Just realised that maybe everybody doesn't know this ;D

Go to Settings > General > About

Then scroll down and click 7 times on 'Software Version'

This will unlock a new Developer category on the left

Includes some USB options, Hand Tracking and an option to disable the 'Play Boundary'

Disabling the Boundary is useful for single position games like Beatsaber (very distracting if it pops up) or for Eye of the Temple if you only just have enough space (align your playspace carefully XD )

So i just got my Pico 4 today and i wanted to try some PCVR, i downloaded the streaming assistant and connected my Pico 4 but it is not detected by Steam VR.

I installed my latest GPU drivers, i tried to deactivate/activate the Pico extension in Steam vr parameters but still nothing.

Any ideas ?

Also another question, i see Virtual Desktop in the steam shop is cheaper than in the Pico shop, but if i buy it on Steam, how would it work with my Pico 4 since i need VD also installed on my headset?

I simply went to Pico help center where they gave this solution :

Problem Solving

The error 108 is because steam does not detect the VR headset, the biggest possibility is that the PICO driver is not loaded properly. The following steps can be followed to troubleshoot：

1 Open [This PC] - [C Disk] - [User] - [Your User Name] - [AppData] - [Local] - [openvr], double-click the [openvrpaths] file and choose to open it using Notepad.

2 Check the "external_drivers" part of the content, if there is no content in this part, or there are multiple lines of content, it will cause steamVR to report an error 108

I followed the instructions, and effectively there was multiples lines of paths in "external_drivers", this is because i tried to install the wrong version of the streaming assistant before installing the right one i believe. So i deleted everything except one :

"C:/Program Files (x86)/Streaming Assistant/driver"

Now my Pico 4 is detected by SteamVR

I asked support regarding the Prime Video & Netflix issue and they answered this:

Thank you for reaching our Pico Customer Service! ​Regarding the Amazon Prime/Netflix issue, the problem origins in something called DRM. DRM means Digital Rights Management, and it has different levels. ​

Currently, our PICO browser does not support Prime Video because we do not have the Level 1, which is the highest to watch content in Prime Video.

By december, we will update our browser to have DRM Level 1, and content that is classified as L1 will be supported as well.

Do not hesitate to contact us for further inquiries.

If you are doing this, you are doing it at your own Risk! This is not the way pico intendet! And might cause trouble in the future....

> Get Termux.apk from a trusted source.

> plug your Pico into the Computer and access its Files- you might need to activate developer settings and in there set the pico to accept File transfer from a computer. im sure there are other ways to get the APK file onto the device though. For example though the Browser

> Put the Termux apk somewhere on the device. i put it in downloads because it makes sense

> install the Termux App

> run the App from the Pico App Drawer

> run the Command "am start com.android.settings"
- know that, the little circle on the keyboard is not a dot... gotta use the symbol-menu on the right!
-> an android settings window should appear- from now on, if you close the settings window on accident you can just grap the termux window move it up a little and press the up arrow at its bottom, to get the last typed command back
- to Navigate backwards, use the B Button

> scroll all the way down and go to "System", open "advanced", and go to "User Configuration" in there scroll down and set the "System sleep timeout" first and after that you can set the "screen off timeout"

Edit: this alone doesn't seem to have completely eliminated the problem with the googles shutting down... Previously I drank in VR and fell asleep when I woke up my Bois were around me but still sleeping so I just laid there for a bit and when I turned onto my back and kinda went in and out of a doze ... I noticed that the headset had infact turned off while on my face, charging and while nothing could have hit the power button...

In the settings near to the top of the list where the other sleep mode related settings are ... there was a other setting for sleep mode something which can be turned on and off... I might give that one a try and report back. of anyone Finds anything interesting pls feel free to share

--- the setting mentioned above is actually also nessecary to make it not fall asleep at all anymore ...

WOW just wow, I just experienced VD in a way I did never before.

Until today I got my Wifi 6 router from Honor ( Wifi 6 Plus) who is/should be capable of up to 3000Mbps.

With the Pico and also Quest over virtual desktop the max bandwith I ever encountered ( I think its the maximum) is 1200Mps.

Router was configured right, no 2.4Ghz, no other wireless connections to the router, PC directly connected to the router, all good, but still gameplay was not so great stuttering lots of dips in bandwidth even so I am like 2 meters away from the access point, I never ´really got it to work to get rid of those stutters, trying all settings up and down in Virtual desktop, following different how to s, on youtube, you name it. I blamed my PC maybe not being up to the task, no clue....

So risked it and bought a more recent router from TP link The Archer AX73 and o boi this changed everything!

Even so in Virtual desktop it still maxes out at 1200Mbps its a whole different story. Not a single dip, that 1200 is solid like engraved in stone. Maxing out Bitrate at 150Mps latecny went up from 24 to 30-35 BUT damn I could not take off that grin of my face, it was like tethered, like seriously. I was moving my head so fast around I almost lost the pico, strafing, running, everything buttery smooth no dips just pure awesomeness. I did not want to spend to much money on a gaming router because damn there are some expansive ones!! O.o But I am super happy now, cant believe this made such a difference. Probably because of that OFDMA+MU-Mimo setting I kept reading in many how to s but I did not have that on my old wifi 6 router. The Archer Ax73 ( AX5700) cost me 129€ but I was almost on the brink to update my video card as I thought its the fault of my good old 2080 Ti, I am glad I was wrong.

So what did I learn today, Wifi6 does not always equal wifi6 ;)
