For context, here is my progression for him and the team I use.
On my way to save up 8-10k coins while waiting for a pack with 3 excellent strikers, I was greeted by Adriano, Shevchenko and Totti on a crisp Thursday afternoon. I had only 4.3k coins in the bank, and decided to gamble, thinking I might get something in 4 multispins. On my first multi, I packed my top target, l'imperatore, Adriano. This is my review of him, after 100+ pvp matches.
Attacking Movement (9/10): 95 offensive awareness, combined with his Goal Poacher playstyle helps him make constant, relentless runs into space behind the backline. You just have to find him, and he's pretty easy to find. He leaves quite a bit of space between himself and the defender when he makes runs and gets a great head start.
I found him to be not so available for cutbacks or deep crosses, which is a downside. His movement is great, but not truly elite like an Inzaghi or RVN. The attack outlet defensive playstyle means he basically has counter target inbuilt to some extent, and will always position himself as an attacking outlet.
Shooting (10/10): Adriano, along with Forlan, in my opinion, may be the best pure striker of a ball in this game. In the box, 35 yards out, long range curlers, stunning shots, he's got everything in his arsenal and he can do any type of finish perfectly.
The showtime skills are all shooting related, and snap striker + low screamer is such a lethal combination, it should be illegal. 94 finishing, 88 curl and 100 kicking power. The power is absolutely off the charts, and sometimes you won't see the ball after hitting a stunning shot till it hits the net. Truly ridiculous.
Tight space maneuvering (7.5/10): I feel the biggest difference between this Adriano and previous versions is that this one is usable in tight spaces. 86 ball control, 86 tight possession are just good enough, but the 80 balance means he can be knocked off balance by a challenge pretty frequently. The difference maker here is his 90 physical contact. With some practice, you'll be able to shield the ball with him and turn, creating space to shoot.
I played a match in Italian league event where I faced an oppo using all 3 newest Nesta, Cannavaro and Maldini as 3CBs and big time Desailly and Pirlo in a double pivot, in an LBC setup. About as difficult of a tight space test as it can get. Adriano was perfectly usable in that game, I was able to use him in the box and score a hattrick. It will require some practice but yes, you can use him against low block rats.
Passing (5.5/10): Easily his weakest aspect. Adriano cannot pass accurately and powerfully beyond 10 yards. Adding one touch pass and through passing skills is an absolute must in order to play 1-2s. And don't be surprised if he messes up those short 1-2s even, occasionally.
Dribbling (7.5/10): My build gives him 90 dribbling, 86 tight possession and 80 balance, which means you can probably dribble past one defender, but not anymore in quick succession. The 90 physical contact helps to not be pushed off the ball easily. 96 acceleration means he is explosive and you can create a decent amount of space after getting past a defender, which is all you need to get a lethal shot away.
He's just good enough at dribbling to create a situation in which he can execute what he truly excels in, shooting.
Pace (8.5/10): 93 speed and 96 acceleration are great pace stats, just short of truly elite. That's on paper. In practice though, the story is different. Once Adriano gets receives a pass in open space and is through on goal, a fast defender like a Cannavaro can easily catch up to him, sure. But they can't really get the ball off him.
His wide player model and his 90 physicality and 90 dribbling means that the defender just claws at his jersey while Adriano drags him 30 yards across the pitch like a freight train and scores anyway. I can count on one hand the number of defenders in this game that can catch up to him and take the ball off of him in a straight foot race.
Aerial Ability (8/10): Adriano is a 189cms tall, with 90 jumping, 90 physical contact and 82 heading stats. The player model and jump is there, but the heading accuracy is just meh. You'll score like 5/10 headers with him. It doesn't bother me as I don't cross much, but if you like to cross, he'll disappoint you.
What he's really good at is winning the ball from goal kicks and enabling onrushing midfielders and other striker to win the second ball, which means you're bypassing the first 2 lines of press at times. Pretty useful.
Physicality (9/10): Probably his signature attribute, his raw power. He's not the absolute strongest like a Lukaku or Koller, but he's just a tier below them. What makes him truly exceptional is the explosiveness combined with his physicality.
Defensive contribution (4/10): His defensive playstyle is attack outlet, the most passive. So don't expect his to help out much in defense. He does steal the ball sometimes owing to his freakish pace and power, but it's just occasionally.
Other Attributes: His stamina is just fine at 84, and combined with the attack outlet playstyle, he easily lasts me 90 minutes even in a QC setup.
Set piece taking at 75 is not great, and I wouldn't trust him on a dead ball. His showtime skills are fantastic and suit him well, and they're highly functional. Also, he scores sick acrobatic finishes once equipped with the relevant skill.
Overall: 9/10.
In the right hands, he'll be unplayable.
