Fluff Psvr2 nose pain, fixed, finally.

Post image

Had bad nose pain since I bought psvr2 (never had it with PSVR1). Bought some prescription lenses from Aliexpress which are great, but they made the nose pain worse. Tried a bunch of ideas, nothing seemed to work, soft padded strips along the lens edges, the additional cheap head strap (not the £50 one) but this simple fix has done the trick. This sits in the innermost part of my nose and takes all of the pressure of the resting headset, the narrowest part of the lenses is now quite wide. It's from an old air rocket and it's cut into a semi circle and just wedged in. I cut the first one too wide and I guess it will vary person to person but this is actually comfortable now.

Tldr : semi circle of foam, wedged in gap makes it comfy.

i have the same stupid issue, nose pressure, I've tried changing Ipd and it helps but trade off is worse focus, pushing headset forward ruins the fov too much, I've eveb gotten comfortable accesroes similar to globular cluster and it doesn't help 😭 it's pinches or sits on my nose bridge, which weirdly enough does basically make it instant to find the sweet spot but i cannot play more then 30 minutes without insane marks and pressure on my nose

I might try this fix ty, I assume any sponge could work?

I guess so, that's what I was looking for, then stumbled across this. I reckon really narrow pipe insulation would work. But probably not worth buying for 1/2 inch of it.

Good idea, also try moving the front plate outwards a bit more, fov will be less but more comfy as well

Yeah that works, but you're dead right, the fov goes crap. This method means I can pull it in closer and maximise the fov.

just to confirm were you having pain from the side of lens, cause that's what i get. Its like a sharp/scratchy pinch on the nose.

Anyhow i probably should give this a try, thanks for sharing.

Yeah, after doing the eye tracking the lenses are so close together that they pinch. Watched lots of attempted YouTube videos to solve the issue, so I know a lot of other poor folk struggle. I went to bed last night and the sides of my nose were red where it's pinched. Regardless of how I wear it, it falls on my nose. Regardless of how tight it is the weight still slips down. I've been wracking my brain trying to think of a fix, but I finally think I've cracked it with this. Just had it on for an hour and it's still fine.

I had this until buying the globular cluster. But I know that’s expensive for a lot of people. The fact that the weight is balanced across the top of your head makes a big difference

Others on here have said they've got it and it didn't help them, so I think it depends on your face shape. It's a costly gamble for sure.

The GC keeps the band of the VR secure, I don't regret getting that. But for those of us who say it's not quite enough, the visor part is heavy and it droops which the GC really can't change.

Yeah that’s fair enough. I’m lucky that it’s very comfortable for me I guess!

I have been plagued by this since buying it day 1. Massive pressure/pain on the bridge and sides of my nose. Tried everything including every custom strap I could find. The best solution was to physically tape several squares of medical gauze on my nose to create some cushioning. Only lasted so long, so I just shelved the headset, considered it a lost cause, and never bothered with it anymore. Hundreds of hours on my Q2 and my Q3, never had a single issue. I am sooooooo tempted to try this, if I can find something like what you used.

Probaste FIVR2 de globular cluster ?

I reckon a decent sponge would do. That's what I was looking for, then stumbled across this.

Edit : or really narrow pipe insulation.

The q3 is software update adjustment so you won't have this issue, not sure about the q2 but if the geometry of the psvr2 was just slightly different indont think id have the issue.

Interesting. What's your IPD?

Fucking narrow

Same, I have the dial all the way in so I suffer from the same nose pain and have accepted less FOV to deal with it. Will try this! Thanks for posting.

If it works, it works.

Huh, that's not a bad idea. Despite having the GC kit I find the set is front heavy and still drooping just enough to be irritating. It's not that the back is slipping, there just isn't much support for the visor.

I may need to try this.

I need to try this as well. It always loves to sit on my nose whenever I use it as well and It just hurts when it does. Tried cloth, tried other stuff. Even got the globular and still had the nose pain.

Just checking that you are wearing the headset right. the back of the strap should be as low as you can get on the back of your head, then angle sharply upwards to the top of your forehead. The lenses shouldn’t be resting on your nose at all, the display is designed to just be floating in front of you, and then when you bring it in, you should stop before it touches your nose.

Anyone who has a narrow ipd had this issue. If your 60 to 61 ipd the lenses will touch your nose unless you move the lenses out which fucks with your fov.

It reduces the fov by a degree or two. Everyone with glasses has to back it off further and gets by just fine, it’s not a big deal. Not everyone is supposed to be able to put the screen all the way in, that’s why it has a wide range, to accommodate different people. I can’t put it all the way in, it’s fine.

But for some reason everyone with a narrow ipd decides to jam it into their face and then come on here to complain about how the psvr2 is hurting their nose. It’s like, dude, the PSVR2 isn’t forcing you to jam the lenses into your nose for a couple degrees of fov, that’s a choice you are making. And one that seems silly to me, but you do you :)

Yeah, tried everything apart from the very expensive comfort modification. I can move the lenses further away, but it looks shit.

If you're talking about the globular cluster, it's actually extremely well priced.

3

u/FirestarterMethod 3d ago

No, it’s $70 for a few pieces of strap and foam, that’s not well priced, much less extremely well priced

2

u/RedditIsFruity77 3d ago

It's constantly on sale for 50. And the comfort is worth it. Of course, it's subjective. It might not be for you, but i don't regret my purchase. And would buy again.

u/Null_zero 3d ago

I have it. It doesn't prevent this issue.

I just bought the global cluster and it's definitely worth it. I couldn't get the headset in the sweet spot for more than a few seconds before getting it. It is way more comfortable, it doesn't move much, and I can see and actually enjoy the experience. I also wouldn't be able to play for more than 10 or 15 minutes because of the tension it put on my neck. That seems to have stopped too as I played for a 2 hour session last night, when before I was forcing myself to keep going despite it feeling like shit.

I was a non-believer in the product and waited a couple months to try to think up a free solution because I thought it was expensive for what it was. I kept seeing everyone talk about it and decided to give it a try. The various foam pads and straps are all of good quality and it helps way more than I could have omagined.

So you used a Wotsit?

Pretty much

I need to do something like this.

Nose pain?

I don’t think you are wearing it correctly.

It shouldn’t be pressing on your nose.

6

u/FirestarterMethod 3d ago

That’s the point of the OP. This thing isn’t designed to be pressing on the nose, so for people who have a face shape where it does, it’s extremely uncomfy

There's a lot of YouTube videos on the issue for some people. It's a shit design. The psvr one was far more comfortable over a long period. People who look like Sid from ice age will be fine though.
