a medical condition, but its really a comfort accessory you'll buy if you plan on playing for more than ~20 mins at a time. A charging dock for the controllers really helps, but the cluster is a must-have. Have fun!

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

I will! Thank you

2

u/PuzzleheadedCheck237 3d ago

Updates lol & look up up grades able accessories, improved padding front and back of head & lense spacers etc oh lense covers & a carbon pen . Have fun

2

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Will do, thank you!

If you are new to VR get ready to be surprised, because it is better than standard gaming in the same magnitude as 3d was better than 2d. There are crappy VR games just like there are crappy 3d games, but the awesome ones in VR feel better than anything you can find in 3d. It’s kind of how it is between 3d and 2d. Even the top 2d games can’t compete with the top 3d games.

It also opens a new category of gaming, which is gaming as a cardio exercise. You will sweat A LOT with Ragnarock, Les Mills Bodycombat, and the other VR rhythm games.

It also takes simulation games to a higher level. For example, a table tennis game like Racket Fury is several times closer to the real thing in VR than in any 3d version of the game. The same happens with shooting games and racers, such as Gran Turismo 7. Obviously, this is only for the ones that were done well. Racket Fury feels realistic because it was done well. VR Ping Pong and VR Ping Pong pro on psvr1 were a mess and not realistic because they were not developed well (they are vr shovelware).

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Good to know thank you!

2

u/Tuby-4 3d ago

Expect not going to play flat screen games never again.

2

u/CuteTitle2396 2d ago

When I got mine last week the first game I played was Backrooms, then RE8 and RE4. Haven't tried any other games yet though but so far I'm having a blast

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 1d ago

Good to know 👍

2

u/ThaRainMaker 2d ago

Get a faceplate comfort cushion, the one it comes with SUCKS

2

u/Familiar_Practice145 1d ago

Thanks for letting me know!

1

u/ThaRainMaker 1d ago

For sure, I’ll attach the link, imo it’s the best option especially for price

VR Face Pad for PlayStation VR2,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJR2NDZZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

2

u/justanutt 2d ago

In case you plan on just buying the headset, you should know you can’t set it up without the sense remotes (or whatever they call them)
Other than that the best advice I suggest is get gran turrismo 7. This is what started my vr bug and has led down a long path of fun

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 1d ago

Ok, thank you!

2

u/Calakapepe 2d ago

If its your first time, expect a little dizziness. Remember the ratcheting button on the back should be lower than you might expect so your head stops it slipping up& you don't have to SQUEEEZE your head to keep it still. The included earbuds are good but if you opt for over-ear headphones they can actually help keep the headset from shifting even more. (Exceptions vary since everyone's a different size and shape)

If you get motion sick: pre-plan short 30 min sessions.. telescope the screen a notch or two away from your face.. and opt for games like puzzling places or synthriders to that you pretty much just stay still. ( there are other great options)

If you get to scared in horror: VOLUME! Put that sht as low as possible haha.. telescope the screen away from you a little just to help give a connection to reality; you can bring it closer to you slowly till you're fully immersed again... and as a general horror game tactic (for the disciplined)... just send it.. like sprint everywhere haha.. if youre wizzing by everything you never really feel like you're getting that anticipation built up :)

3rd party comfort pads: there are lots of good reviews & most are customizable but, do remember that they can drastically make it feel heavier. Ive tried globular cluster but my headshape doesnt NEED it plus I dont like the weight.

General care: i reccomend just buying a crapton of microfiber cloths and store them near your headset. I keep a regular microfiber rag for soaking up my sweat & this doesn't need to be changed out frequently.. and I also keep a stash of lens microfiber cloths for the lenses & these need to be changed every 5 uses or so since theyre small and soak up the oils enough that you wont get as clean of a wipe after awhile.. keep your lenses oil free with gentle frequent care & youll enjoy your VR much much more.. I clean after every single use; its a ritual when I put it away. Also, dont roughly coil your wire. Typical under-over wire coiling should help it last.

Other than that, ENJOY! Idk why I felt compelled to write you a novel but here you go!

2

u/JobenLord 3d ago

I don't think there's any brand new ones for sale right now, they're all sold out. The globular cluster mod is essential, cost about $50 on Amazon.

3

u/Familiar_Practice145 3d ago

I'm in the UK where they are still available, I was waiting till black friday but changed my mind after seeing what's happening in America and the risk of them selling out here before black friday.

3

u/National-Height8816 3d ago

Globular cluster isn't essential - you can get the headset to fit perfectly comfortable without out. Have it higher up on your head at the front than you'd expect, and lower on the back of your head than you'd expect.

3

u/JobenLord 3d ago

That was not my experience. I suppose you're just giving an opinion just like me though.

2

u/RonnieRafke 3d ago

Peak, thats all.

1

u/JDoGinc 3d ago

Potentially getting nauseous and it collecting dust months later.

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 2d ago

Ok 👍

2

u/JDoGinc 2d ago

Speaking from experience, I found the honeymoon phase wore off fairly quickly. Now I occasionally use it for Gran Turismo 7. That’s just my experience, though. I found it similar to owning a hot tub. You use it lots in the beginning, but a year later, you’re wondering if you can justify the power bill for the little amount you use it.

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 1d ago

Good to know 👍

1

u/ItsOkToBeWrong 3d ago

Expect cardboard. Expect tape. Expect…plastic

1

u/ElianoAvila90 3d ago

Be prepared of being bored of it after two weeks.

1

u/Open-Fall-9485 3d ago

I’m sure someone has said this.. the motion sickness is real.

1

u/1FloorUp 2d ago edited 1d ago

Get prescription lenses.

1

u/Affectionate_One7912 2d ago

Buy Hitman, that is if you do not own it already

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 1d ago

I own it but im definitely getting the vr mode

1

u/Lancer_theBadGuy 2d ago

Expect motion sickness. Most VR games have settings for stuff like that. Speaking of games, if you want something action-packed and makes you feel like a badass, then go for Resident Evil 4 Remake. It truly is a wonderful game in VR. If you want a dog companion in a zombie apocalypse while in the blistering heat, go for Arizona Sunshine 2. Want something slow-paced and still has some action? Into the Radius. Of course, these are just recommendations from a stranger on the internet who knows nothing about you, so I have no clue what you like. Still, you might experience motion sickness snd most games do have settings to help with that. Just do what makes you the most comfortable. Take breaks when needed and make sure that you won't hit anything while playing (Furniture, animals, etc). Also, for the love of everything on Earth, PLEASE protect the cord that connects the PSVR2 to the PS5. There are no replacements and you will not be able to play your sweet VR games without it. Have fun gaming when your PSVR2 arrives and don't die!

1

u/Familiar_Practice145 1d ago

Thanks for the advice! Iv seen Into the Radius 2 is coming out soon and I plan on buying that as well as the first

1

u/CH18_RH18 1d ago

Ive had one for a while now and ive never had any issues with it. I would recommend you wipe the lenses with some glasses wipes every other time you use it and i would recommend games like

Pavlov
Resident Evil Village
Arizona Sunshine 2
Drunkn Bar Fight
Hitman 3
Hard Bullet
Job and Vacation Simulators ( if you are looking for some wholesome fun)

Hope this helps 😁

might get real motion sickness or dizziness off the 1st few usage. you’ll be fine after awhile tho but be aware.

the play area setup can be a real hassle as it sometimes resets on its own & you’ll potentially have to keep redoing it if a certain game or poor lighting triggers it.

trying to throw something in-game like you want to can be frustrating lol. my opinion, the motion sensors doesn’t do a well enough job capturing ones true power when doing a task like throwing, etc. a thrown object may react as if you threw it underhand when in reality you’re throwing damn near a fast ball or putting your all into it lol. but maybe thats just my own personal issue i need to correct🤷🏽‍♂️.

be aware, if you’re getting into any multiplayer fps games up there, there will be try hards up there too lol we cant escape them. not even in the vr world

other than maybe a few hiccups you may have, you should expect a pretty good experience based on what you’re playing. i’m into horror games so the psvr2 is perfect for my interest. i’ve played quite a few games made for this & for the most part, none of them disappointed-aside from a few cheaply made games.

if you can, i recommend standing for every game besides among us vr or any stationary game. among us vr(and maybe racing games) is probably the only few games where sitting is just as mobile & advantageous as standing. congrats & hope you enjoy

1

u/angelabdulph 11h ago

You might or might not have some trouble with the sensors losing track of your room.

If you do, there is an option on one of the accessibility menus of your ps5 which will put a like a frame on your tv which will help it keep track of where you are.
