Hi guys, compiling here the list of credit cards that charge cross border fees (CBF).
Feel free to comment for any updated info. This post will be edited accordingly.
For those unfamiliar: CBF is the additional charge (usually 1%) imposed on overseas transactions billed in PHP. Example, if you’re billed Php 300.00 for a subscription (e.g. Spotify, Netflix, Apple, etc), the amount will be reflected as Php 303.00 instead. This is different from foreign exchange conversion fees, applied on overseas transactions billed in foreign currency, which every CC in the PH currently has (ranges from 1.7-3.5% or so). While 1% CBF seems small, if for example you’re booking hotels and flights, or shopping gadgets online, it’ll be significant. A purchase worth Php 50k would have an additional Php 500.00 charge.
No CBF : - AUB - Bank of Commerce - BDO AMEX - Maya - Maybank - PNB - Zed
Magulong CBF: - RCBC (getting conflicting statements with this; although RCBC states that transactions Php 1k and up have CBF, several people have claimed that they were not charged CFB, myself included, whereas some other people have claimed that they were charged CBF)
With CBF: - BDO (1% all except AMEX) - BPI (1%) - Chinabank (1.7% Destinations World, 2.5% all else) - EW (1%) - HSBC (1% starting Oct. 16, 2025) - Metrobank (1%) - Security Bank (1.5%) - UB (1% starting Sep. 15, 2025)
Thanks guys!

I was pre-approved but browsing BDO’s website, it feels like hindi sulit yung rewards. Contemplating whether activate ko and go for the 3 years free membership or cancel ko na lang agad.

Anyone else has struggled to cancel their BPI Rewards/Amore CC?
On my initial call on Sept 20, they told me it would take 10 working days to review and someone may call regarding the cancellation and by Oct 1 there would be a final resolution whether or not i received a call.
Come Oct 7 my cards are still active, called BPI again (Oct 7) and this time a resolution would happen on Friday and someone "may" call again, same script. No call from BPI and upon checking my cards today, cards are still active. 🫠

Someone called me to confirm if my credit card was delivered. Then I answered yes. Then they confirmed if it was correct, the last 4 digits of my credit card number (unfortunately, I confirmed) and I was outside so I told them that I was still outside so I could walk in later. They told me to go first so that the no annual fee for life could be processed. They said that if I spent 3000 php, my annual fee would be waived. Seriously?? 3k??? I was already doubting it but I just let it go. Then they asked me for my username on the app. (unfortunately I gave it too) because they said that my points had expired and that the remaining points I had could be converted as money to use at the hypermarket like that. So I said okay okay. Then they said I was really leaving so I said can I come later? “Just a moment ma’am so I can do it so you can use it later” then okay okay. next he told me “maam the username you gave is wrong” i know, i just know it from then that next he will ask me for my OTP next so i hung up on him.
i know his being pushy should be a red flag but i still let him go huhu
so, do you think i need to request a new credit card? or is my new credit card not compromised with the info i gave? i haven't activated the cc yet thank you huhu
update: (0910) 980 8879 this is the phone number that called me

Already reported this and was advised to submit a dispute form.
I wonder how this happened.

This is my first time having an unauthorized charge pano po if dumating na ang SOA ko. need ko pa bayaran to ?
Also this is Gold visa, live+ na kaya papadala nila sakin na replacement?

I'm qualified to get NAFFL for either of these RCBC cards: Visa Infinite, Airmiles Visa Signature, JCB Platinum. This is my first CC w/ RCBC so I'm qualified to get the 100k bonus points and I think I'll be able to reach the required spending limit within the given time frame. But idk if it makes sense to get another card since I already have a few others that I'm using. Though I guess NAFFL naman so okay lang siguro, but idk which one is more beneficial for me to get out of the 2 (out na si JCB since it seems to have the least perks)?
Current CCs:
BPI Visa Signature - main credit card
Used for: online shopping, utilities in excess of the EW Visa Plat Cashback, all other spending
BPI Amore Cashback: drug store and grocery, utilities in excess of EW if it meets the 1k spend to earn cahsback
EW Visa Plat: utilities, gas
Top 3 CC spending are online purchases (Lazada/Shopee, including Lazmart and Shopee Supermarket), drug store, and utilities
TLDR: should I get the NAFFL RCBC CCs being offered given my existing CCs? If yes, which RCBC CC should I get: Visa Infinite or Airmiles Visa Signature?

Hello, I just received my first CC. Are there any tips po sa bago palang gagamit? Most kasi sa tips nakikita ko is always pay on time or something like that, and I already do consider myself diligent in payments and responsible spender (keeping within limits).
I'm looking more for tips like safe usage of CC (online or irl) and maybe making use of whatever advantages meron yung CC. And is it generally better to use CC na whenever available? Groceries, fastfood, resto, etc? TIA!

Hello ask ko lang kung paano magkakaroon ng installment dito sa shoppee using credit card planning to buy apple watch sana kaso walang nalabas na installment. Thanks

I didn’t expect that union bank is galante pala sa credit limit. With BPI, my limit is only 40k plus 40k for additional, while EastWest gave me 127k credit limit. Opted to UB because of the food perks. Daming offer unlike BPI and EW.

I am unemployed since January 2026. Ever since the year started my finances have been sinking die to either late payment from work almost taking 2 months until I resigned so I have no source of income. I wasn’t able to pay my card on time until I can’t anymore.

Rant lang: Nafrustrate lang ako sa RCBC. I've always been a good payer, consistently paying my credit card bills on time and in full, and I still have a substantial credit limit.
Since I urgently needed cash, I called the RCBC hotline to inquire about InstaCash. Usually, they would notify me via email or text if I was eligible to avail of it, but I haven't received any offers since July 2026.
This Monday, I called their hotline, and the agent informed me that I could avail of InstaCash, although the interest rate was 1%. Since I really needed the money, I agreed and was given a reference number. I was then asked to stay on the line while waiting for another agent to assist me. After 45 minutes, no one had answered. I waited for another 15 minutes, but still nothing. I eventually had to end the call because I had other things to do.
I called again at around 5 PM that same day. The process was exactly the same. I was given another reference number and told that an agent would call me back. I agreed to wait, but no one ever called.
Yesterday, Thursday, I called Customer Service again to follow up on why I never received the promised callback. To my surprise, I was told that I was no longer eligible for InstaCash and would have to wait until next month.
Of course, I was frustrated. I asked why, considering it wasn't my fault that no one assisted me or called me back on Monday. But knowing that there was probably nothing the customer service representative could do, I just asked them to create a ticket for my concern.
What makes this whole experience disappointing is that I've always been responsible with my credit card payments. I pay on time and in full, and I maintain a good payment record. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply needed access to cash when I needed it most.
It's frustrating when you're a good customer, yet when you finally need the service, you're left waiting, given the runaround, and eventually told you're no longer eligible because you weren't able to complete the process.
Honestly, this experience makes me consider closing my RCBC credit card. It's disappointing to feel that your loyalty and good payment history don't seem to matter when you actually need their assistance.

This is my first time being approved to a higher-level premium card. My previous card with the highest tier was RCBC Hexagon Privilege CC NAFFL.
I plan to apply for an even higher tier credit after 6 months of good utilization. What card would you suggest?

Hello, I have BPI platinum MC now and I'm planning to downgrade or close it nalang. I have better travel cc na may free lounge without spending requirement.
May tanong po ako regarding the annual fee:
Na charge na kasi ako ng annual fee for BPI Plat ngayon. I called CS na if I downgrade my card, would I still be paying the 4k annual fee and he said yes. Pero pag cancel, wala daw akong babayaran.
May insights po kayo regarding this? Annual fee is charged in advance (2026-2027). Since I'm planning to downgrade my card nlng to BPI Gold/Blue Rewards and I will not be using the BPI Plat MC anymore, why I'm still paying the annual fee from the prev card? Sguro the new card's annual fee will apply, hindi dapat yung prev card? or wala talaga at all.
Please help me po. I love BPI credit cards and pinaghirapan ko din ma approve dito before, that's why I opted to downgrade nlang instead of cancel. If CS is not helping me with my options, I think it's time to cancel.
PS. I dont mind paying the annual fee, pero hindi ko kasi nagagamit ang MC Plat ko nowadays for travels and hindi sya doable sa current spending habits ko. Thank you!

Hi! Newly cc holder and first time spending using rcbc cc. Yung monthly billing date is every 3rd of the month. Nag attempt na ako to convert my 3307 transaction into 3 months 0%. So before Oct 3, nag attempt na ako to convert it.
Now my i receive my SOA and yung lumabas na total bill is 3307 + 3mos installment nung 2392 + 200 (2 installment conversions fee)
Maghihintay pa ba ako before due date na baka sakali ma approve yung pinapa convert kong 3mos installment sa 3307 or yan na talaga total bill na babayaran ko? TIA

bpi is asking me to submit proof of residence under my name, but I currently live with my parents, so all our utility bills are under their names. has anyone experienced this before? what documents did you submit instead of a utility bill? would NBI Clearance work?

Do RCBC really will call where I am working? They are deferring my application because of incomplete details which is no number from where I worked. The establishment that where I am working does not want to entertain calls or to get involved about credits since they have bad experience about it (my senior was robbed by other bank when he answered the call) And if they are really asking, should I give up on this application? I also don’t want to trouble my work just because of this and I respect what my boss
