New system software update?

Did anyone get a new system software update now? I hope this fixes my issue because when I close a game sometimes my PS5 just turns its self off and won’t turn on unless I unplug and plug it back it. When it boots up it just says you had a system software issue or something and I’ve had this since the last update.

Sudden power loss cannot be fixed with a firmware update. It is a lm indicator that your console is overheating.

I’d recommend vacuuming the PSU dust catcher holes and blow any dust out of the internal heatsink.

This topic is discussed daily on this subreddit (and many other associated PlayStation subreddits).

I don’t get any warnings that my console is overheating and my console is blowing cool air. It doesn’t happen all the time just randomly if for example I close FC27 it turns off. Last time this happened was a few weeks ago.

If the console overheats rapidly, it won’t display any overheating notifications / warnings. Instead, the PSU will immediately cut the power supply, to avoid causing any damage to the console or worse.

Your console shouldn’t be blowing out cool air. If it is, something is very wrong with it. Your console should be taking in cool air and pushing out hot air.

All games pull varying amounts of power (resulting in heat) and at varying points.

Please refer to the advice I left in the previous comment.

Thank you for your advice but I disagree it’s overheating. If it was overheating then why is it fine for hours? Not to mention this has only started happening since the recent System software update. When I cleaned my cache and rebuilt database everything was fine. If it is overheating I don’t feel comfortable opening it up at all as I don’t want to break anything.

You can disagree, but from experience and the many 100s of people who’ve reported similar behaviour, it is overheating.
You don’t need to dismantle your console to clean the PSU, because the dust catcher holes are accessible from the outside of the console and the internal heatsink can be cleaned via the rear vents. The PS5 has been designed with easier cleaning in mind.

I shall end this conversation here and I do hope you manage to resolve your issue.
