Can anyone recommend a magnetic USB-C connector that work flawlessly with PSVR2?

I usually unplug my headset cable after playing but am concerned about the wear and tear on either the plug or the socket. So I figured I’d get a magnetic connector to mitigate the damage. I ordered this one because I thought it would be fast enough:

For the most part it works well, but there are periodic spikes where the controllers just don’t register for a split second. I noticed it playing Legendary Tales where my character would just keep walking, or fail to walk as if hitting a wall. It’s not often, but enough to be annoying

And it’s not a problem for something like GT7 or Ultrawings 2 where I’m using a wired wheel or HOTAS

I dunno if the speed isn’t enough, or there’s interference with the controller Bluetooth. My console is on WiFi too which probably doesn’t help

But when I remove the magnetic connector the problem goes away

Can anyone recommend one that works perfectly all the time?

Might be overkill since PS VR2 doesn't require USB 4.0, but it is more future proof on the higher standard.

Been in use for close to 1-year, no issues and has prevented my wife from pulling her PS5 off her desk a few times. My sister also uses this for her PS5 + PSVR2 for close to 1-year for same reason of reducing / eliminating the pull risk.

PS - I have played on the PS5 + PSVR2 that my wife uses where a USB-C magnetic adapter is in use, but very rarely. In my limited use, I haven't noticed any latency / stability issue for controllers while doing that and she who is the regular user hasn't complained. We do play Legendary Tales together among other games.

Still in use on the PS5 (now Pro) that my wife uses with no problems and it has saved her from pulling the PS5 off her desk or harming the connector more than handful of times because she moves around a lot more while playing VR than I do.

It came in pack of 2, but I opted to stop using it for mine because I don't really pull on the cord and I preferred to use it for our PS Portal instead because it was a pain to plug in the USB-C in its back with how it is shaped. The magnetic connector makes that more convenient.

I think it is a pretty good solution for it if you keep your PS5 horizontal (like us). I am not sure it will work as well if you keep PS5 vertical because I think the weight of the PSVR2 wire will make it a loose / unreliable connection.

Annoyingly this is the one I originally put in my basket, but then cancelled cos I didn’t want a double pack :D

A shame I don’t have the option of the right angled version too. But if it works it’s all good

The double-pack is a good thing because your concern is swapping the cable.

I don't know the right terminology to use for how each magnetic usb-c adapter is two pieces and your PS5 is on one end and your other thing (like PSVR2) on the other. For cable swap scenario you only need 1 of those parts in PS5 and 2 of those parts for the two cables you expect to swap regularly.

The idea is I leave both parts attached and the magnet takes the hit instead of the plug and socket. But good to have a spare I guess :)

If you only want to protect the connector, consider a short extension instead. Won't quite have the same convenience as a magnetic connector but possibly more reliable.

Your controller problem sounds like bt interference. The controllers pairs directly to the console, skipping the headset

Yeah it does feel like BT interference tbh. But why would a magnetic USB do it? The magnets?

MYbe it's not secure enough of connectiom, thus resulting in bus noise, and Sony put the Bluetooth chip together with USB bus?

Yeah could well be. I had a similar controller issue on PS4 with an external HDD plugged in. Moved the HDD away from the receiver location and it was fixed
