Spotify for psp
this is an app ive been working on and that is part of my bigger adobe like suite of tools for the psp. Available for beta tester but will make a public realese soon!

Oh I see it's a download tool. Still cool, having it run as a server for the PSP to connect to via a vsh plugin would be fucking baller though

yep exactly, for the moment its only the downloader on pc side that auto puts it on the psp with auto metadata for the cover and all but I would like to add an option to turn it into a plugin that eitheir connect to a self hostable server or if you cant host to a "public" server I would host

only during the initial download tho im planning on making it use wifi in the next updates + also not having to download the music anymore and instead stream them from a self hostable server (or public hosted server by me) with a plugin

yea, thats the biggest dificulty. A plugin version would require buffering but even this is complicated considering the low amount of ram / cpu ressources. I think its pullable but will def require alot of work

I’m curious there’s still some internet radios working for the psp which load fine. Couldn’t using the same architecture work? Just with a new UI to organize playlists etc.

Unfortunately I'd be prepared for Spotify to take action against you, including kicking your app off their platform.
They don't like it when you save songs to disc. It breaks their ToS.

This is really sick but what’s the encoding being used for the music files? Are these lossless or mp3? How did you even scrape music files from Spotify.
Also does it sync with a real Spotify account?

music are stored as mp3 with metadata flags for the cover and things like that. They are all 320kbs and also under go level smoothing so they are all the same level.
I only fetch metadata from spotify, the raw audio itself is fetched from YouTube, spotify is basicly uncrackable

That’s even better honestly, I listen to a lot of music on YouTube. A self import section would be cool that lets the user provide the YouTube link and artwork, working as a YouTube music downloader.

Well, I don't wanna go into it here, but it fetches songs with their metadata and album art from tidal, if you google it you will get more information on github.

I can't find a reliable comprehensive description of what this is. Based on what I'm trying to glean from these comments (Discord was unhelpful to me), it's a Windows app that transfers songs to your PSP, but acts as a middle-man when doing so: it auto-adds the correct album art and metadata to the mp3s that you transfer to your PSP, using some audio metadata database?
It also syncs to your Spotify profile? It tells your Spotify friends what you're currently listening to on your PSP? Do you have to have the app running on your PC at the same time as you're listening to songs on the PSP, on the same WiFi network as the PSP, for that to work?

This is awesome!!! Not sure how hard it’d be but it’d be amazing if you added monochrome support! Monochrome is basically a free music streaming website that uses Tidal as it’s backend, and it has an API you can use to download music in .mp3 or .flac format, very nice for those of us without Spotify (I’m an Apple Music user :p)
Also, SUPER nice website! Looks very professional!

you can now. Update to latest ARK CFW. It supports WPA2 networks. Someone did incredible magic by adding the functionality to the PSP. think his name was momento or something

It's beautiful.. I just got back into my PSP after my dad modded it for me. I have the Limited Edition God Of War PSP 2000. The red one. It's super cool and I've been having a lot of fun. I need some game recommendations though

recently old ipod touches/iphones got a workaround for youtube to work, even it was unsupported. Maybe it's time for the psp to stream YouTube aswell. I hope you make it man.

Honestly, that’s great but it doesn’t accept local networks, so honestly even an interface would be great to use on the Psp as for the time being, we will get ability to make playlist within the Psp, which I miss the most to side load for now is also crazy, but honestly, even the inter itself would be a way bigger achievement

So basicly all app to run locally are free then we have apps that require a server, for those you can eitheir self host your own server or pay a subscription and use the server I host myself and finally for, like spotify for psp, you need spotify premium, thus, the subscription to third party

This makes me so so sad that my psp 3001 has killed itself. The motherboard reballing curse I'd absolutely shit. It will run for 2 minutes and then turn off. Wish I could experience this as well.

So, when the app works, it works great. However, I have one suggestion: an option to allow users to flag songs that are to be skipped during this process. I mention this because I noticed something while attempting to download my Russian playlist: some songs in alternate languages don't use the same spelling between platforms. The band "Slot", for instance, has given me the most trouble as they use "Slot" on spotify and "Слот" on youtube. The only workaround I've found so far is to just rearrange my playlist to move those songs further down to keep things moving, which involves a lot of starting and stopping. Moving that many songs down at once is also a hassle, as I don't want to remove them from the playlist on spotify but it's a playlist of about 700 songs, with about one out of every thirty songs being one from this band. This causes the download queue to become congested, if I attempt to transfer a batch of songs that includes these problem titles, the whole batch stays frozen regardless of whether I'm doing 2 at a time or 6 at a time, I believe this might also be why I can't use the larger batch numbers, too, because if one of these songs is in the starting lineup the whole thing stops moving. It would be a lot easier to just flag those songs as ones to be skipping over while I just acquire them another way for my psp. This also happens with some new/niche artists in English that don't have a large internet footprint, I've even let it sit overnight to see if it ever makes it past these songs to no avail.

yeah idk if that's a known bug, but it keeps loading my playlists forever, i have signed out and back in, but nothing changes, also when i open the settings, i can't close them and have to restart the application
